Fee Details: We will meet 1-3 times prenatally. I include dad/birth partner and we will go over comfort measures for during labor, I have resources for answering questions about natural birth (in hospital and out) and about hospital procedures and choices that are available. It's so hard to have a truly natural birth in a hospital in the U.S. and having an advocate increases your chances greatly. I look forward to helping you and your partner as you cross this bridge and enter into parenthood. Having an empowering birth empowers your parenting as well as your life! Payment plans and special pricing available for those who need it, and for fellow military families. Every woman needs access to a doula!

I have studied natural birthing since 2008. I am a homebirth and natural birth advocate. I strongly recommend mamas educate themselves from many different sources. I also strongly encourage all mamas to listen to and follow their own instincts. I'm also a student midwife, Midwife Assistant, offering montrice services. I have written a birth comfort measures, hands on class. I have written a natural hospital birth booklet, available as a PDF download on my website. I have been involved with La Leche League since January 2012 and joined Dawson County Breastfeeding Coalition in January 2016. I lead The Mommy Circle, a postpartum & breastfeeding support group in Lexington, Ne (the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays at 7pm at the Lexington Public Library), and am a trained Lactation Counselor.

Marsena is very knowledgeable about pregnancy and birthing. Though she never attended my births (I have fast births and a lot of confidence in birthing so her being there in time would be physically impossible), she was a good source of information whenever I had any concerns that were not readily addressed in the plethora of birth books I had available. She is comfortable talking about details most people would find uncomfortable...which is probably why the knowledge isn't easily found in books. ;)
If you are concerned about hospital staff not respecting your choices, then she would definitely have your back! Also, not many doulas are supportive of free birth, but she is. So if you are going that route, her assistance is an option.
O.M.Goodness! The kind of support that I received from Marsena has been birth-supported awesome! She even went the extra mile to do a live demonstration for using the rebozo during my labor. She showed my husband how to support me and how to apply pressure during certain stages of my various sensations. Her passion and zeal to empower you to be in complete control of your birth is not only welcoming, but she makes you feel human, cared for, and capable to birth your baby in the most natural way.
Marsena was an absolute godsend before, during and after the birth of my daughter. We had planned a completely natural, unmedicated, hospital birth and Marsena was so helpful every step of the way. She was always great at answering our questions and was ready right when we were ready for her to come join us for the birth. The various techniques she taught both my husband and I we used to help get me through contractions, her copious amounts of knowledge and her kindness were all things we couldn’t replace. I am so thankful to say that even though my birth didn’t go entirely as I had hoped, that I still met my goal of it being completely natural and unmedicated thanks to Marsena.
Marsena was perfect for me for my second birth. After a traumatic experience filled with many interventions for my first birth, I wanted a very different experience for my second birth. Marsena met with me many times before the birth discussing and addressing my many fears and anxieties and giving me much needed encouragement and resources for researching and making decisions. I chose to have a birth free of medication, IV's, and to go to the hospital last minute. Marsena was available for me when I called, even after many false alarms during 5 days of prodromal labor. I called her, she got to my house quickly and then left with me just as quickly as things progressed faster than we thought. Marsena watched me closely and knew exactly what I needed for support during labor and transition, whether it was verbal encouragement, physical touch or counterpressure, suggesstions for positions, or just a reminder to do what my body tells me. She reminded me that I am a strong woman and God made me to be able to do this! I ended up squatting for birth at the end of the bed after being at the hospital for only an hour. Marsena supported my husband in encouraging me without getting in the way or taking over. She worked well with my nurses and advocated for me whn the Dr. almost clamped the cord before I wanted her too. She quickly assessed our breastfeeding initiation and she knew when to step back after the birth and allow my husband and I to have family time. Her postpartum visit was full of encouragement during the transition to two kids at home. This birth was healing and magical, thanks a lot to Marsena's help! I would do this again in a heartbeat! So worth it! I still think about this birth and smile inside, I am breathless with wonder!
I thought she did a great job keeping her patient calm and doing what she needed and wanted. She was very conscientious of nursing staff. I was also impressed with how she stayed shortly after the delivery and then left knowing it was family time. I thought she was very good and professional.
I wanted to use a doula so that my husband would be able to take a break during the labor when he needed. What we received was so much more!
Marsena was always available to discuss birth plan options. She attended several of my prenatal visits and was a great sounding board when I went past my due date. She was excellent at stepping in to provide pressure on my back throughout the labor. What a great extra pair of hands to have! She also helped manage the flow of traffic in the room and explain what was happening to our other children that wanted to be present for the birth. Also, her encouragement to breastfeed is giving me the push I need to keep trying.
I hope that Marsena will be available for any future pregnancies that I have!
