I highly recommend Derrica's services as a doula.  As a first time mother, she was very patient with all my various questions and talk me through my concerns as well.  She helped me to strategically plan for the natural hospital birth I desired.  Ultimately I ended up having a unplanned induction for health reasons.  She was there through the entire labor process, still advocating for the natural birth I desired.  After 5 hours of laboring on Pitocin without pain medication and not making any progress, I decided to have an epidural to allow me to relax.  I didn't feel any judgement from Derrica for this change in my birth plan, she continued to support me in the ways that I needed at the moment.  I greatly appreciate the support she gave to my husband and me during the labor process.  It was nice to have a "neutral" party present, someone who knew about the birth process and was not going to be emotionally distressed by my pain, etc.  I think that the ultimate compliment is that at my post partum appointment with my OB, he asked Derrica's name and commented on what a great doula she was.  He noticed exactly what I loved best about Derrica, that she was supportive and helpful but did not push her own aggenda.  Her goal is to help the mother through birth, however that process ends up looking. Thanks in part to Derrica, we had a relatively pleasant birth experience (given the circumstances) and are now enjoying life with our baby girl.

Derrica is awesome! Since we were delivering at the birth center, we hired her as our post partum doula with the option to call her if we were transferred to the hospital. When labor started hard and fast at 2:30 am the day my son was born, it was Derrica's text message reminding me to take big deep breaths that gave me the calm to make it through. After delivering at the birth center, having Derrica at home with us for a few hours a day was so wonderful! I now recommend post-partum doula care to everyone I know who is expecting. Her calm, knowledgeable presence during those early weeks of newborn care were invaluable to us!

Derrica was a blessing! She spent time before the birth with me and my husband, answered all our questions, and shared lots of good suggestions and reading material. She was laid back and honest throughout. She quickly answered the phone when I went into labor early for my due date and early in the morning, and was just as prompt meeting us at the hospital. She worked smoothly with all staff and family. She spent hours by my side switching with my husband to help provide back pressure during contractions. She consistently reminded me of my focus when I got off track. She provided friendly, professional, and all around awesome services. She even made a trip postpartum to help with breastfeeding.

I highly recommend Derrica. If we ever have another child, she's the first must-have on our list!

Derrica was an incredible doula. She was always available to me, answered all my questions, and checked in on me during my three weeks of contractions! When I called her after my water broke she was here very quickly and helped me during my ride to the birth center. She was by my side throughout my whole delivery, fed me food and juice afterwards, and brought me my meal of choice later on (sushi)!

She is a very supportive doula and I would and have recommended her to other mothers.

Derrica was amazing. I felt very comfortable with her the moment we met. I always felt she was listening without judgement of my birthing and pre and postnatal decisions. Her sense of humor, knowledge of birth and professionalism made it easier to cope mentally with my complications during my second pregnancy. Additionally, I would highly recommend her post partum services. I was able to focus on myself and newborn while she took care of laundry, housework, cooking and my toddler!

I have learned not to minimize the mental and physical effects women experience before, during and after birth. Doulas are a gift every women needs and deserves in a fast pace culture and medical field. We women need all the help we can get. So be kind to yourselves and call Derrica today!

Derrica was our doula for the birth of our first baby. We couldn't have found a better person to guide and help us through the most challenging, wonderful and emotional time in our lives. We wanted a natural, drug free and peaceful birth at the Birth Center in Rogers but we had to go to the hospital due to a very long labor with no progress. Derrica was our biggest advocate and supported every hard decision we had to make. She was by our side every step of the way. Our new family of three has an amazing connection with Derrica and she is not only a wonderful doula but now a great friend.

We also had Derrica encapsulate my placenta. I could not be more pleased with how it turned out. My postpartum recovery has been very easy and healing has been quick. My milk came in on day three and my supply is abundant. I have not had any baby blues so far and my energy levels are great! I know the placenta has helped so much!

We hope to use Derrica for all of our births to come!

Hiring Derrica to be our doula was the best decision we made in preparation for our baby's arrival. I met Derrica pretty late in the game (34 weeks) but she was very easy to work with and provided TONS of resources and support in the last few weeks of pregnancy. Derrica took the time to learn about our family and my goals for labor and delivery. My labor experience took a few turns from my original all-natural birth plan, however, Derrica was incredibly helpful in guiding me to make the most informed decisions during each phase of delivery. She helped me feel empowered and strong through all 32 hours of labor, providing gentle reminders about relaxation techniques and offering suggestions for my husband to support me during delivery. I can't say enough about how helpful it was to have Derrica as a birth partner during pregnancy, labor and post-partum! Our entire family feels more supported and even closer because of the birth experience. I highly recommend Derrica to anyone considering working with a doula.

This was my first time using Derrica's services and as long as Im in Arkansas it won't be my last. Her prompt response and ability to fit me in to do my placenta encapsulation made me feel so comfortable. She arrived on time looking radiant despite the rain outside with her supplies in tow in a red raincoat. Her energy was so warm and genuine. She explained everything she was to do over the next 2 days as if it were her first time. The way she handled my placenta with so much care and respect gave me a new appreciation for her craft.

This was my second pregnancy and with my first I did not do placenta encapsulation. I noticed the difference almost immediately after beginning my daily dose. My milk came exactly on the 3rd day after giving birth. I felt more energized and less worn out than I did with my first. I had a faster delivery this time so I thought it was due to that and I stopped taking the pills after 3 weeks. No sooner than I did that did I start to experience mood swings and what I think was a mild bout of post pardum depression. My husband was the one who pointed out the change in me and reminded me about the pills. Within 3 days of taking the pills again I felt much better.

I cannot say enough about Derrica and the value of what she provided to me during this beautiful time. I'm 2.5 months post pardum and I still have a steady milk supply, my hormones are as regulated as they can be, and I take the pills as needed. Please take advantage of this valuable service with Derrica, you will not regret it.

We worked with Derrica for the birth of our first child. I planned to have a natural midwife-assisted homebirth, and Derrica not only had a close working relationship with our midwife, but she had been through homebirth herself. In the months leading up to the big day, Derrica and I became quite close, and I trusted her thoroughly to help me through one of the most important moments of my life. I also hired her to take pictures at my Blessing Ceremony and birth, as well as encapsulate my placenta.

My birth didn't turn out as planned. Labor went on for several days, with many unexpected bumps along the way. While I labored at home, she, my midiwfe, and my husband continuously massaged me and talked me through the contractions. After 24 hours and some complications, we decided to take me to the hospital. I ended up getting unplanned interventions, which was very different from what I had envisioned. Throughout the entire process Derrica was extremely supportive and invested in my mental and physical well-being. She managed to walk a perfect balance of helping me stick to my birth plan where possible and helping me be flexible when necessary.

We would highly recommend Derrica as a birth doula. Her passion, calming force, and expertise were invaluable to us during the birth process. And the pictures turned out beautifully!

Derrica was wonderful to work with.  She was a doula for me and my family at the (home) birth of our second son and I think her presence was very helpful.  It was a quick birth so I didn't get to experienc the full range of her in-labor helpful capabilities, but what she did for me in those few hours (plus after the birth) was immensely helpful.  Looking back, I would say the best thing about Derrica—besides her professional manner, deep knowledge about birth and labor, and completely sweet and helpful nature—was her soothing voice.  She really helped me stay with it during contractions, stay focused on my breath, and stay calm, riding each wave until it subsided.  She was very present and it helped me to be so, too, even when part of me wanted to go crazy.  She kept me grounded and focused, and I'm so deeply grateful for that.  I didn't have a doula at my first birth, and now I wish I had!

Derrica is an amazing doula.  She is playfully wise, compassionate and supportive concerning birthplans and environmentally aware of a laboring mother's needs.  I had a VBAC and I was so lucky to have her support and care during an intensely emotional birth.  She ensured my comfort and total well-being for the entirety of my pregnancy, labor, and delivery.  Derrica was one of my three precious advocates during my labor, filling my heart with strength when I thought I could not make through one more contraction.   Having a doula like Derrica completely changed my perspective on the birthing culture in America-if every woman had an educated birthing partner such as Derrica, I believe even more women would have a beautiful birthing experience.  I am so grateful she is forever part of my son's journey from womb to world.
