My husband and I both had such a wonderful experience working with Shea! Throughout my pregnancy she was available to answer any questions that I had, and even helped me find a new care provider when I decided mine was no longer a fit. During my labor, it was amazing to have Shea by my side providing support and helping me be as comfortable as possible, I don't know how I would have done it without her! Working with Shea was also great for my husband, he felt involved throughout the whole process, but really appreciated having someone with experience to guide us through everything. The process of birth is unpredictable, but we both felt comfortable going in that we would have a positive experience no matter what happened, thanks to Shea's support, and that was absolutely the case!

We loved having Shea as our doula! She provided amazing support for us  before, during and after the birth of our daughter.  Before our daughters birth I was showing lots of signs of things gearing up but nothing happening. Shea came over to help me and show my husband  some rebozo techniques and pressure points. I was also dealing with a few migraines and she showed me some tricks for that that really helped! When the time finally came, she showed up quickly and was a great support. I was experiencing  some back labor and she was able to apply counter pressure to help me get through that.

Shea has a very calming presence that is great to have when your in labor. My 6yr old was also present for the birth and Sheawas great at helping explain to my daughter what was happening and things to help me cope.   Imeaditetatly after my daughter was born she helped keep me calm while they had to suction her lungs for meconium.  Also in the weeks after delivery she was always there for me whether it was a text or calling her as I was dealing with some severe PPA. She really was able to talk me down from it and give me tips for dealing with my anxieties. That was my 3rd baby and we are done but if for some reason there's another, we'll have Shea as our doula!

The second we met with Shea we knew that she was going to be an integral part of our pregnancy and delivery. Shea is not only an amazing Doula but a loving and caring human being. I wanted a natural birth and Shea was supportive and well educated on ways to help me self-soothe. We had access to her and all of her tools the moment we hired her; which was when I was about 3 months pregnant. Any questions we had about pregnancy and birth were answered quickly and thoroughly. She made me feel so prepared, empowered, and excited for my daughter's birth.

During my labor, we found Shea to be far more superior to any of the nurses; she cared about our best interest while still being very respectful of the hospital, doctors, and nurses. She gave us the confidence in making all of the right choices for us. Even though my labor was 57 hours, Shea was there through it all. Even when she was not at the hospital, during the eventless hours, she was in constant contact with my husband via text.

Shea is an encouraging doula who helped me to remain calm during this entire major life event. When I was doubting myself or feeling like I could not go on, she was there to remind me of everything that I had learned and told me I was strong enough! Even though we had a doula, the birth was very much focused on my husband and me. She showed my husband ways to be involved with the birth and methods to help encourage and soothe my pain. We are so appreciative of this, without her guidance, my husband and I would have been lost. She made it such a wonderful and positive experience for us both.

Shea is also supportive postpartum. She has been an amazing resource for my husband and I. My daughter is almost one and Shea's support is still present. We are so appreciative of all that she has done for our family. She will forever be part of this amazing memory and we cannot thank her enough. If and when we get pregnant again, we will for sure have Shea by our side.

I decided to hire a doula with my second pregnancy after having a traumatic experience with my first one - a natural birth that I wasn't prepared for.  I stumbled upon Wise Birth Choices while doing some research online.  After contacting Jill, the owner, I was matched up with Shea.  From the first time I met Shea I could tell that this time around things were going to be different.   Shea is very warm, friendly, and calm. She fully supported all of my decisions and even helped me put together a solid birth plan.  She showed my husband and I how to use a rebozo blanket to ease discomfort during pregnancy.  And the day I was admitted into the hospital, Shea was there to support me throughout the process.  She was an advocate for me and my requests and needs.  She took my mind off of any discomfort I was experiencing with great conversation, massages, and by putting me in different positions that were more comfortable.  She also gave us a heads up on what's going to happen next - what the nurses are measuring, when my epidural will be admistered, etc.  We even shared a laugh when Patrick, one of the anesthesiologists, arrived to top off my epidural.  He mentioned that his mom named him and all of his brothers after saints so I said, "Thank you, St. Patrick!"

Hiring Doula Shea was one of the best decisions I made in my life.  The day I gave birth to my son was one of the most memorable and enjoyable days thanks to her.  I cannot thank her enough!

There are not enough kind words to describe the wonderful experience I had with my excellent doula team and particularly Shea! Shea is a warm, lovely person with a calm and friendly nature. Right away she made me feel comfortable, as if we were friends for years! Her brilliant sense of humor, wit and sweetness was exactly the vibe I needed to feel comfortable. Shea consistently encouraged me to lean on her and was always checking in and offering support throughout my pregnancy. While in labor, she kept this first time mama comfortable and advocated on my behalf. Shea was fantastic support for me postpartum, assisting with breastfeeding, postpartum anxiety and any and all concerns and questions I had. Additionally she helped me learn wrapping and brought a sense of joy to all of our interactions. I felt that Shea was understanding, reassuring and always took my feelings and concerns seriously. I would want no other doula in place of her - she played an important role in ensuring I had a successful birth. I was terrified of labor before this experience and I can say with honesty and confidence that being supported by her & my other doula enabled me to move through the experience in a way that I look back on it fondly. I absolutely adore and love this woman for the kind, warm, gentle and friendly way she treated me during the most significant experience of my life. She is now working with a friend of mine who also adores her. I recommend her enthusiastically and without reservation to anyone and everyone who will listen!

Shea was such an amazing Doula and an amazing person overall. I was blessed to have found her and her partner for my birth experience. She is knowledgeable and gives you all options and information while making you feel confident with whichever decision you make. I truly felt that she was on my side throughout every second of my time with her. I am grateful for my birth experience because of my Doulas, I don't know how I would have done it without them. I have referred anyone I can to them now and for any future babies. I will definitely be calling them again for my next bundle of joy.

The support Shea provided for myself and my family was phenomenal.  She was a constant source of compassion, understanding, and knowledgeable information throughout our pregnancy and birth.  When Shea agreed to be our doula, we were planning a midwife assisted home birth.  When we found out at 30 weeks into pregnancy that we were expecting twins, we found ourselves in dire need of support as we had to (very quickly) change our entire birth plan.  Shea was an invaluable resource as we found a new care provider and planned for a hospital birth.  She was constantly there for me and helped me stay grounded as I struggled with these last minute changes all the while showing unwavering compassion.  Due to one of our twins presenting breech, our delivery was by Cesarean, which was far from the natural home birth we originally planned, but having Shea's support made the change of plans a bit easier to cope with.  We are absolutely grateful to have had Shea to help us navigate the unexpected as we welcomed our twins!
