Deb was such an incredible support to me and to my husband not only throughout my labor, but also during my pregnancy and postpartum experience. I'm so thankful that I had her guidance and reassurance during this journey -- having her support was invaluable. She always made me feel heard and cared for, and it was so nice to have someone in my corner that was as kind, non-judgemental, and helpful as Deb. My labor was long and hard and I truly don't know how I would have gotten through it without her. She helped me feel safe and empowered during such a monumentous in our lives. With her help, I was able to find my inner strength and have the best labor experience I could have had. My husband and her worked as a great team throughout the entire process, which meant a lot to both of us. After my baby was born, having Deb as a resource to talk to, ask question to, and to offer help meant so much to our family during the vulnerable 4th trimester. I always thought having a doula would be beneficial but she has exceeded all my expectations. I truly can't recommend Deb enough. Having her as my doula has been such a wonderful experience.
Where do I begin? How do you put to words someone so amazing that there aren’t enough words in the English language to describe? I’ll try my best to do her justice. I interviewed with other doulas but felt an instant connection with Debbie because of her personality. We were an instant match before meeting via email! She has a personality that is very accommodating and tailors to yours. She is honest but very polite and loving about giving “evidence based” information about your pregnancy, labor and delivery. She sends you educational evidence based and vetted material to read and watch. She provides you with reading material if you need it. She has so many resources and tools to help you during your labor such as pregnancy balls, diffuser, aromatherapy and pain relief techniques. She will meet with you in your home without really checking her watch for the time. She empowered me and My husband which drew us closer together. My husband and I were working like a team and love and respect each other on a whole new level thanks how Debbie trained and empowered us. Debbie does not judge and allows you to make your own decisions and have your own voice. And by doing this at the end of my pregnancy journey I felt so empowered, I now feel like a woman who is to be respected and who is very valuable and a woman who is accomplished and who can accomplish anything and everything thanks to Debbie. I will definitely hire her again in the future. I love her and see her as a treasure and as a vital part of my family.
Deb was exactly what I was looking for in a doula.. knowledgeable, comforting, loving, and supportive. I had no clue what a journey I was in for but I know I couldn’t have done it without her. From the beginning I felt safe and taken care of and even today, 4 months postpartum she still is doing that for me. The beautiful thing about Deb is that she is doing something she truly loves, something that she is constantly studying because she is passionate about it. I was in caring hands and for me that’s what I needed, someone to keep me going when labor got rough. Postpartum for me was very rough, she went over and above to make sure my son was ok and that I got the support I needed. I feel extremely blessed to have hired Debbie as our doula, and I know anyone who works with her will feel the same.
I had the priviledge of having Debra support me through the birth of my firstborn, Hudson. I had absolutely no idea what to expect out of a natural birth as I was/am the only person in my family to pursue an unmedicated birth, at home! The first time I met Debra, I knew she would be a part of my birth team. She had a completely calming, confident aura about her. And let me tell you, as a first time mom, that was gold! I was nervous; she calmed all my fears. I was unsure; she was confident in my ability. By the end of our first meeting, I felt empowered to give birth the way I envisioned! That's when I knew Debra was the doula for me. I tend to be an anxious person in situations I cannot control, but she made me feel safe and heard and supported.
Leading up to the birth, we discussed in detail the type of environment, and the type of physical and emotional support I desired. When the time came, it was as if I didn't need to say a word. She was so in tune with what I needed and wanted. My birth was calm, quiet, beautiful, supported, strong, and loving. Debra was at the center of all of it. I highly recommend Deb to anyone looking for a doula. She will be the best emotional and physical support! I moved to TX before the birth of my second and if I could have gotten her here fast enough for that birth, I would have!
Deb was wonderful throughout my pregnancy and birth! We didn't attend any birthing classes so in our pre-meetings she educated us, answered any questions we had, gave advice when I asked, advised me on my birth plan, etc. This was our first child so knowing that we had someone who had knowledge and could guide us through the process was a relief for both my husband and I. My labor progressed pretty quickly so Deb met us at the hospital. She was by my side the entire time - getting a cold wash cloth for my forehead, ice chips, a vomit bag, washcloth with peppermint to help my nausea - every time I turned around she had something I needed. I never needed to ask. That meant my husband never had to leave my side throughout the birth. Deb even helped take pictures once our daughter was born! I'd be happy to recommend Deb to anyone - she's an amazing help for both partners during pregnancy and birth!
Getting a doula is the best decision I made and I got so lucky to find Deb. She is not just a doula, she is your best friend and in the delivery she is ‘your eyes’ on everything while you can concentrate on just relaxing, enjoying the labor to the fullest and concentrating on pushing the baby under 30 minutes. Deb is very knowledgeable about everything you need in the process. You will never regret hiring her to be by your side throughout the whole process whether if it is vaginal delivery or c-section. I am definitely hiring her for our second time around.
I am so happy and so blessed to have had Deb as my Doula. Not only did she support me when I had mild PPD but she gave me the confidence that I could be the mother I have become. She helped me through the roughest time of my life as I was a first time, I did not know what to expect. Deb was such a great support when my family wasn’t there for me. I would hire all over again, definitely. I love Deb!
Deb came into our lives in a serendipitous way. We miscarried our first pregnancy, and so with our second - I, especially, knew I wanted emotional and tangible support. We also live far from family and wanted to ensure that we had the knowledge, experience, and care we needed during our labor. Whereas Deb's presence during the labor and birth was immeasurable, it was also her incredible support leading up to that day that we'll forever be thankful for. I recall meeting her for the first time when interviewing and feeling immediately "known" in terms of the fears, grief - and hope - I had for this second pregnancy. She understood - and our talks felt like therapy to me - healing as much as they were training. Deb gave us tours of the birth center, came to our home (which is a far distance) - and was always a phone call or email away. There were times that I could talk with my husband, my mom, or friends, but until I talked with Deb it was only then that I felt validated and confirmed in any pre-birth decisions. She helped us learn to be strong, confident, and our own advocates - and advocates for our baby. I had a very quick labor - and I have to attribute some of that to Deb's great tips and preparation in advance. Deb will forever be a part of our story - and the story of our beautiful baby girl! I would recommend her without hesitation - and especially to anyone who has suffered a prior loss or trauma. She is a doula - a healer, a baby wisperer, a friend.
My husband and I were hesitant about hiring a doula at first, but so incredibly glad we hired Debra! After several interviews with other doulas, we instantly felt comfortable with Deb and her relaxed attitude and non judgmental vibe. As a first time mom, I had a million questions about labor and delivery, and after meeting with Deb, a lot of my fears went away. One thing we really appreciated was her extremely quick responses with texts and emails. She was willing to meet with us several times at our home, and even offered to accompany me to my OB appointments!
Though the labor did not go as planned, we were very thankful to have Deb there with us during the birth, it was wonderful having her there for support and expertise. She was a great coach to my husband, and offered a lot of great suggestions to get the labor to progress. Our overall experience with Deb was wonderful, throughout the pregnancy, birth and postpartum, It was really nice having someone to talk to whenever I had any fear or concern. I would definitely 100% recommend hiring Debra as a doula, she is the best!
My husband and I were thrilled when we found out we were pregnant the summer of 2016; thrilled and clueless. I had specific expectations regarding my pregnancy and birth plan and in order to see these expectations through I knew we would need to acquire outside help.
Upon my first meeting with Debbie I knew she was a soul I wanted/needed by my side during my pregnancy and the labor of my son. She was always incredibly encouraging during our prenatal meetings, but what stood out the most was her strong calm demeanor during my labor. I feel that her continual display of kindness in her voice and in her facial expressions throughout my birth allowed for me to fully remain present in the beautiful moment of welcoming my son into the world.
I must also add that Debbie was equally as encouraging to my Husband and my Mother. She gave them the necessary knowledge they needed to help during my prenatal and postpartum moments. My husband felt useful during labor, he felt as though he was strongly invested in the birth of our son which in turn helped in creating a solid bond between father and son upon his birth.
My birth story is one of my most favorite memories, it is one I happily share with anyone interested in listening to and I know that Debbie had so much to do with this. She taught me so much about my “mommy” self and “mommy” strength in our meetings leading up to my birth and when the time came I welcomed labor with open arms and a clear mind.
Debra helped our family during the first four and last four weeks of our daughter's newborn period. As first-time parents, Debra was a wonderful coach who helped guide us in the very early stages of parenthood. She helped us learn and practice various infant care skills from bathing, swaddling, cloth diapering, and baby wearing. She offered me breastfeeding support by teaching me side lying nursing and how to pump. She imparted many practical tips and great product recommendations. At each visit, she also helped with light housekeeping on top of whatever I had on the agenda for the day. Her emotional support during the early weeks of postpartum recovery was invaluable. Debra's services would greatly benefit families with newborns, especially new parents. She is a great coach and gave us the confidence and encouragement to follow our chosen parenting style. I wholeheartedly recommend her as a postpartum doula.
