I am a career woman. I waited 37 years for this day to arrive...I gave birth to a healthy, beautiful baby girl. During my pregnancy I tried to get everything in order -OB GYN, books to read, reached out to friends, signed up for bogus hospital classes and learned about a Doula. Immediately, I was stunned, DOULA!!!??? YES! I need one. Then, weeks passed by, and I wasn't sure how the hell I was going to find someone who would be nothing less than EXCELLENT....and then, I crossed paths with Emily and Anna. A team of feminist divas who empower ever decision you make in the labor room. I was 27 hours in labor and Emily coached me and Gary through it all. A Doula does everything...calms you, gives you a bath, cleans up your piss, makes eye contact, coaches your husband, greets your family....there isn't one single thing EMILY was not willing to do for me. One thing I regret is not taking advantage of the after birth visit. I had breastfeeding challenges and didn't even know. My kid lost 14% of their birth weight, and passed crystals in her urine from deyhration...I learned all of this on day 3. Oh well, you live and you learn...today Braelyn is nearly 5 months -babbles, smiles, holds her neck, rolls, nurses we just love love love her. Emily was apart of my once in a life time experience and we salute her! Thank you Emily for supporting us to have our baby BIB (her initials) join the world.

My husband and I decided to hire a doula less than two weeks before our due date after realizing we needed knowledgeable support to help guide us through the birthing process. After quite a bit of research we contacted Chicago Family Doulas and met with Emily. Her experience and personality put us right at ease. I ended up having an extremely long labor and delivery and Emily never wavered in her commitment to help us though the entire process. She stayed the entire time and provided constant support, reassurance, and techniques to help us through the delivery. We were very happy with her help and guidance. My husband and I both agree that we made the right decision in hiring Chicago Family Doulas and would hire Emily again in a heartbeat.

Emily is professional and reliable and was a godsend during my labor.  She came to my apartment at the perfect time, was decisive in telling me when we needed to go to the hospital, and was amazingly helpful riding in the car with us to the hospital (she and I rode in the back seat and she applied pressure to my hips during each contraction).  Once at the hospital she was on her toes the entire time, getting me anything I needed, voicing my needs to hospital staff when I was uable to and helping me through each stage of labor.  I couldn't have done it without her!  Highly recommend.

Emily...she is the best!  Emily met our family when I was 7 months pregnant with our 3rd child.  We had a 3 and 5 year old awaiting their little sister.  Emily jumped in right away and instinctually knew the balance of independently doing what needed to be done, and also asking how she could help.

Emily is amazing with children, AND also a baby-whisperer.  She is thoughtful about approaching everything from sleep, to nursing/feeding, to play, to balancing siblings, to self care. Emily has the abililty to support you where you are, and offer insights, without telling you "what you should do", a very powerful combination when things are feeling overwhelming, and very chaotic.

Due to an unexpected c-section, Emily stepped right in and provided extra help with the children: driving, cooking and playing.  She encouraged me to rest, shower, eat and take care of myself emotionally.  I completely trusted Emily with the baby and the baby loved her right from the beginning.  She has impeccable judgement and a gentle, confident demeanor that establishes easy connections right away.  Her knowledge is both studied and due to her many years of experience knowing and being around babies and small children.  This is very helpful in the beggining, even for a second or third time mom, who is getting to know a brand new person.

As a doula myself, I had high expectations.  Emily met them, and taught me so much!  She is a wonderful doula, and will one day make an amazing Midwife.  We were very fortunate to have her in our lives.  I would recommend her in a heartbeat.

Emily has been with our family for the last 3 years. Honestly, I don't know what we would do without her. Not only is she one of the most responsible nannys we have ever used, she is also one of the kindest. She is so knowledgeable  with children and she also knows how to provide a warm and nurturing environment  for them to thrive. She is very passionate  about what she does. Not only with my children, but with her work as a doula or really any other endeavors I have seen her take part in. She really enjoys helping others. If you are looking for someone who can provide a strong and gentle presence at the same time, especially  while experiencing childbirth she is a perfect match. Our family is forever grateful for having her!

Emily was our post partum doula/night nurse over the course of several nights when we had our second baby and that whole "sleep when the baby sleeps" option was no longer. We started after i was not nursing, so it was amazing to go to bed at 8, and wake up at 6 with clean laundry, cooked food in the fridge, dishes done and a baby who was well cared for all night there to greet me. I could go to bed feeling confident that my little guy was in great care. Great investment for my mental health and sanity.

My experience with Emily was great. We got such peace of mind knowing that she would be with us for labor and the birth. Having had a scary experience with my first born (c-section), my husband and I wanted to have an advocate for us in the hospital. With number two, I was most worried about the long car ride to the hospital, which had the possiblity of being up to an hour and a half if we had to leave during rush hour. We did end up having to leave during rush hour, and Emily came quickly to the house and helped us get in the car. She helped keep me calm in between contractions and helped ease the pain during contractions by pressing on my hips. She offered different positions too, which I wouldn't have thought of. Overall, I can't imagine that car ride without her!

Once we were at the hospital, Emily was by my side, offering various comfort measures and helping me to breathe through the pain. She did not judge when I decided to get the epidural. Then during the pushing, she cheered me along. I am so happy to have made the decision to have the support and advice of a doula and I highly recommend Emily!
