I met with Maddie a few weeks before I was due because our first doula wasn't going to work out. We immediately connected, and I knew she was the right one for my son's birth! She met with my husband and I many times before the birth to solidify the birth plan (we wanted all natural, no interventons). If there was ever something that she wanted to suggest or warn us about, she did it in a very respectful and non-offensive manner. She is extremely detail oriented when it comes to all things birth which made my hubby feel much better. During the labor and delivery, Maddie was right next to me the whole time. She offered a calming touch and soothing tone of voice for my natural (and pitocin supplemented!) labor. SHe used many techniques for coping with the pain, and was NEVER pushy. She supported my hubby as well. After my son was born, she made sure I was okay, my hubby was okay, and asked if we wanted her to stay. Seeing as she had been with us for 10+ hours, and been up all day the day before, I was more than happy to tell her to go get some rest! She did visit us the day after and went over some breastfeeding/post partum tips. I really don't know how I can express what a wonderful job she did, and how supportive she was of the birth we wanted. I highly recommend Maddie, expecially if you're looking to go natural, and are open to awesome massages! We not only had Maddie as our doula, but we now have a lifelong friend too :) We love you Maddie!
Maddie was a helpful part of my birth experience. We originally included her as we thought I would go into labor while my husband was away for army training. My primary doula thought it might be a good idea to have another doula to work with us while my husband traveled home. As it turns out I was induced several weeks early in what becsme a multi-day induction. Maddie came about halfway through when I went into active labor. it was a unique situation in that we had not met before. She was able to jump right in and provide comfort for me through gentle words, guidance, massage, and energy work. After several rounds of pitocin and other procedures to get my body ready for labor, I was in unbelievable discomfort and pain. Maddie used massage and energy work to help me manage my pain. I was able to wait to use the epidural until I absolutely needed it, therefore making the pain relieving drugs the most useful they could be. I was very impressed with Maddie and would recommend her services. after my birth experienc, neither my husband nor I would hesitate to hire a doula. Having my doulas there allowed me to have the birth experience I had hoped for after multiple complications that could have easily ended with a c section. Maddie was a big part of that!
