To Whom it may concern,

I do not have enough words to thank Sue for being our Doula.

Sue is a fantastic doula and a great human being. She is very knowledgable and personable. And, It is precisely her approach to labor what makes you feel supported and encouraged throughout this experience. During our close to 25 hours of labor experience, my wife and I felt supported, amazingly guided, and blessed; it was altogether a fantastic experience. Sue was there with us all the way, always alert and ready to suggest and help us make the best decisions.

We are so thankful to God for putting Sue in our lives.

Best Regards,

There is no doubt in my mind that working with Sue through our pregnancy made it such a successful birth of our baby girl!  I interviewed 4 local doulas including Sue and we just felt a sense of peace and confidence with Sue.  She was available leading up to the birth by phone, text and email.  We met in our home to write up our birth plan, which was very helpful and clued me in on options I would have never thought about otherwise.  Our baby ended up being transverse and Sue went to the hospital with us for our version at 35 weeks.  This was so helpful and comforting knowing Sue had Labor and Delivery knowledge and because none of my family was able to be there (outside of my husband).  She attended a midwife appointment with us and then was obviously available on the day of the birth.  When contractions started getting stronger, she met us at our house and labored with us until it was time to go to the birthing center.  Sue really advocated for me there when my blood pressure was high and there was a chance I could have to be transfered to the hospital.  I had my eyes closed through much of my really fast labor, but Sue was there applying counter pressure during contractions and encouraging me along.  I know she was praying for us and that was powerful as well!  I tore significantly during labor and had to get stitched up at the hospital.  Sue came with me since my husband and our baby couldn't leave the birthing center yet.  I can't imagine going alone!  Again, we had such a quick and successful birth and Sue was a key reason for that!  I'd book her again in a heartbeat for any additonal pregnancies!  Thank you Sue!  We're so happy you were part of our journey!

After the delivery of my first son being a less than ideal experience that ended in a c-section, I determined to try for a VBAC the next time I became pregnant. I realized I would need a doula to help me achieve my goal. A friend of mine passed along Sue's card and after looking her up I decided she seemed like a good match so I reached out to meet with her. I felt very comfortable with Sue and knew her experience as a doula and previously a labor and delivery nurse would be invaluable during my labor.

Sue was so helpful during the whole process helping me manage the pain and suggesting different ideas to try to help the labor along. She supported my decisions during labor and anticipated my needs in a way that allowed my husband to just be with me and have a more enjoyable process. She worked very well with my doctor and nurse and my doctor even mentioned wanting to hire her!

In the end I was able to have the VBAC I desired even with a 9 lb 13 oz baby and I could not have done it without Sue.

"When I first approached Sue about being a doula for the birth of our sixth child, I knew she had 11 years experience as a labor and delivery nurse. That was enough experience for me to have confidence in her, but after she agreed to help us, she immediately signed up to take a doula training course. She really impressed me with her level of commitment to be the best doula she could be! She proved to be just that!
Her care for me began long before labor ever started. She met with me weeks before the birth to discuss my expectations, preferences, and concerns for the birth. We talked about my options for a natural birth and went over my past experiences. This time of communication was so helpful and created a bond of trust. She called frequently to see how I was doing and often prayed with me. She was even so kind as to bring some meals to my family during the last month of pregnancy when I was needing more rest.
As my time drew near, she spent a late night at the hospital with us when I thought I was in labor. She shared my disappointment at having to go home when I didn't progress. She was so helpful and reassuring in this decision. She was there the next morning when we went back to the hospital -- this time for the real thing! Her manner was so calming; she was always sensitive to my needs and made suggestions to help labor move along. Communicating with the hospital staff on my behalf and including my husband in the labor process were definitely her forte! When things got tough, she stayed right with me, constantly encouraging me. She celebrated with us when our baby was born.
It is so wonderful to have someone by your side to ease the fears and and to help make the experience of birth a beautiful memory. That is the job of a doula . . . and Sue definitely blessed us with her care and skill. Thank you, Sue!"

The number 1 reason I chose Sue was because of her 11 year L&D experience. If I was having another one, I'd also have Sue in the room with me. She was amazing to work with. The medical staff also really enjoyed her-- citing that she was completely focused on me, professional and knew what she was doing. I agree. I'm not sure I would've gotten my VBAC without her... I will FOREVER be grateful. Thank you Sue.

Sue is an amazing doula! Her years of experience as a labor and delivery nurse set her apart from other doulas. She was available to answer questions throughout my pregnancy. Throughout labor and delivery she acted as a liaison between the nurses and myself. She was helpful and supportive in helping me have a natural birth with my son. Her presence helped free up my husband to be there for me completely and to not have to worry about anything else. She has been a great resource for postpartum questions and support. I would recommend Sue to anyone looking for a doula! Thank you Sue!

I simply cannot say enough about this wonderful woman.  She came into my life through a friend of mine that I met during a tough time in my life.  It's true how they say that everything happens for a reason.

I suffer from an anxiety disorder that causes me to have panic attacks and since this was my first child, I had an extreme amount of anxiety about having a panic attack during delivery.  Sue was such a calming influence.  The first time we met she came to my home and asked me some questions about my family, my health and my expectations for delivery.  I found myself in tears, and not sad tears, but tears of joy over the thought of welcoming my precious bundle of joy into this world.  She was by my side along the entire journey - available via phone or email to answer my questions or just listen.

In the days and weeks that preceded my daughter's birth I called on her more and more for advice and encouragement.  I ended up 10 days overdue and in labor for an insane amount of time (nearly 43 hours).  We called her when we first arrived at the hospital and she arrived not long after, even though it was (of course) the middle of the night.  She kept me moving when I didn't want to, made sure I had everything I needed and even rubbed my feet.  My family would have been lost without her!

When it came time to welcome my baby into the world, she was by my side, holding my legs back, and offering gentle (her firm) encouragement.  She stayed by my side until several hours after my little baby girl was born and helped me start to nurse for the first time.

Sue is a one-of-a-kind soul.  She is a gentle, understanding, loving and kind-hearted woman who would do anything for you if you need it.  I could not be happier with my experience and would recommend her to anyone looking for a doula!
