Our experience with Jamina was amazing.

She was a true gift of wisdom, insight, encouragement and support during my first month postpartum. There were some things I expected to learn from her, such as proper feeding, burping and diaper techniques. But then there were some things she provided that I hadn’t originally thought of that ended up making a huge difference in my recovery.

She helped me educate and communicate with my family members in order to set boundaries so we would all stay sane. She helped me realize that I have to take care of myself first in order to take care of my daughter. She helped my husband and I navigate through the complexities of being a blended family with two older children from a previous marriage. And the biggest thing I didn’t count on was not being able to breastfeed, which was devastating. Jamina walked with me through all of it, providing constant support, either in person or via phone or text.

Without her guidance, my daughter’s first days and weeks outside the womb would have been spent with a nervous, insecure new mom. With her guidance, I gained confidence and was able to enjoy my time off with my sweet baby girl. And even though our contracted time is now complete, Jamina still checks in with us and remains an invaluable resource – she just recommended a wonderful new babysitter who we adore!

As I sit here thinking about Jamina, she always brings a smile to my face. I cannot begin to say how important she was to our family but mainly myself as a new mother. I had several complications after my baby was born and of course, I thought I had everyhing covered on my own but as soon as she stepped into our house I felt like i could breathe again. Her energy is so calming and she knows just where to pick up and help without having to be asked. Some days I didn't even know what I needed and wasn't even sure I needed a doula but the thought, care and ease that she brought could not be measured.

I remember thinking back on the first day that she came in while I was in bed after a c-section. she had my baby wrapped around her in a Moby (while being pregnant herself) and was carrying a load of folded towels in one hand with something else in the other. She is a modern day and stylish Mary Poppins :) she made meals, washed clothes, helped to make sure everything was set up properly to care for Baby Isaac and was just even there to listen and help as I cried. I had numerous lactation visits and a baby that hated the car. She went on appointments with me and recommended ways for me to connect with new moms. I feel like I could list out so many things she did for us but would still come up short. In honesty, getting Jamina on board was the best decision that we made. Her experience, knowledge, patience and grace are the characteristics that set her miles apart. I cried on her last day with our family.

After my first pregnancy I swore that I would never have anothr baby without my prenatal doula.  Then after my second pregnancy, I used Jamina Jackson as my postnatal doula, and I swear I will never have another baby without her on my care team as well.  Jamina quickly became a very important person on my team and she was just as helpful to my care as my doctors, midwife, massage therapist, and other doula was.

Jamina was extremely supportive, caring, and helpful as soon as we hired her.  Whether it was making sure I had water, to doing the dishes, to playing with my older child, to cooking, to hearing my struggles and trimuphs, to helping me organize my thoughts and execute tasks, Jamina was the most amazing person I could have ever asked to be with me after my baby was born.  I recommend a post partum doula to everyone now and sing praises for Jamina.

Jamina became part of our family and she will always be one of the most important people in my life that supported me in becoming a mother of two.

Jamina helped our family out after the birth of our 3rd child last year. I had known Jamina remotely for years, and was excited about having such a warm, loving soul help us transition into a larger family. Wow. She was just amazing. Though I had been through the newborn phase a couple of times before, she taught me new tricks and provided great support though some issues we encountered. She is very organized, a go-getter and a great cook. She was at ease with my babe (and he with her), great with the older kids, and was REALLY great at helping me take care of myself. I cannot say enough wonderful things about Jamina  and our time with her!!
