Heather played such an important role in the birth of our first child.  Her calming nature and positivity helped us through the 43 hour long natural labor.  While everything went a little slower than we were planning on, I never felt any fear because Heather was there to assure us that things were going so smoothly and moving forward.  Her reassurance meant everything for us.  I had back labor (the baby was flipped upside down), so had intense pain in my lower back; as my husband massaged me there through each contraction Heather would talk me through them and remind me to relax which was absolutely essential to making it through!!  She had such an easy-going and supportive disposition, and found ways to be helpful that didn't disrupt the natural process or the role that my husband played.  I felt like we were all a team in the incredibly difficult but wonderful process.  She was so knowledgeable during each step and helped discuss our choices with us.  She also advocated for us when we were in need for something from the hospital team.  During the different stages of labor Heather helped us find positions that were more comfortable and was so positive through it all.  I pushed for 3.5 hours and during which we tried every position possible!!  Having her creativity and experience was essential to maintaining a positive experience.  I look back at the time so fondly.  My husband and I will be forever grateful for Heather and what she brought to the most amazing experience in our lives.  I highly recommend Heather as a doula!!

My experience with Heather Davis as a doula was better than I could have imagined. During the later months of my pregnancy I worried about the many things that might go wrong at the hospital. I am afriad of hospitals and had heard so many stories of how hospital staff was not very supportive during labor or intervened more than many couples would like. Heather gave me that additional confidence that I needed to feel reassured that everything was going smoothly. She supported me from the minute my contractions started and helped us decide when it was time to go the hospital since it was my wish to labor at home for as long as possible. Heather was both very supportive but also allowed for my husband to feel like he was my main support. Transition was so intense I didn't know how to work throuh each contraction. SHe used great techniques for relaxtion that really helped me make it through to the end without medication. My labor was an amazing experience and I look back on the whole process as a joyous occasion. I think Heather helped us have a beautiful birth. If I ever have another child I hope she will be there to guide and support me again.

Heather is simply amazing. She was an incredible resource during my pregnancy, delivery, and post partum. During my delivery she was in tune with me and supported me in every way, with absolutely no judgement. For me, for those moments, she was the most important person in the room because I knew that she knew what I needed in terms of support. Heather also assisted me in my first breastfeeding experience and I'm happy to say my daughter and I enjoyed a 9 month nursing relationship. I can't say enough about how wonderful Heather is as a Doula!!

Heather created an amazong sense of serenity throughout or birth experience that allowed us to feel calm, confident and supported. She helped us to create and follow a plan that made the experience exactly what we  wanted it to be.  The experience and joy she brings to her work was very empowering.  I cannot recommend Heather enough.

I cannot say enough great things about Heather! I first met her when I started prenatal yoga with her at LiveWell Studio. Those classes were always just what my body and mind needed. She has a way of making the class feel like a little community. Even though I had a crazy busy schedule and live in Albany, I made myself fit her classes into my schedule.
I had interviewed a couple of other doulas and just didn't click with any of them. I didn't even know Heather was a doula, but when I thought of what type of person I wanted at my birth she came to mind, so I asked her. Lucky for me she said she was just getting back to serving as a doula! She was so wonderful at my hospital birth, and I'm certain without her I would have ended up with an epidural and probably a c-section. Even though I had 3 family members there, it was Heather that I needed by my side to help me through each contraction. I had to be induced due to preeclampsia and Heather helped me navigate my options before and during labor. Once I was in active labor I did ask for an epidural. Heather negotiated with me and the nurse that we would turn off the pitocin, wait 20 mins, and see how things went. Sure enough my labor kept progressing without the pitocin and by the time I asked again it was too late- time to push! I highly recommend Heather for prenatal yoga and as a doula! I know I will be doing both with her for my next baby :)
