When we first started out on our research for the labor and delivery process we were looking for- hiring a doula was one of the things that we were interested in doing.  We had taken some really awesome natural labor and delivery classes, but even in those classes, talking about doulas and their roles in the labor and delivery was talked about on a regular basis.  We were really interested in a doula becuase it was my goal to do the birth as natural as possible and no medications or interventions or inductions.  We met with 2 different doula's and we decided that we wanted to work with Katherine and that was probably the best decision we could have made.  Katherine was very knowledgeable about so many things and has had great recommendations or referrals for us to use even after our baby was born.  Katherine was "on call" for us at the 38 week mark and checked in with me that day.  We had changed OB's because of some of the things that had happened and what we were trying to achieve, and even after switching, we started running into a few obstacles or what i was worried would be obstacles.  katherine was a great resource to talk too and voice my concerns too throughout the process up until I had the baby.  Our delivery was quite eventful, and unexpected, and VERY fast.  Much faster than what my husband, myself or Katherine were really expecting but having Katherie with us was a huge help.  From just being an extra person with us the day of the delivery, to her follow up appointments, to checking in on me via text, to brining us some donor breast milk she had found, having great referrals for some of my post partum needs- she really was the best decision we made for our delivery experience.  I can't say enough good things about Katherine and we were all so thankful we found her.  We would most definitely recommend her- best thing we did to help our birth experience go the way we wanted it too!!

My husband and I were so glad to have Katherine attend our birth. From the beginning she was incredibly supportive and helped us navigate the entire process. She helped us prepare and made sure that she understood what we were aiming for and did everything she could to support our choices. She had experience at our hospital so we knew exactly what to expect. During labor she was just what my husband needed. She kept him focused on supporting me while she handled all the details. She was great at suggesting things to do to help me get through labor. The birth went perfectly and we couldn't have asked for a better doula! We already let Katherine know that we'll be giving her a call when it's time for number two!

My husband and I feel very lucky to have met Katherine and to have had her as our doula! From the moment we met, she went above and beyond, providing us with endless support throughout the last few weeks of my pregnancy. Katherine not only listened to what we wanted from our birth experience, she brought to our attention options and questions we hadn’t considered. When we eventually found out that our son was breech and we would most likely need to have a planned cesarean birth, Katherine did everything she could to help us try and turn him (from acupressure and moxibustion sessions to setting up a 10 day pool membership for me so that I could do handstands). When he wouldn’t turn and we settled into the idea of a cesarean birth, she was armed with information to help us make the experience as much like the natural birth we wanted. Her peppermint oil was the best antidote to my nausea during surgery! Katherine has continued to provide support even after the birth. She has met with us multiple times postpartum and helped with nursing, our transition home, and my transition back to work. I cannot say enough good things about how wonderful our experience was and continues to be with Katherine! I know that the birth of our son was made exponentially better because of Katherine.
