My job is to help ensure that you and your birth partner have the most satisfying birth experience possible. I am equipped to provide you with the emotional, physical, and informational support you need in order to confidently make informed decisions regarding your baby’s birth. I will meet with you and your birth partner (if you have one) before the birth so that we can get to know each other, explore and discuss your birth priorities, review/create your birth plan, and strategize about how we can best work together as a team. I will provide reassurance and perspective to you and your partner, make suggestions for labor progress, and help with relaxation, positioning, and comfort measures. After your baby is born, I will remain with you until you are ready for some quiet time together as a family, and then will visit with you again twice to see how you and baby are doing and to review your birth story.

Leah - angel sent from heaven! Husband & I were very fortunate to have stumbled across her. During the interview, she was non-judgmental (others were pushy & into our personals) filled with passion, ready to help us for our pregnancy @37wks! We were treated like humans, not a number or a paycheck. Leah help craft our birth plan & it went accordingly. She was amazing at including my husband during the whole process till after birth. She always resolved our concerns with medical/research articles. She gave us visuals & constant reminders (mommy brain). She is very open-minded & respectful of our post-partum practices due to cultural differences; we ended up learning from each other. Leah became more than a doula to us when she entered our lives, she provided us w/ resources in our community, & reassured our roles as nervous parents. We still cannot believe how smoothly things went for our pregnancy/birth & post-partum. I was worried I would be induced, Leah recommended a few tricks, my baby came right on her due date! My birth experience was exceptional – WITHOUT epidural! Despite of back labor. Leah was calm, prepared & professional w/nurses & doctors. She made my birth felt like a journey into parenthood rather than just an act. She never whined/showed any discomfort & graciously allowed me to squeeze her warm hands instead of my husband's and managed to make sure he isn’t left out. She created a very serene environment, and guided me through contractions and pushes, showed how amazing our bodies are. She is hands down an exceptional doula that provided a very memorable, rewarding experience as we embarked into parenthood. Leah is VERY passionate about being a doula, and it shows in our journey. We are truly grateful for Leah in our lives. We both could not wait to work with Leah again. We would move to wherever she is at for our next baby! That’s how amazing she is!
I am so happy that I chose Leah to be my Doula. She helped me have a amazing labor and delievery experience and I feel like she was key in my ability to do my best job as a laboring mommy. She is certainly in the right profession. I could use many words to describe my birth experience with Leah but I think the one that stands out the most is Peaceful. My mother described Leah's arrive to my labor as "A peaceful refreshing breeze" and it is absolutely true. When Leah arrived she was quiet and soothing and brought peace with her. It was very tangible and needed peace and I felt so relieved to have her there. This was my first baby and I wasn't planning to have a hospital birth so Leah's reassurance and encouragement was just what I needed to keep me focused and to help me progress throug each stage of labor.
Leah was very well prepared, she brought essential oils to help me with my nausia, a stress ball that I could squeeze to help me focus and release into my birthing sensations and had lots of practical and useful sugguestions to help me keep my labor going. Leah was also very helpful to my Husband and my mother, allowing them to have periods of rest and giving them encouragment and sugguestions and well.
Leah was also very helpful when it came to interacting with the nurses, she was very aware of appropriate boundaries and did well at helping me communicate my needs when that was difficult for me to do so and helping me to make informed desicions.
After my delivery Leah stayed with me a while to make sure that my baby and I were doing well and her follow up after my birth was wonderful, she helped me to record my birth story which was very important to my mental and emotional recovery after my birth experience.
I really wish I had more that 2000 characters to discribe Leah and explain in detail all the ways she was an amazing helper and wonderful encourager. She would be an excellent choice for a Doula!
I knew I wanted a Doula to help support the birth process, however my husband was concerned that a Doula would take away his role. That was not the case all! Leah met with us twice before the birth of our son. These meetings were to talk through our birth plan, our hopes, fears, and expectations. Leah provided us with solid information, asked great questions and offered suggestions for the birth process.
My labor was induced due to Gestational Diabetes. With the support of Leah and my husband I labored to 10cm and pushed for an hour and a half. At this point my blood sugar level dropped and I had no more energy to push. I opted for an epidural and Leah helped advocate that I be provided with an IV of sugar water. With the sugar water, rest and the epidural I was able to resume pushing. Leah then supported 2 more hours of directed pushing.
At no point during the birth did my husband feel that his role was taken over. If anything he was free to support me while Leah helped keep my nausea at bay and kept me hydrated. Leah was also able to offer different positions to labor in. My husband could even leave the room to use the restroom and knew I was in good hands.
At one point during the labor process, my pain levels peaked as I was waiting on the epidural. My husband panicked because he had never seen me in so much pain and did not know what to do or how to fix it. Leah did not panic, she stayed calm and calmed me. My husband was able to follow her lead.
Leah has a wonderful disposition which is perfect in the labor room. Leah is positive, encouraging, and calming. Leah will support your birth plan and help you have a great experience.
I did not have my perfect birth experience. I didn't want to be induced and I didn't want drugs. However, I had a positive and wonderful birth experience. I am thankful for Leah's role and support in that experience.
My husband and I cannot recommend Leah enough! Throughout our lengthy induction Leah provided emotional and physical support and a level head when things got stressful. She had near endless suggestions of labor and birth positions, massage techniques, and encouraging words to help us cope with a tough and long labor. She did a great job keeping both me and my husband calm and positive during a very tough labor and birth. Our induction was nearly a week long and Leah did a great job communicating with our other doula and making sure my husband and I had support throughout the entire process. Leah was professional, very kind, helpful, knowledgeable, and beyond supportive of our birth plan and personal choices concerning our labor and birth process. I cannot imagine going through the process without her and plan to contact her again for the births of all my future children. I highly recommend Leah!
