I would hire Megan again in a heartbeat. She met with us twice, well, three times if you include when I first met with her. She was kind, caring, open to anything we wanted and readily available for any questions or concerns we had. She met us at the hospital and stayed up the entire night while i nodded in and out of sleep. Always ready to get up to get me some ice chips or whatever I needed. Her touch was calming throughout labor, pre-epidural, and she suggested ways to help me cope with the contractions. She made the room quiet and pleasant with her candles and essential oils. She was amazing and if we have another I know who I'm calling :-)
Megan provided great care and attention during my labor. She created the calm environment I envisioned. Her massage techniques helped me manage contractions and she knew exactly which positions I should be in at the appropriate times to help labor progress and to ease the pain. We were so lucky to have found Megan and to have her be present with us during our daughters birth!
We decided to look for a doula when I was about 6 mos pregnant and starting to feel anxious about not having time to prepare for the labor and delivery of our first child. Our families live in CA and it was unknown if my mom would make it in time for the delivery. We wanted someone in the room that had experienced a birth and would be able to support us. My husband was initally hesistant because he wanted to be my primary support but as soon was we met Megan, we knew it would be good for both of us to have a doula! Megan has such a calming demeanor and provided us with information while never over-stepping or pushing her own beliefs. We really appreciated the early sessions to review pain management techniques and have the opportunity to practice. While we were only at the hospital for 2 hours before our son's birth, we spoke with Megan on the phone a few times before we headed to the hospital and she was very calm and reassuring that things were progressing well. She met us at the hospital lobby and immediately started putting pressure on my back which I remember being very helpful! My mom was also able to make it to the hospital but I never felt like there were too many people. Megan found a way to be helpful by putting cool cloths on my head during the pushing and helped keep the mood light. Afterwards, she made sure I had food and was feeling comfortable before she left the hospital. My mom and the hospital staff commented on how great Megan was! During the early post-partum, had some struggles with nursing and Megan was very supportive. She encouraged me to do what I felt was right when I was bombared by different opinions and suggestions from various professionals. We were so happy to have found Megan!
I can’t imagine how we would have managed the birth of our second child without Megan. After experiencing a long, difficult labor for our first birth, I knew that I wanted to have a doula for our second birth to provide extra support but I had no idea just how transformative Megan’s presence would be. During our pregnancy, Megan provided terrific informational resources and she helped us to prepare mentally and emotionally to welcome our second child. We experienced a few difficulties during our pregnancy and Megan was always available to help us understand our options. I particularly appreciated how Megan helped me prepare emotionally for the possibility that I might not experience my ideal labor (again.) During labor, Megan really set the mood in the birth room, bringing along music, aromatherapy, flameless candles, and her warm soothing presence. I was surprised by what a big difference these things made. Everyone who walked into our room commented on how wonderful everything smelled and how calming the atmosphere was. Particularly in the hospital, this atmosphere really seemed to influence how the staff treated us. Everyone seemed to slow down, stay calm and pay a bit more attention. It made a huge difference. Megan’s support to my husband was also crucial. She made sure that he stayed rested and fed so that he could be there for me 100% when I needed him. Megan’s physical dedication to getting us through this labor was really tremendous. I had back labor and needed very strong counter pressure for many hours. It mush have been exhausting, but Megan and my husband provided all the counter pressure I needed to get me through labor on Pitocin without an epidural. I never thought I could manage a labor like that, but Megan did, and I am truly grateful. While it didn’t go as planned, with Megan’s help we really did have a beautiful, empowering experience, and it brings me great joy to look back on that day.
Megan was absolutely wonderful. From our first meeting through the birth of our daughter she made it feel as though we had an expert in our corner at all times. I couldn't imagine going through the process without her. I can' say enough good things about our experience.
Megan was so very helpful during my experience. I had a very long labor and she kept me, my husband, and everyone calm. The mood of the room was relaxing and the lighting was dim and warm. The oils she diffused made a huge difference. Having a calm setting makes a big difference when you in a lot of pain. She had so many tips and tricks to help ease the pain. Megan made the whole experience more relaxed. It was great to have another support person for both my husband and I. I would highly recommend her!
Megan is a literal lifesaver! My baby and I had a risky and traumatic delivery. Without her encouragement and advocacy I'm not certain our doctors and nurses would have taken the necessary steps to keep us safe. She kept me and my husband calm throughout the delivery. During the pregnancy she kept me informed and patiently provided information about all our options for our birth plan and ways to stay comfortable during the preceding months. She was completely honest with me, her first hand experience as a doula was always very evident in her approach, and by the end of the process she felt like part of our little family. So grateful to have had her with us!
During my search for a doula, Megan was the first person that I called. I had intended on chatting with at least a few to find the right fit for my husband and I, but after a few minutes of talking with Megan, I knew she was everything we were looking for. She was knowledgeable, calm, and extremely supportive. As my due date approached, I became apprehensive about what labor and delivery would hold for me. After meeting Megan in person for our prenatal visit, I felt nothing but excitment about having my baby. I had the utmost confidence in Megan and my husband was also equally impressed. As my due date neared and passed, I became anxious, impatient, and was feeling a bit uncomfortable. Megan was extremely supportive and encouraging and being in touch with her helped me put things into perspective. Megan even came to my home for an accupressure session, which was extremely generous of her and something I appreciated beyond words. When I (finally) went into labor, Megan came to the hospital as soon as my midwife determined that it was the "real thing". My labor progressed quickly, but I took comfort in knowing that I would have Megan's support. When she arrived, I instantly relaxed- her calming presence and encouraging words were extremely helpful. After my son was born, Megan took photos that my husband and I will cherish forever. We are so grateful that Megan was willing to capture these special moments for us.
Megan was wonderful in every way and I would very highly recommend Megan to anyone looking for a doula.
My husband deployed to Iraq in the 14th week of my first pregnancy, and it was unknown whether he'd make it home in time for our baby's birth. Megan graciously offered to donate her services to us and I knew from our very first meeting that I wanted her to be a part of our birthing experience. In the months leading up to our birth, Megan made herself readily available for questions and concerns and was extremely flexible in scheduling/rescheduling meetings. She provided us with evidence-based information to help us make our best decisions about labor and delivery. With Megan's support, we had the exact birthing experience we had envisioned. Megan exudes a gentle, peaceful, and caring energy that perfectly complemented my labor and delivery. She is nurturing without being intrusive, offers guidance without judgment, and anticipates your needs in labor before you are even aware you're needing. I felt safe and looked after throughout the entire labor and delivery because Megan was by my side the entire time. My husband did make it home (only one week prior to our baby's birth!), and Megan was an amazing support to him as well. He was able to partner with me more effectively and confidently given Megan's presence. We will forever be grateful to Megan for giving us peace of mind and comfort in our hearts during our first birthing experience.
We had 2 prenatal visits with Megan in our home where we discussed our birth plan and went over what our biggest anxieties about birth. She was a calming influence from the very start. I ended up going 2 weeks past my due date and Megan checked in with me regularly to see how I was doing and made suggestions to keep calm. She also provided information on potential natural labor starters. I debated with my Doctor on getting induced with pitocin and Megan was very supportive of me either way and was completely impartial to either decision. We did decide to get induced in the end and she came to the hospital for my induction on Friday evening and stayed for roughly 30 hours until our baby was born the next night. She brought essential oils and flameless candles to the labor and delivery room, which helped make the hospital room a little less medical feeling. I had pretty intense back labor and she and my husband took turns massaging my back with a really great back massager she brought. She was incredibly encouraging throughout the whole process. When it came time to push, Megan physically supported my leg and also provided plenty of mental support throughout the 2.5 hours of pushing. She came for a postpartum visit which was wonderful, she brought lasagna, lactation tea, sits bath, oranges and other samples of lotion and diaper cream. She suggested a local pediatrician that we love. I couldn’t be happier with my experience and couldn’t have done any of it without Megan. We count ourselves truly lucky to have had her warmth and expertise when we welcomed our son to the world.
Our sweet baby girl entered this world in a calm, loving, and supportive environment - much of that due to Megan's expertise as a doula. From the first meeting with her we knew we were in good hands. She was calming, affirming, and supported us through every step of the way. As first time parents we weren't exactly sure what to expect and having Megan by our side to walk us through what would likely happen and what was happening was an important aspect of our experience. We wouldn't change a thing about our experience! A huge thank you to Megan for being by our side from start to finish and helping to bring our beautiful baby girl into the world!
Having Megan as our doula completely changed my assumptions about labor. I was really nervous about childbirth and honestly thought it would be awful from the moment I started having contractions. Megan did so much to make that hospital room feel soothing and calm—she brought flameless candles and turned off the overhead fluorescents, had music to play, massaged my lower back, figured out how to change the temperature of the room, and walked with me up and down the corridors of the hospital, helping me breathe and move through the contractions. I felt so much more relaxed and capable than I had expected.
I had an epidural at 7cm dilated and was ready to push a few hours later. Pushing was tough—my son’s head wasn’t quite centered and it took about three hours! Megan and one of the nurses helped brace my legs while my husband supported my neck, and Megan had great advice and imagery that helped me use the right muscles during active pushing. She also reassured my husband, who was getting more and more nervous the longer the pushing went on. When I got discouraged and thought he was never going to come out, Megan told me I was doing great and reassured me that I was close and I could do this. After our son (finally!) joined us, Megan took some wonderful pictures of him and of the three of us getting to meet each other for the first time.
Despite all the pushing, I had a really lovely labor experience, and so much of that is due to Megan’s support—she made the hospital feel less harsh and more relaxed, had great strategies for getting through the contractions, completely supported the decisions I made during labor, provided emotional support to my husband, and was just generally wonderful. If our son gets a younger sibling I hope Megan will be there for their birth too!
We are very happy we chose megan as our doula! She is so warm and careing. Megan truly did offer us non-judgmental support. she helped us compile a birth plan, which I originally never thought i'd need. we engaged with our birth plan many times throughout labor, and I'm really glad I had everything written down and was able to remember my wishes for my laboring experience. Megan is very knowledgeable, organized, and professional, but open and honest at the same time. she stayed with us through labor, and offered so much support in early labor before we got to the hospital. She gave my partner many tips and cues during my labor and helped us stay connected, and that we very helpful. Megan was our secret weapon to making the birth of our son a calming and enjoyable experience.
Megan was a wonderful, caring, knowledgeable guide for us as we welcomed our first child. She brings a deep, caring spirit to her work and it shows in how quickly and well she communicated with us, including during two pre-natal visits to our home and emails/texts prior to going into labor. Megan was non-judgemental, offering ideas about how to alleviate certain preganancy woes without pushing anything, and this attitude helped me feel really supported. During labor, Megan was invaluable. She kept me as calm as could be, focused, and helped both my husband and I engage and re-engage in our birth plan and birthing techniques we'd planned to use. We are so appreciative to Megan for our birth experience and for her steady hand and calm ways throughout labor!
Labor and delivery is very unpredictable, but with Megan’s help I was able to have the birth I’d hoped for. I was very passionate about having an unmedicated, gentle birth and Megan was supportive and encouraging from the beginning. She came to our home for the prenatal meetings and provided us with useful info and resources. I wanted my fiancé and mother with me during the birth, so they were there too. We felt like one big team for the birth, thanks to the meetings. My fiancé was a little hesitant about using a doula because he was nervous his job as coach would be taken from him. After meeting with Megan he realized that he would still be my coach and she is meant to be support for both of us. And she was! Twelve days after my EDD my water broke and 11 hours later my baby was born. It all happened very quickly and Megan was there at the hospital right away. I was glad she was there because it was a very emotional and overwhelming experience and it was nice to have a person who knew what to expect and wasn’t emotionally attached to us. Every time I felt like I was going to panic Megan reassured me that everything was going great and I was going to be fine. She helped create a calm, relaxing environment in the hospital that made labor a little easier. In between contractions Megan encouraged me to change positions and to drink water. These things are so important but I would have totally ignored them once I was in the “labor zone” if she wasn’t there. A week after our son was born Megan came to our home to have our postnatal meeting. However, it felt a lot less like a meeting and a lot more like a little celebration and reunion. I would encourage anyone who is debating having a doula at their birth to do it. Giving birth is scary and painful, but also empowering and wonderful! The right mental state, a comfortable environment, and having the right people around you can make it be an amazing experience.
Megans a beautiful kind soul whom is a treasure to have by your side during your unique birth experience. I was very pleased and I know I made the right choice picking her. She has great attention to detail, is organized, kind, available, understanding and compassionate. She is organized and will help you with research and feeling prepared. She really makes you feel valued, heard and understood. She goes above and beyond and no matter what the situation she makes it a much better one. Thank you so much Megan! We really appreciate all your help, thoughtfulness and kindness.
I cannot stress enough how grateful my family is to have had Megan as a doula. Despite the fact that my husband and I didn't originally plan to have a doula, Megan responded immediately to my email during my 39th week of pregnancy and was more than willing to step in and help us out. We wanted to have a natural child birth and, knowing my doctor wanted to induce me for medical reasons, we knew we may need help. Megan made herself completely available despite the fact that I had given her only one week’s notice. I ended up going into labor before we even had a chance to meet and she met us at the hospital, jumping right in with counter pressure and massage which were INVALUABLE during painful contractions. Anytime I had a question or needed something Megan would immediately respond and many times anticipated my needs before I had even voiced them. She was great at helping me change positions to keep labor going and encouraged me when I felt like I couldn’t do it anymore. Megan also helped my husband and support team by teaching them how to do counter pressure and massage to keep me comfortable. She helped me to communicate my wishes to the labor and delivery staff, knowing that I wanted as little intervention as possible, and stood by me every time I wanted to have more time to progress on my own. Megan went above and beyond trying to keep me comfortable and continued to stay by my side until well after our baby girl was born. Despite the fact that I ended up with an epidural, I don’t think I would have made it as far as I did without Megan and I know I wouldn’t have had a natural (albeit medicated) birth. My family certainly wouldn’t have known how to help me and, despite all my research and planning, nothing compared to having Megan by my side. She is a genuinely kind and caring person and truly the best resource. She will be my first call when it comes time to do this again and I would recommend she be yours as well!
We were so lucky to have Megan as our doula for the birth of our daughter! She was absolutely wonderful. She met with us during our prenatal visit and spent a lot of time getting to know us and figuring out how she could best be of help to both myself and my partner during our labor. Megan also brought up important issues that we hadn't thought to consider. For example, she asked us if we knew about delayed cord clamping, and gave us helpful resources to learn more. She didn't sway our decisions, but rather gave us helpful information, created open dialogue, and supported us fully in all of our choices.
We had a very long labor and many things were unplanned. Megan came as soon as we called her and spent almost 24 hours straight with us. She was a calm, supportive, and positive presense throughout. Having her there made us both more confident and made a tough situation much more managable. My partner and I both thought I might need a c-section after all we had been through during the labor process, but after almost 30 hours of labor, we were successful without having to go that route. I definitely think having Megan there made a huge difference in our whole experience! We are so grateful!
Megan was the doula for my second daughter and she was great! From the first time I met her, I knew she was going to be a great help - and she was!
She arranged two visits before the delivery to cover many things. I had wanted a natural childbirth and Megan did everything possible to support that desire. She provided additional information for me as I asked questions and raised concerns. She was reassuring that I could deliver naturally even after i doubted myself. She also showed a great amount of respect toward my husband and answered all his concerns as well.
My birth experience was not what I had expected. My labor was only 1.5 hours long, but Megan came as soon as I called her. Eventhough we both expected hours of laboring and had planned how she would help me manage the pain, we didn't have that much time to try out those methods before I was already 10 cm and ready to push. However Megan was right there, encouraging me. I felt she was confident and that confidence gave me strength along with my husband's support.
Megan stayed right by my side after the delivery and during my 45 minutes of repair stitching. She used some of the relaxation methods then to help me focus that it would be over soon and I could soon hold my baby.
While breastfeeding for the first time, I kept telling the nurse it hurt and she said I just needed to endure the pain. One look at Megan and I knew she was wrong. I knew my gut was right and I took my daughter off my breast to avoid damage to my nipples. I was not confident in myself at that point but I knew from Megan's body language that I should just listen to my gut. Megan also helped after the delivery - getting us settled in our room, unpacking my bag, getting me fed etc
I would definitely hired Megan in a instant. Her training as a doula was evident and I know she has found the right place where her talents and desire have combined into the role of a doula.
