When I first met Randi I was 32 weeks pregnant, and had just moved to Powell River. After speaking to my midwife about my wish to have a doula, but the inability to afford one at the time, I was given Randi's phone number - as Randi was also pregnant and in their care. This was a huge relief to me as I had already paid for doula services in another town, but had ended up moving. Randi stepped into my birth story at the perfect time. She graciously offered her services, and soon became not only my trusted doula, but also a close friend and confidant. Throughout my last trimester and my labour, she supported me in ways I never expected. She accompanied me on beautiful hikes and swimming trips, took me up mountains and invited me to her home for gatherings and delicious food. I really felt emotionally supported in this brand new town, as Randi seemed to make it impossible to feel otherwise. Randi is extremely learned in the subjects of pregnancy, labour, and birth. She is truly a women's champion. I went to 43 weeks 1 day, so even though I was planning a home birth I ended up in the hospital for monitoring for ever few days I went post date. Through all of that, Randi continued to encourage and support me, and helped me through every tough call I had to make. She knew my wishes inside and out, and effectively advocated for me when necessary. With Randi at my side, I felt confident and capable. She often reminded me of my strength and intuitve wisdom. When the day finally came to bring my son into the world, Randi immediately came to my side. My labour progressed perfectly and Randi literally held my hand every step of the way. She kindly preformed Reiki on me when needed, fed me honey and water, and took care of all contact with my midwife. Never in my life had I felt so safe and loved. She helped me to be fearless, to expect normal. Randi truly went above and beyond the her call of duty, and I will always be grateful for the roll she played in my story.

I heard through mutual friends that Randi was a doula when I first found out I was pregnant. I actually didn't even know the difference between a doula and a midwife, and really what either of their roles were... just that they both had something to do with labour & babies! We met up at a local coffee shop and I felt right away at ease with Randi, like we had been friends for many years. She gives off warm vibes, and has a nice balance professional & nurturing mama-like figure. I had wanted a natural homebirth but didn't know what to expect & prepare for - having my midwives and Randi educating & encouraging me throughout my pregnancy helped me anticipate the birth with excitement. I went into labour in the middle of the night, and it was a nice buffer to be able to text Randi before I contacted my midwives, in case it was false labour. As my labour progressed that night, Randi was the first to arrive and helped me to relax and stay bonded with my partner, as well as simply being a calming presence in our space. I had a wonderful homebirth & was happy to have Randi there to share the experience with our family! :)
