Janel was my doula for the birth of my second son, who was an HBAC, in Dec 2015. I didn't have a doula for my first birth and my husband tried to support me during labor but he wasn't very good at it. The support Janel provided me was amazing. She also helped my husband give me the support I needed. If I wasn't done having kids I would definitely hire Janel again!

This testimonial is far overdue (9 and a half months, to be exact!  I'm sorry Janel!), but my experience with Janel as my doula is as clear and present in my mind as ever...

From the moment I met Janel I knew that I wanted her to be a part of my birth experience. I was fortunate enough to work with both Janel and another doula, and they complimented each other extremely well.  Janel has a strong yet quiet presence that I observed during our initial meeting, when she immediately made me feel comfortable.  This quality helped me tremendously during my birth, as her approach and demeanor helped me to feel empowered and in control. Janel provided reassurance throughout my pregnancy, answered my questions, and listened to and alleviated my anxieties before, during, and after labor.  She provided a centering presence during labor when I hit a point where I didn't think I could continue, and gave me the encouragement I needed to get through it.  I really could not have done it without her! Janel was such a special part of my pregnancy and delivery, and I highly recommend her to anyone considering working with a doula!  She even brought us an amazing meal after the delivery and checked in more than once to see how we were doing with the new addition to our family.  I can't say enough positive things about my experience with Janel!  Additionally, the photos she was able to take during my labor capture the experience so well, and we will treasure them forever.

Janel helped us welcome our fourth baby at home, and honestly we couldn't have managed without her.

When I summoned her for the birth, she magically appeared just when I needed her. She stayed by my side, offering calm affirmations, pressure & touch when I needed it, suggestions for me to try different things as I moved through labor, hints to my husband, breaks to him when needed...all the things we needed without having to ask for any of it, which is exactly what one needs.

Janel also took pictures for us documenting my baby's quick entrance, which is a fantastic keepsake and also a way my mom & sister were able to feel connected to her birth even though they couldn't physically be present.

Janel was an integral part of my fantastic birth team.

My first homebirth (but my 5th birth) went beautifully thanks to my birth team! Janel was such a life saver during my contractions. Every time I felt one coming on I felt a little panic until I felt Janet behind me helping me through it. I know my birthing experience wouldn't have been as peaceful as it was if Janel wasn't there. So grateful for her.

Janel was a huge help and comfort to me and my husband during the birth of our first child. She went above and beyond what we expected, and offered gentle and experienced advice and help. She comforted me physically and emotionally, and encouraged me when I needed it. She came to my homebirth attempt, and transferred to the hospital with me, staying until after the birth of our son (19 hours).

We had planned a homebirth, and Janel had had her previous two children at home with the midwife I had chosen, so our midwife put us in contact with one another. When we met Janel, we were very impressed by her friendly and gentle personality, as well as her experiences having natural births herself. We are so glad that we chose Janel for our doula! She kept in good contact with me throughout the rest of the pregnancy, and even went with me to an ultrasound that I was very nervous about (we were finding out if our baby was still breech at 34 weeks). I was so glad that she came. Our baby had turned head down, thankfully! Janel came to our homebirth classes and I was always very impressed by her input to the group discussion. She offered such down-to-earth comments and helpful, encouraging advice. She even brought me some extra baby things and herbal tea that she didn't need. When I was in labor, she was available to talk with in the early stages, and came over at 5:00 am when I was farther along. She stayed to offer physical support (massages, pressure, advice, water, etc.) and to keep up our spirits until at 5:00 pm we found out we needed to transfer to the hospital due to baby positioning. We all drove to the hospital an hour away, and once there she stayed for support as I pushed for two hours. When the doctors said the baby was in a dangerous position, we had a C-Section, and she stayed until after the baby was born at midnight. She then came to visit us at our house twice after our son was born, even bringing us delicious meals.

She was wonderful!
