We were so grateful to have Charish join our team a second time for our recent homebirth and fourth little treasure’s arrival. Labor had many ups and downs, twists and turns, and she was with us for the almost the entire 20 hours of it (we called her two hours into the process). Just like the birth of our second son, Charish came prepared with her amazing hip squeezes, her wonderful sense of humor, and her studious dedication that allowed her to seamlessly integrate with the rest of the team. She was able brainstorm and work with the team in order to guide me through position changes, take me on (dreaded) walks around the neighborhood, and help my tired body from shower to bed to tub to finally deliver our fourth son in the wee hours of the morning. She stealthily took photos throughout the labor, knowing I’d want to look back on them as I wrote my birth story. When I needed to cry, she reassured me with her gentle voice while she held me. When I needed to roar through a contraction, she was there to remind me to try to deepen my vocalizations. Throughout labor, she was able to flawlessly flow with the needs of the moment, whether that was assisting me or trading off with my husband or our other doula in the care of our three other children so that I could labor knowing they were well cared for when I couldn’t be there. Our family has been so blessed by the care received during both pregnancies, births, and postpartums and the friendship that has blossomed from our time together.
Charish was recommended by my cousin after she had a great experience with her. We had no idea what a doula was. After talking to her and learning more about what a doula was, we decided to use her services! We had no idea we had options other than having to be in a hospital bed worth an IV, an epidural and continuous monitoring. My first pregnancy with my son was a high risk pregnancy after years of infertility treatmemts. My placenta partially ruptured at 27 weeks and I was on bedrest. Charish came to our house and educated my husband and I on various birthing positions and options and the dangers of interventions like epidurals. By merely having her support at his birth our chances of needing a csection decreased significantly. Our miracle boy was born with all of our expectations and more met! She continued to support us after his birth with breastfeeding questions and emptional support. A friendship between pur families was born with our son. Fast forward to 2 and a half years after his birth, pregnant again, with another high risk pregnancy, our beloved daughter. We wanted a foula again for support. My husband insisted on mo other than Charish. Our daughters birth was induced but Charish helped me navigate my healthcare decisions, supporting my choices, to have another natural birth. My daughter's birth was scarier than my son's but Charish helped me to manage the pain with various techniques, positions and essential oils. She was able to once again guide my husband to also support me. We highly recommend Charish and her services! And everytime we have friends that pir pregnant we educate them on what a doula is and give them her contact info.
After the birth of my son didn’t go well at all I knew I wanted a doula for my daughters birth. I was also shooting for a vbac and had tons of anxiety about giving birth again. Charish was always there whenever I needed to taok and was very knowledgeable with the natural child birth process. She knows pain relief techniques used during labor and also was able to help me relax during my five days of prodromal labor. She was there to support me during the birth of my daughter which I was able to achieve the vbac I wanted. She was also there to assist me with my daughters first latch. I will forever be greatful for Charish‘s kindness and wisdom throughtout my pregnancy and delivery!
Charish was an amazing asset and resource during our pregnancy and birth! We moved to the area during our pregnancy, knowing no one, and having an instant connection with her during her interview and watching her play with our 15 month old really helped us. She was incredibly thoughtful and very much a team player, checking in on us regularly during the pregnancy, teaming up with our second doula to ensure all the wishes of our birth plan were met, and establishing a beautiful relationship with our toddler, who was present at baby brother’s birth. Our labor lasted (off and on) for 6 days and she was there all three times we went to the birth center, spending hours each time on comfort measures, sibling support, and diligently assisting in getting baby turned so that he could be born. Her rapport with my husband and son throughout the entire process was amazing and allowed me to relax, knowing they were well supported. Watching my toddler snuggled into her arms sleeping while I labored is one of my favorite memories! Her knowledge and skills were invaluable in achieving our natural water birth. She even found time, through everything else, to take some photos for us! I am honored today to call her our friend and look forward to having her as an attendant for the births of all future blessings that come along!
We had an awesome experience with Charish!!! I was being induced and was shooting for a VBAC so it was important to me to have as much support as possible to achieve what I hoped for. Charish was able to provide me every tool necessary to achieve a successful VBAC!! Her care and support was immeasurable. I truly believe she was the reason why I could deliver my baby without an epidural under the circumstances I faced. Without her I believe my experience would have been less than ideal. Our whole family is grateful for the support we received during pregnancy, delivery, and immediately postpartum!
Charish was recommended to me after a previously scheduled doula was unable to be present at the birth of our first born, and I am so appreciative the circumstances brought us together. Within an hour of me contacting her, we were already on the phone discussing my desires and scheduling a time to meet. Our first meeting was supposed to last an hour, but ended up being close to three because we were having such a great time talking like we were old friends. She took the time to really get to know what I wanted from this first birth experience, and share with me all the things she could offer. She also was a wealth of knowledge about things I hadn't even considered, such as placenta encapsulation and the use of essential oils. When my water broke and hours later I still wasn't having contractions, Charish calmly suggested things I could do to help my labor progress. She remained this calm presence throughout my labor, even when things were not going the way I had hoped. She knew when to jump in and how and when to support my husband. She provided a safe environment to talk about all the hard decisions that I had to make in terms of changing my birth plan, and was there to provide encouragement and support with all of my decisions. I had a tough delivery, both emotionally and physically, and she was always by my side. She sat with me in the middle of the night, talking when I wanted to and as a hand to hold when I didn't. She stayed with me for hours and hours, something my husband and I are so appreciative of. Even after we were settled in at home, she continually checked on us and came to provide postpartum support. I would definitely recommend Charish as a birth doula, not only for her wealth of knowledge and her ability to provide support throughout the labor and delivery processes, but also because of her generally kind and compassionate nature that helped me to grieve for the birth experience I didn't have but look forward to in the furture.
This was my third and last child, & I thought I possibly wanted a doula. I met with Charish and decided to do it! She was great with education prior to delivery, and assisted in trying to bring labor on (I was going to be a forced induction due to medical issues). My labor was nothing as I intended or wanted. Charish was there to support my decisions, even though NONE of them followed the plan I had! The MOST important part of having Charish and her support (in my specific situation) was post partum....breastfeeding. I wasn't keen on the idea to begin with, and thought with my medical issues I wouldn't produce enough milk to feed my baby. She gently coached me to give it a try. It is tough.....and honestly, without her support I would NOT be still nursing my 5 month old baby! For that I am greatful. <3 <3 <3 I was a tough client.....at least I think! And she handled myself (& my husband!) with grace. You can tell she truly loves what she does, and makes you feel important. It was nice having another woman who understands by your side; even if you have your family there, it's still a nice buffer! Highly recommended!!! Thank you, Charish :)
I have never considered myself to be a "crunchy" person, however I felt the best decsion for myself and our baby was the natural birth process. I had come to this decision through research and common sense. Once we picked our OB my husband and I discussed all the possible scenarios for a healthy natural birth and knew we were in over our heads. This was our first child and we really had no way of knowing the amount of stress this process was going to put on my body and we needed a way of coping. Our answer was Charish! She was so dear, she called in to check on me through out my whole pregnancy. She answered our questions with both factual based research and her experience as a mother of 4. I have no sisters and it was vital to have a woman who has experienced several different types of birth herself in addition to having been present at many other births. When she encouraged us to take a birthing class we communicated how much we wanted to, but could not because of my husbands work schedule. She so kindly tailored lamaze classes to our schedule!
With all this preparedness my birth was not an easy one and did not go as we expected. Both my husband and I were overwhelmed by the type of labor I experienced and how I dealth with the pain. Charish helped us to push past our exhaustion so that we did everything we could to avaid a c-section. Even though our process wasn't text book and our birth plan was shattered, we had a healthy vaginal birth with a beautiful baby girl! She checked in on us post partum and made us feel at ease. Words cannot describe how much we recommend Charish and her services!
I have been using natural medicine and organic foods for years. Ever since I learned that traditional deodorant was causing breast cancer and other health issues due to the chemical additives, aluminum and artificial fragrances, it made me look deeper into everything I use. The same goes for my whole family, we are ever vigilant of hidden toxins, and try to use natural cures and remedies for most things.
I have known Charish since we were in middle school together. So when I was pregnant with my first child, she came to me and told me she was training to become a Dula. I was surprised and happy to know that I would have a friend that was interested in natural medicine as I am. She was able to help me through the end of my pregnancy and give me tips on natural child birth as well as helpful remedies for the baby she was born.
When I started to go into labor, Charish was on call and ready to be there when we needed her. My husband was grateful that she was there helping to explain things as they were happening, and keeping him calm when I needed him. Charish was a great help during my labor and I am happy to have had her as a dula and a friend.
