Being new to the area and expecting our first child, my husband and I were not sure what to expect when it came to the whole birthing process. After much discussion, we decided to hire a doula to help make this transition a bit smoother. We found Kelley's name fairly late into the pregnancy, but she was very willing to work with us and accommodate our needs. She was able to meet with us for a prenatal consultation to go over questions we had and reassure us in any concerns we had. My active labor ended up being pretty quick and intense, but Kelley was there to comfort me and my husband and guided me during the pushing part to make sure I remained focused. Kelley's dedication and calming demeanor were helpful to us during the adventurous experience of becoming parents.
Kelley is fantastic! She supported me for the birth of my second child in October 2016 and i wish she had been there for our first. My first pregnancy resulted in an unplanned cesarian for lack of progress. i've had lingering questions around if surgery could have been avoided had we been more informed about our options. This time around my goal was for a VBAC while holding off, but open to, pain relief options.
We got in touch with Kelley very late in the game- we met her on Tuesday and I gave birth on Saturday. We clicked easily from the start. With a doula I really wanted someone who would be there to help explain any thing going on in the hospital during labor, support me through each contraction and just be our advocate for the whole experience. Kelley did all those things and more. She helped coach me through a day and a half of early labor before we went to the hospital and met us as soon as we got there.
Labor progressed really quickly and I'm so glad that we had Kelley at my side. She was a steady voice through the whole experience including 2+ hours of pushing. As i was ready to give up, she was there to offer encouragements. Afterwards, Kelley provided some really fantastic photos of our first few moments with our new baby and gave us her perspective on the whole experience. These are all memories that i will cherish.
I would recommend Kelley and her services to any first time or repeat parent in a second.
Kelley was so great leading up to, during, and even after the birth of our first born baby! As first time parents, we had no idea what to expect and we were feeling a little lost. It was so nice having Kelley there to help us with any questions or issues that came up. She was very orgainized and we loved how passionate she was about the entire birthing process. For us, the best thing was that she coached my husband on what to do from when I went into labor and through the birth of our baby girl. It was also such a relief having her there to work with the nurses to ensure our bith plan was honored. We had to go to the hospital on 2 separate occasions (since I wasn't progressing the first time) and she met us there right away both times. Kelley even came to our house after our baby was born to teach me how to use my breast pump! She also provided tons of great resources for mom groups, baby sites, and co-ops.
I would definitely recommend Kelley to anyone looking for a Doula!
Kelley was there to assist me with delivering a surrogate baby. It was a great experience. She was not only very attentive to my needs, but she was supportive to my husband and mom as well as the intended parents. She reassured and cumforted us all when things got intense. Kelley noticed what I needed and was acting on those needs without me having to ask for a thing. I especially like how she very sensitivley guided my husband to be my main support person. She helped him to be aware of when I needed him and guided us on pain relief techniques.
Kelley went above and beyond expectations and help to get me connected with someone that could do placenta encapsulation. Kelley also spent time with the baby's parents checking in with them and connecting them to resources that could help them while they were here and adjusting to a new baby!
We look forward to having Kelley assist with the delivery of the next surro baby!
I recently gave birth to a healthy girl and could not have been happier with my choice to use a doula. Specifically Kelley was awesome. She really cares a lot about the birth process and always willing to listen and answer any questions you have. Kelley was very supportive and not afraid to do whatever I needed during my labor. I think within five minutes of arriving at the hospital she was soaked with water while assisting me in the shower. Kelley massaged me for like three hours straight with no brake. I'm not sure how she did it but so grateful. She really made my labor experience a success.
Kelley was such an essential part of our birth experience, and we believe she contributed greatly to our positive outcome. We were very unsure, at first, about whether or not to hire a doula. It was our first birth experience, and we idealistically were thinking we wanted it to be just the two of us in the room for the delivery. The closer it got to delivery, the more we realized it was going to be too much for Nick to handle, trying to support me AND remember and assert our birth preferences with the staff at the hospital. So, we decided to hire Dalia one week before our "due" date! We are SO glad we made that decision! First of all, Kelley helped us over Skype (she was our virtual doula) she also helped us to know when it was time to go to the hospital. We didn't want to get there too early. If she would not have told us, we would have been there way too early, which could have resulted in a much different experience. We got to the hospital when I was 2 cm, my water had broke and I was put on a 24 hour time clock. Throughout labor and delivery, Kelley was an amazing resource of ideas for how Nick could support me, help me relax, and focus on what I needed to do. With 5 hours to go I stopped dialating, we worked on different things and within 2 hours I went from 3 cm to 6 cm. We had beat the clock thanks to her. She was very comforting, calming, and reassuring. She reminded me of all the things I learned how to focus, breathe, and position my body. It would have been impossible to remember those things on my own while I was in labor! Even the hospital staff respected her even virtual, she would speak to them kindly making sure our preferences were respected, but not being awkwardly "pushy. " I also had unique problems with breastfeeding, and Kelley was so supportive and encouraging. If given the opportunity again, we would both hire Kelley without any hesitation
I could not have had a more perfect birth experience without Kelley. She is a wonderful person and I consider her a part of my family. She was by my side every step of the labor process and was a wonderful advocate for my husband and myself with the hospital staff. Kelley kept me calm and gently instructed my husband on how to best physically, and emotionally, support me. There were several times during my labor experience when I thought that I could not continue with my unmedicated birth plan, but Kelley helped give me the strength and encouragement to continue. My husband and I were so grateful to have her there. The information she provided us was invaluable during the birth process and considerably reduced our anxiety. Kelley has also been a great support and wealth of information post partum. I have turned to her on multiple occasions for advice about breastfeeding and infant care. I could not give a higher recommendation of her as a Doula and I feel honored to call her my friend. In my eyes, no other Doula could be more amazing.
