From the moment we met Brandi, my husband and I knew that she was the doula for us! She was personable, knowledgeable, and always available for any questions we had. From the beginning she met with us to discuss our birth options. Because of her affiliation with Barefoot Birth, I was able to go to classes to help us get ready for our first baby like a Breastfeeding Class and Baby Boot Camp. Brandi came to our home and always made us feel comfortable. I had SO many questions and she was so patient with me as we solidified our ideal birth plan. She was available in the middle of the night when my water broke and even brought my husband coffee when we went to the hospital! I don’t know how I would have gotten through my natural birth without Brandi! She helped guide my husband to keep me comfortable. She also helped me through massage, music, breathing, and so much more! Brandi also helped encapsulate my placenta afterwards and delivered it promptly to the house when we arrived back home. My husbands words are “worth every penny and I would hire Brandi again in a second!” I whole-heartedly agree. We will definitely hire Brandi again if we are blessed with another baby!
I honestly don't know how I could have done it without Brandi!! I gave birth to my first child, Lillian Rae, on July 17, 2017!
I pride myself on the amount of research I put into things I really care about - like having the most healthy pregnancy, delivery, and recovery as possible. The more I learned, the more I knew I would want a doula as a part of my birth plan. I wanted an all-natural, non-medicated, intervention-free delivery. I was planning a hospital birth as well. I knew a doula could be my advocate for my wishes, help manage expectations, and support me throughout the process. Especially since this was a totally new experience for both my husband and me! Knowledge can only get you so far.
I had some referrals for local doulas, but none were still practicing. Fortunately I found Brandi through a midwifery I had heard about from a friend. I just loved Brandi's sweet and calm disposition, but also her confidence and obvious passion for helping women have the birth experiences they desired. She was a great resource, even for the little things - like packing my hospital bag and what to expect at the hospital. And when I was in labor, she came over as soon as I asked her to so she could help me through contractions and tell me when it was probably a good time to go to the hospital. And of course, she had such a HUGE role in helping with the big things - like coaching and encouraging me through my most vulnerable moments - hard labor, bearing down, and pushing till little Lilly came! She was even a great neutral presence when there was tension between my mom and husband! Brandi stayed with us till I was out of the delivery room and even helped with Lilly's first breastfeeding. After I delivered, one of the nurses asked if she was a nurse, because she "said everything right".
I highly recommend Brandi. She will be your advocate, coach, and a sweet reassurance during such a vulnerable and incredible time. Her support continues today!
Brandi was a wonderful doula. During my pregnancy she always shared useful information and kept me informed on events and classes about birth and breastfeeding. I had a very long hospital labor and she was by my side the entrire time to help me through it. I have a difficult but loving family and she helped manage the situation when everyone was hanging around while I was labor and making things move much slower. She communicated well with the hospital staff/midwives about what I wanted. She gave me the confidence to labor for a long time without any medication and knew exactly when I needed counter pressure for back labor. She was also ready with soothing music and dim lights to make the hospital room feel more home-like. Ultimately I ended up getting an epidural but Brandi made sure it was my descision and not becasue I was being pushed by anyone. Even long after my birth she still keeps an open line of communication for any breastfeeding or baby problems I may have. I can say with certainty that if I ever give birth again I would hire Brandi.
when we found ourselves pregnant with our 3rd child i considered having a doula again but wasn't completely happy with how things had turned out with the doula we hired for our second birth. my 1st was born through an emergency c/s and 2nd was an epidural assisted vbac, despite the goal of going med free with bradley birth class preparation. after meeting with Brandi, i was confident that she could provide much more support than our previous experience, and she was able to answer all of my questions with ease, demonstrating to me she had plenty of birth experience. we met several times in advance to go over my birth preferences and for her to get to know me and my husband, and i was impressed by her honesty and openess, and her calmness. i knew she would be essential to our med-free plans, she even showed us how to use the rebozo and the birth ball since i was concerned about optimal fetal position for labor. when it came time for her to assist me in labor, she showed up and immediately got to work, setting up music and coaching me during each contraction, knowing when i needed just verbal reassurances and when i needed touch and how to squeeze my hips when the back pain started. she took charge when necessary, knowing exactly when we needed to go to the hospital and provided invaluable support during the 30 minute car ride, the entire of which i spent in transition with stacked contractions. i credit Brandi's calm demanor to my fast labor- i had a baby in my arms only 20 min after we got to the hospital, and less than 3 hrs after she arrived to support active labor! if it weren't for Brandi, i would have ended up with an unassisted bathtub birth or would have been at the hospital too early crying for an epidural. Brandi also did a great job encapsulating the placenta and made me some wonderful herbal bath satchels. i highly recommend her!
It took some convincing to get my husband to be on board to hire a doula for our first child due to cost. We live in Florida with no family nearby so I wanted to have the support that I can count on. I am glad we hired Brandi after all that I went through delivering back in September 2016 and I would without a doubt recommend her for your deliveries. She was great keeping me informed and meeting with me as the day came closer and she contnued connecting with me after the delivery. During labor and delivery, Brandi worked with my Mom and Husband to make sure I was taken care of. It was helpful to utilize her bag of treats from an ice pack, candles, aromotherpay, etc. I hope to hire her again when we go for child #2. After everything I went through, both my Husband and my Mother saw the true value of having Brandi on their team. Thanks Brandi!
I'm laying here, breastfeeding my baby, who just a week ago was only right underneath my abdomen where he lays. Reminscing about his birth... The hard enduring parts , the awkward parts, every piece of it. One part which sticks out the most is throughout my 19 hour labor was the consistent emotional support of my doula, Brandi. Her support throughout never weathered. She was there every minute by my side, encouraging me to push through and speaking to me in a very light and calming voice that assured me that I could get through this.
Not only was Brandi there for me, but also for my husband. Her presence there comforted him to have someone share in the experience of aiding me in labor.
She is worth her weight in gold. I'm not sure if we will have a second child, but I know for certain if we do, I want Brandi by my side .
i can't say enough great things about Brandi. This was my first birth and we had a home birth. Brandi met with us a few times in our home just simply to get too now us, share some knowledge and encouragement and answer any questions. Once my labor began, Brandi was their with her tools at hand. She used soothing music, essential oils, heating pads, robozo wrap (amazing)... And of course she supported me through each contraction with soothing encouragement and holding my hands. She was a great support and team member for my husband. She gave him tools and techniques to use that allowed him to be an amazing birthing partner. once it came time to pushing, we ended up in the bed room which wasn't in the birthing tub where all of our cameras were to capture the birth of our son that was so important to us. Since at this point my midwife and the assistant were working to help me through pushing and my husband was the coach in my ear, there was not much that BrandI could do. So Brandi didn't just sit aside, she knew how important it was to us to have some sort of photos or video to capture the birth so she grabbed our camera and took tons of beautiful pictures of our son being born! This is not something that is written in our contract. Brandi was always thinking... What else can she do?? all these things combined made BrandI the best decision we could make when going with a home birth. My husband was on the fence about spending the extra money and he even says we woukd do it all over again. It didnt stop there! after the birth, Brandi came by post-partum for a check in and support chat, Delivered my placenta capsules, and still continues to send me texts with information on breast feeding and other support article, and invites me to local meetings that offer support and information on breast feeding and general mommy groups. Choose brandi! You won't regret it.
Going into my second birth I knew I wanted a doula. I wanted someone there who would help keep me calm and confident. After speaking with several doulas, I had yet to find one that seemed to fit. Then I found Brandi, who happened to live only 15 minutes away, and I knew she was someone who would be able to bring the energy and knowledge I wanted to my pregnancy and birth! She came over several times during my pregnancy to spend time with me and my daughter so that my daughter would be comfortable with her (and my daughter absolutely loves her), and made sure she got to know my husband and mother in law as well since they would also be at the birth. She was absolutely crucial to the peace I felt during my second labor, a night and day difference from the panic and tension I felt during my first. She did everything she could to make me feel in control and comfortable, and showed my husband different rebozo techniques and other ways to help me. I felt so empowered and calm, and the fear I felt with my first just wasn't there. I could hardly believe it when they told me I was fully dilated before I felt the pain was even that bad. Having Brandi at my birth was the best choice I've made!
I was going the traditional hospital birth route when I met Brandi. Suddenly everything changed... for the better. I still went the hosital route but I had a plan and I felt like I was back in control of my birth. The information she shared with me saved my daughter from a one way trip to the NICU.
I had Brandi encapsulate my placenta and she did a fantastic job. I am a baby when it comes to pills and she went out of her way to make smaller capsules for me. She also made a beautiful heart shaped keepsake for me out of the umbilical cord. I would recommend Brandi to anyone having a baby, she is so personable and really cares about your opinion. I will be reaching out to Brandi when I'm ready for baby #2.
This was my second child but my first time doing the placenta encapsulation. I didn't know anything about it with my first child as I had a hospital birth they literally just tossed it Out without even asking me if I wanted to do anything with it! This time around Brandi introduced me to the birthing center in which supports natural deliveries and many natural methods. She educated me on the encapsulation process and the benefits of it. From that point I was sold. I wanted to do anything to help me out naturally. I contacted Brandi as soon as I had the baby and she picked up the placenta within hours and started the process of encapsulation. It was a very quick turnaround time and she even included a keepsake umbilical cord that spelled out the word " LOVE" I absolutely loved the care and time she took to ensure that I received the pills and more! She offered me wonderful advice and was very professional. I feel like I can call on her with any concerns or questions and she would be very supportive and helpful. If I have another baby in the future I will most definitely being using her to encapsulate again! I appreciate her so much and would also recommend everyone I know to her.
Where do I begin... I couldn't have made it through natural childbirth without Brandi by my side. Brandi was the calm, positive, supportive, and at times creative force behind my successful birth in June of 2015. She walked with me for hours helping to support my body weight through deep squats in the Florida heat. She help calm me with massage, essential oils, positive affirmations, and a caring ear. Her dedication to me during labor and birth was phenomenal. she never left my side and only when I commented on how hungry or thirsty she must be did she even consider herself. I could write for days and go through my whole birth experience explaining how necessary and positive her presence at my daughters birth was. Not only was she there for me on the day Siena was born she was a constant source of information and support prenataly. When I was 32wks pregnant I went into false labor due to a kidney stone. Without hesitation Brandi was at my side in the hospital with her bag of tricks in hand. She didn't leave my side then until very late at night when I was diagnosed and no longer in labor. I can't thank her enough. To say she was hired help wouldnt justify her service to me and her genuine passion for supporting mothers from prenatal through the postnatal period. Having not only a doula by my side but specifically Brandi was paramount to my successful birth experience and I would never attempt to labor without her. THANK YOU X 1 MILLION Brandi!!!
Without Brandi I don't think I could have had the birthing experience I wanted. She was amazing! During my pregnancy she was available to answer all my questions and also provided words of encouragement when I had any doubts on my ability to do a natural birth. During labor she was right by me, she came with heating pads and even gave me a massage. When I was screaming for an epidural she reminded me of my request to wait 30 minutes if I ended up wanting it. Well 27 minutes later we welcomed a beautiful baby girl earthside! I would definitely recommend having Brandi be your doula!
Im so glad I had Brandi as my doula. I had a successful hbac at 41+6. I had been in prodromal labor for about two weeks, talking to her almost everyday supporting me and reassuring me what was going on was exactly what was supposed to be happening. Always checking up on me. The day I went into labor I had no idea, I was almost ready to give up and she came over because she felt I needed her. And she was so right! 3 hours later she caught my baby in the water! She held my hand through every contraction. I remember saying "I don't want to so this, I can't" and everytime she would tell me "you're already doing it. You're doing so great!" She was such great support to my whole family. It's been 5 weeks and my 3.5 year old still talks about her. It was so such a great familiar experience. If you're lucky enough to have her you will love her!
