Karyn was fantastic for our family! We wanted a natural childbirth for our second daughter, after having an epidural with the first. Karyn met with us several times leading up to our due date and was continuously in contact with me for support and encouragement.
She helped teach my husband different ways to comfort me through contractions, which came in handy when I was in labor. It was great that she was support for both me and my husband, asking him about his comfort level with various aspects of labor and delivery.
Karyn is a kind, warm and compassionate person. She listened to our desires for labor and delivery and gave us tools to support our birth plan.We had a natural childbirth without an epidural. Karyn was comforting and helped me to relax through the pain. While the birth happened quickly (praise God) and we didn't have the opportunity to use all of the tools we had planned, it was very comforting to feel confident and prepared with Karyn by my side.
This was my second time giving birth but for my husband, this was his first child. I felt completely comfortable with this not being my first time but I knew my husband could use the extra support so I wouldn't be stuck laboring and keeping him sane all at the same time. That was the reason why we decided to go with a doula. But as my pregnancy progressed we encountered complications. My husband was handling it better than I was. Karyn was compassionate and understanding. She was there to just let me vent or talk things out. This was a benefit I was not expecting nor perceived of needing. So long before my daughter ever was born I was understanding the value of having Karyn as my doula.
When the time actually came for labor and delivery she was just as amazing as she was during the pregnancy. She provided support for my husband and when he needed a break she stepped up to take his place. 24 hours of labor and experiencing every emotion possible in that time, she was our rock and cheerleader. She even stayed after delivery to help me start breast feeding. She is an amazing woman with a bright spirit that is infectious. I couldn't imagine not having her there.
Karyn was an incredible blessing and an asset at my birth. She was calm, relaxing, energetic, hard working, easy to work with, comforting, nurturing and so much more. She was exactly what we were wanting in a doula. She was quick to jump in and help when needed and catered to my requests during contractions. She was extremely helpful for my husband because she brought a steady and encouraging presence to our birth at home. She encouraged and helped him to help me better. I used a much more "experienced" doula at my last birth and thought Karyn did a better job filing the role at our birth this time. She is an awesome doula! Highly recommend!
