As a new mom, I really didn't know what to expect when it came to hiring a doula. All I knew is that I wanted to work with someone who was caring, reliable, relatable and authentic. I ended up hiring Shana toward the very end of my pregnancy. However, it didn't feel that way. It felt like we'd been building our connection for months! She stepped right in and provided me with a sense of comfort, wisdom, and awareness that I knew was the right match for our family's needs. Shana is much more than a doula. She's someone who is able to tune in to every situation as well as her own intuition.

My birth experience took off rather suddently and there wasn't much time for pleasantries. Shana literally left her home in the middle of the night after helping me assess the situation at the hospital. She knew exactly when to be there and timed everything perfectly. She stayed by my side the whole time while supporting my husband and making sure he felt confident in his role as a supportive husband and soon-to-be dad. Even the doctors and the nurses loved her! One nurse in particular couldn't get over how seemlessly Shana worked with the staff and relayed information to be in such a caring, processional way.

Even after I gave birth to a healthy baby boy, Shana was right there offering support and her post-partum visit. She even crochet a beautiful little hat for our son. It's too soon to tell, but I almost want to give birth again just to work with Shana. She will forever be a welcome part of our family and one of the miraculous reasons everything went remarkably well during the birth of our beloved son!

Shana was a wonderfully supportive, encouraing, and generally attuned doula. Her warmth in caring for my needs and worries about labor and delivery along with her concrete knowledge about the ins and outs of labor and delivery combined to help me feel calm and supported in the weeks leading up to my birth and in the birth itself. Having had meetings and conversations with Shana before giving birth gave me a sense of confidence that when things went “off birth plan”. I had a wonderful birth and I attribute a lot of the good feelings about that success to having been supported by Shana in the last months of my pregnancy. Thank you, Shana!

We worked with Shana for my daughter’s birth in the summer of 2018. Shana was incredibly helpful throughout our journey to parenthood and we strongly recommend her to prospective parents.
During our meetings with Shana before and after delivery, Shana provided emotional support, practical guidance, and patiently answered all of our questions. She was extremely respectful of our preferences and put us at ease.
During the delivery, Shana provided an invaluable sense calm and relaxation as well as advocated fiercely on our behalf with hospital personnel. In order to manage pain and promote natural labor, Shana worked tirelessly and expertly with us on different labor positions and pain management techniques. She played a critical role in our successful vaginal delivery! We are very grateful to her.

My husband and I were on the fence about hiring a doula for the birth of our first child but ultimately decided that it could only help, not hurt. I am eternally grateful to Shana for her support over the course of what was to be a 40 hour labor. Shana and I had worked out a list of birth intentions prior to the birth, but when exhaustion caused me to abandon several of them she was equally reassuring and validating with no hint of judgement. When I grew too tired to coherently express my wishes to family and medical personnel, she patiently talked to me between contractions, sometimes having to resort to a 20 questions tactic, until she was certain she understood what I wanted. She then communicated these wishes to the people around me, all the while making sure I was hydrated and in as little discomfort as possible. She went above and beyond, working with nurses to devise birthing tools out of what little supplies were in the room (a snowstorm the day before had depleted many of the supply closets) - all in order to make me even marginally more comfortable. Knowing she was right next to the bed through the long hours set my mind at ease and allowed my husband to be a nervous wreck elsewhere. In the end, I had my son vaginally with very little medical interventions, aside from pain relief, and I wouldn't trade my birth experience for anything.

Shana was invaluable in my birth experience. It was my second and I really wanted to achieve an unmeducated birth. circumstances led me to have slim belief that I would-moving to a new state in ny 9tg month, new ob who seemed annoyed at my asking, and a hospital that is reviewed to err on the safe side.

Shana was very encouraging and thorough in bringing out my fears and openly discussing it together with my husband. She was reassuring, easy going, and confident that we can have an unmedicated birth despite all. At the birth, she was reliable, knowledgeable of the different techniques to manage pain and felt solid While I was going through it. She also knew how to positively engage my husband. we both had a bondibg experience that we can only get to experience during birth.

In short, she's the real deal- choose her for your birth:)

I cannot rave about Shana enough for her guidance and support before, during, and after my son's birth. She is one of the most patient and compassionate individuals I have ever come across. My mother was a doula for several years so I felt like it would be good to have a support system that wasn't just my husband getting me through an emotional and exhausting labor and delivery. I was weary though of hiring a stranger to be there during the birth. I was scared of the "what ifs". My husband was very skeptical about having a doula with us as well. Boy did Shana prove him wrong and keep my mind at ease! Having Shana as our doula was the best decision ever. She took time out of her day to meet with us and consult with us to ease our minds before hiring her. I think I had a millon questions for her and she was diligent about answering everything. Now let me skip ahead to the birth- I went into labor four weeks early. She went right to the hospital and helped us stick to our birth plan (which she was so detailed about when we met with her prior to giving birth). I was not against an epidural, but my wishes for her and my husband were to delay me from getting one for as long as possible. She did just that. She encouraged me to labor in the shower, she assisted me and encouraged me to labor in different positions, and she helped my husband from caving and asking for the epidural for me when she knew I wanted to delay it. Needless to say, I never got the epidural and I really credit her for that and for helping me stick to my birth plan. She also was a fantastic photographer for us and we have so many memories captured thanks to her.  Shana will always be a special part of my son's life because of her involvement in his birth. My husband and I highly recommend her and hope to use her again in the future.

Shana was a wonderful support when I gave birth. What I loved most was her calm, positive attitude.  She suggested a variety of ways for me to move and make me more comfortable, she was very knowledgeable, and made sure I was keeping hydrated throughout.  She also supported and involved my husband and other family through the labor.  While I ended up having an emergency c-section she was with me through recovery. I would absolutely recommend Shana to others.

Hiring Shana as my doula was the wisest decision I made during my pregnancy. As a first-time mother at the age of 40, I had confidence in my body to deliver a healthy baby but felt frustrated by the amount of concern shown by my OB/GYN, whose procedures tended to place me in the category of high-risk due to my age, rather than my overall health. As soon as my partner and I met Shana I felt significantly more confident about my pregnancy and delivery, and retained that feeling of empowerment throughout the birth. Shana radiates calm, strength, and wisdom. She had numerous helpful ideas to offer in the months leading up to the delivery, and the prenatal visit she made to our home provided extensive information in pain management techniques, as well as helped us to refine our birth plan. During labor, I opted for an epidural which, despite not being part of my birth plan, was the right decision for me. Shana was completely supportive of me and my decisions throughout. She was unfailingly helpful in all ways during the rest of labor and delivery, including assisting me and my partner, communicating with the hospital staff, and her active involvement in the delivery and afterward. The atmosphere in the room remained relaxed and enjoyable, and I had all the help I needed to achieve a speedy and smooth delivery. Shana has my highest recommendation. I would wish anyone the pleasure of working with her.

Shana has been amazing in pregnancy thru postpartum. During my twin pregnancy, she helped me plan my births and also assisted me with pregnancy issues. As a twin mom, Shana was additionally able to provide a realistic picture of life with twin babies and children. It was calming to be able to go to my births, knowing what life would be with twins and knowing that we would be a successful and happy twins family. During my long and difficult labor, Shana knew exactly what to do all of the time. In the beginning while we were walking, she had me laughing between contractions. As labor progressed, she expertly advised coping methods. She was always full of encouragement. She took charge of keeping me hydrated from beginning to end. Shana's great personality allowed her to have positive relationships with the nurses, thus allowing for a pleasant labor environment. Because of Shana's talented assistance, i never once felt overwhelmed by my labor. Throughout my challenging postpartum, Shana has always been thete for me with ideas and advice. I have so much appreciated her continued help. Shana's overall parenting experience as well as her twin parenting experience has allowed her to acquire great wisdom - some of which she thankfully has shared with me. If we are blessed with another pregnancy, i hope to have Shana by my side again during labor and birth.

Shana is an absolutely wonderful doula. From the beginning, I felt comfortable talking with Shana about my pregnancy and how things were progressing and what my plan was for my birth. Shana offered me her support and confidence the entire time. Throughout my labor and delivery, Shana was a calming and reassuring presence. Shana honored and respected my wishes and just took my lead when I asked for certain things, whether it was counter pressure on my hips or a sip of water. Shana also offered helpful suggestions for optimal positions for pain relief. She cheered me on and encouraged me every step of the way. Shana was there to support me both physically and emotionally throughout my labor and delivery, as well as postpartum. I am so happy that Shana was able to be my doula and to be a part of my birth experience and it was a pleasure working with her.

I was privileged to have Shana attend the birth of my first son. My husband and I decided to have a home birth and Shana was a huge reason why it went so smoothly. Before the birth, Shana was always avaiable to answer questions and she came to our home several times to meet with us and help us prepare for the birth. The night of the birth Shana was incredibly patient and supportive - both physically and mentally. Shana's calming words helped me get through the toughest moments of labor. She is warm, considerate and personable and both my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed working with her. We will absolutely call her again when we have another baby. Thank you Shana for all your help!

We had a very long labor and couldn't have labored naturally for so long without Shana's physical and emotional support.  She is also a wealth of information and quick to reassure.  My husband and I appreciated Shana's dedication to the task at hand. Shana made both of us feel more at ease throughout the labor and delivery at home and then in the hospital.  I highly recommend her for anyone's birth team.

I am so priviledged to have had Shana with me at my latest birth. Not only was she a phenomenol physical and emotional support during labor, but she was always at the ready to answer my questions, always reassuring and helpful from the moment I first made contact with her.

I went into this labor feeling much more empowered than I had ever felt. I also felt secure, knowing that I would have Shana at my side to make it as comfortable as possible.

While sitting in the delivery room on the birthing ball, with Shana behind me massagine and applying pressure to just the right areas throughout my contractions, I couldn't help but realize how blessed and thankful we are that we made the right decision to hire Shana. I could not imagine laboring without her there!

Having Shana at your side during, before, and after labor is one of the best things you can do for yourself!

Shana has the knowledge, the skills, the compassion, and the passion to be a great labor support doula and we were fortunate to have had her be a part of our birth experience.
