Fee Details: Because we are so passionate about our work, we encourage anyone in any financial situation to contact us if they would like to benefit from assistance and support during their birth and postpartum. we usually schedule a free consultation with all moms-to-be and their partners so that discussion of fees and sliding scale contracts can be negotiated and agreed to by both parties. If you are in a shelter or are in dire financial distress, please let us know, as we are more than willing to negotiate a "pay what you can" type of arrangement, or something more suited to your personal situation. :)

Attends hospital births? All Hospitals
I provide emotional, physical and informational support to clients and their partners who are planning to give birth in a hospital. I can help the woman in labor determine for herself if it's the right time to go to the hospital or not from her home, and I can also assist a women who wants to labor as much as possible at home before going into the hospital, as long as it is safe to do so. While at the hospital, I can explain most terms and procedures that are being recommended to the mother, and I can help her advocate for herself if she feels that her opinions or questions needs to be heard more clearly by the staff. I always aim to make sure my clients are giving informed consent at all times to whatever procedures, interventions or such that are being proposed or recommended to them by the doctors, midwives and/or nurses, so as to help the birthing mother always feel in control of the choices she is making throughout her labor and delivery, while still making sure that the safety of both the baby and the mother are first and foremost.
Attends birth center births? All Birth Centers
I will attend any birth of a client who wants to give birth at a birth center, and can assist them in checking in, getting settled, natural pain management methods and of course all the usual Doula services that go along with supporting a mom-to-be and her partner. I am there to provide emotional, physical and informational support to the birthing mother, the same as if they were giving birth either in a hospital or at home.
Attends home births? Some Home Births
We provide similar services to those that we provide for clients who labor and deliver in a birth center or hospital. We are able to provide emotional, physical and informational support to the birthing mother and her partner throughout the process. However, while we very much believe in a woman's right to choose how and where she gives birth to her children, we are unable to attend a planned unassisted home birth. In other words, if you are not planning on having any primary healthcare provider (either a midwife, family doctor or ObGyn) present for any part of your homebirth (i.e. a "Zion" on unassisted childbirth plan), we are unable to provide support in those circumstances, due to our association's requirements of us within our scope of practice.

Relevant volunteer or advocacy work

We run free workshops for the public on what midwifery is, and how it functions/fits in to our Canadian and especially our Ontario healthcare system, as well as showing how underused this golden resource truly is, currently. We also run a podcast and YouTube channel on the same topics, de-mystifying the myths still out there surrounding midwifery, and the capabilities/education that midwives here in Canada are equipped with. We also do episodes on Doulas and how they compliment your healthcare choices all throughout pregnancy and labour.
