Alea is a wonderful doula! She had calls with me and met with me multiple times while I was pregnant including touring the birth center with us. She is the most calm and supportive person I've ever met.  My mother only met her briefly and said the same thing!  As an added bonus, she took amazing birth photos.  I am so happy she captured those precious moments.

I had originally planned for a non-medicated vaginal birth, but my baby ended up being very late and his head was projected to be quite large (it ended up being 15 cm!).  My doctor strongly encouraged induction at 41 weeks which I reluctantly agreed to due to the large head size.  Unfortunately, my induction didn't go well and my labor stalled ultimately resulting in a C-section delivery.  I was able to labor naturally for about 7 hours first and I am glad I was able to experience that! It was tough, but Alea was so good with me.  She encouraged me to get up and walk, try different positions, utlize different relaxation techniques - all things that I may have been too uncomfortable to do if I were on my own.

I was so thankful to have Alea there with me because it was somewhat traumatic for my birth plan to go off the tracks the way it did, and she never showed any negative judgment about my decision to go through with the induction and ultimately the C-section.  She was just kind and made me feel comfortable and at ease.

When my baby arrived, she helped my husband with him since I was still out of it from the meds.  Alea helped get my baby to nurse as soon as I was able to, and stayed with me while my husband ran some important errands.  In total, she was with me for over 24 hours straight with little to no sleep and she never complained!  She snuck food in for me when I was in the earliest stages of labor which I very much needed!

Regardless of what your birth plan is, Alea will be an excellent doula!

Alea is such a sweet, soothing soul! She opened her heart to us before, during and after the home birth of our daughter. I loved her gentle yet validating feminine energy... she nurtured and (literally!) nourished me when I became overwhelmed and exhausted. She cheered me on and when I felt I could push no longer she became a pillar of quiet strength.

She also captured gorgeous photos of the experience! I highly recommend Alea's doula services. She's a lovely down-to-earth person and you can easily see how passionate she is about birth and helping women achieve the experience they desire.

Alea was such a wonderful support for myself, my husband, and my 8 year old daughter at my most recent birth.  Being a doula myself I knew that I would need doula support so that I didn't try to "doula myself" when I needed to be focused on going within to birth.  I wanted to have a doula for me and also a second doula to help my daughter understand what was happening throughout the labor and birthing process.  Alea was so wonderful with HJ.  She brought some word games (which were actually great for me during earlier active labor as well!( She was also a wonderful support for me during the intense part of labor.  She and my other doula were amazing together.  I couldn't have asked for a better birth team.  At the end as our newest daughter was about to come earthside, HJ got a little nervous and Alea encouraged her that all was well and that she should watch.  HJ has said over and over how glad she is that she had that support and was able to watch her baby sister be born.  We have some absolutely lovely pictures of her watching the whole process and my heart is just filled when I see the love and support from Alea for her and me.  I wasn't able to birth at home like I would like, but having the room full of lovely doulas who are also great friends, my sweet little mini doula, best friend/photographer, and my wonderful husband...it really truly didn't matter where I was...I could feel the love completely surrounding the entire room.  Alea's quiet, calm, and sweet presence was a blessing on our birthing day.  <3
