Deb attended my unmedicated hospital VBAC and was there to support me through pregnancy and childbirth. She came to my home while we waited to go to the hospital, helped me process getting sent home when I felt I was ready to be admitted and supported me through the fairly fast labor that came when I was admitted a few hours later. I didn't labor the way I thought I would but she helped me find comfortable positions that would work with what my body wanted to do.
She even took some pictures with my camera that I can't wait to check out!
I was already recommending her to others before my baby was born but now I can say without a doubt that she's an asset to have by your side on your birth journey.

I was on a local mom board online and mentioned I was attempting a VBAC with my second baby due in just a few short months. Then, Debra came into my life. She highly encouraged me to hire a doula and explained to me all the ways one could help me achieve the birth that I wanted. I was hesitant, not only because I couldn't really afford one because we had just moved across the country and bought a house,. And while I lean toward the "crunchy" side of things, I was by no means having a home birth or anything of the sort. I was afraid to have a doula that would judge or push me into a birth that was different than what I wanted in the name of being "natural". I was okay with leaving it open ended and just pushing it as far as I could go.
Debra and I worked out a birth plan that was a perfect balance between natural and what I was willing to consider. While she encouraged me to have a natural, unmedicated birth because of the higher success rate for a VBAC, she constantly reminded me that it was MY experience. Her interventions helped me with not only pain but some birth trauma I had from my first birth experienced. She was even able to lower my baby's heart rate after several nurses had tried and failed! With just a few simple tools she was able to make me more comfortable. It seemed as though there were times that she new exactly what I needed without me even asking. And when it came time for me to make big decisions she was an amazing sounding board for my husband and I. She was well educated and had all of the information we needed right when we needed them. She was so prepared.
I ended with another Csection after a couple of hours of pushing but my main goals of going into labor naturally this time and attempting the VBAC were reached. I have no regrets and I couldn't have done some of the things without the love, support and respect I received from Debra. Hiring her was the best decision we made for this birth.
