I eneded up with a c-section with my first baby so when I got pregnant with my second I started researching ways to increase my chances of a VBAC and every article/blog post I read said to get a Doula. So I started searching and I am so glad I found Meagan. She was everything I needed through a stressful few DAYS of early labor, and all through active labor, delivery and recovery. I had successful VBAC with a 10lb baby and I am so grateful for everything Meagan did to help me acheive my goal. I would like to add that my husband was very skeptical at first of doulas in general and now says that Meagan was worth every penny, I am so sad we are moving out of state and cannot use her for any future pregnancies. I especially recommend Meagan to any women looking to have a VBAC she has both professional and personal experience with it and gave me confidence and put me at ease with something I was VERY nervous and anxious about. In short I have nothing but good things to say about Meagan, I not only had the birth I wanted but I made a life long friend as well.
OMG She is AWESOME!! Luckily a friend of mine referred her to me. I was having a hard time finding someone I connected with. You really need to interview them on the phone before you do anything else. The first seconds of me talking to Meagan, I loved her. On our phone call, she was very professional and nice. She answered every single question I had without rushing me. I asked if she was going to care if I swore or was rude during my labor and she said she wouldn’t care at all! When I first started my hunt, I knew nothing about the cost of doulas. I made up a number in my head of what I wanted to pay. When I found her, she was just outside of it but I HAD to have her. I told my husband all about her and how it was worth it. He was a little hesitant because it was our first child. He was thinking that it may be unnecessary to have a doula. But after the labor, he decided that 100% every woman should have a doula. When I met her, and we were doing our 1 on 1's, she was very real with us. Like she would give examples of things she went through or make me feel like my questions weren’t stupid by explaining something she may have felt was silly. She truly does take your calls or texts like her services offer. I felt stupid bugging her but she didn’t care. When it came to the big day, she made suggestions that were good for me. She was very patient with me and listened to everything I said or asked. Her personality definitely flowed with what I needed during each stage of the labor. She took some sweet pictures of our experience. I will use her through all of my pregnancies. I swear to you that she is so cool my husband and I told her that she had to be our friend forever!!
Not even really sure where to start.
Meagan and her love for birth/labor/babies is amazing.
I couldn't have asked for better support during my pregnancy and labor. I know that without her and her knowledge that I couldn't have had the natural birth that I wanted so badly. She didn't leave my side when I needed her most and for that I'm truly grateful.
Meagan I can't thank you enough for what you did for me and my family. We love you so much.
Anyone who is thinking about doula services, you couldn't make a better choice by doing with her
Also, she took some pictures and made a video for us that I will cherish for a lifetime, you can't put a dollar amount on what that means to us
She is amazing!!! Picking a doula is tricky thing. You want someone in your corner who will be there through your worst pain, your favorite life memory, and in your corner to help you make the big decisions. Push for longer, go ahead and get the c-section? hold off on the epidural a little bit longer? I had just moved to Utah from Washington D.C. and knew my old friend and doula wouldn't travel with me. I needed someone with experience. I wanted someone who had kids of her own who could level with me and knew the pain I would be going through. Within minutes of talking to Meaghan I could hear the experience in her voice and knew she has seen her share of various types of births! She is professional, and has a network of doulas who can act as back ups, so I knew she or one of her good friends would be there for me. She talked to me through my pregnancy and kept my spirits high. She was the support I needed and was there for me at 3 AM on the way to the hospital to the moment of holding my baby and beyond for our follow up. She is amazing!
Meagan is great - an experienced mother who knows what you are going through. The only thing I can be sorry about is that I haven't met her sooner. I was already at a hospital when I desperately needed her last minute advice. She was very flexible (arrived very shortly, even though we never met before, and stayed with me very late till the evening), knowledgeable and supportive. She could tell from my pain that the baby is in posterior position - something the doctors never even bothered to investigate. She showed me some exercises how to turn the baby into the correct position. She supports all the natural ways to induce the labor (being active, clary sage oil, etc.). The labor unfortunately ended in a C-section - something I was trying to avoid. The experience I got is that I would love to use her services next time, rather than going to the hospital again. She's a person you can trust, and I believe my labor would have been much smoother if I have known her earlier in my pregnancy.
I will be forever grateful to Meagan. There is no way that I could have done my intervention-free birith without her. She truly was my advocate and my comfort during, before, and even after going into labor and having my child. I texted her occasionally beforehand about worries and pregnancy symptoms and she was always quick to respond with helpful tips and so much compassion. She exuded an incredible amount of confidence in her position. She was very supportive of my husband's role in the birth as well. I remember being so incredibly scared and overwhelmed at one point with people firing questions left and right and I looked over at Meagan and she just softly nodded, giving me the confidence to respond with what I wanted. She was defintely the most peaceful presence at my birth.
She is knowledgable, confident, and incredibly compassionate. She worked hard and tirelessly to ensure me the most comfort possible. I hope that she will be available for my next birth because if she is, I plan to hire her again. I couldn't be more happy with her services.
Having Meagan as our doula was one of the best choices we made in preparing and planning for our first child's delivery. The reason I say that is because Meagan provided just the support we needed. One thing I really appreciated was that she really got to know us and listened to what we wanted so that she could best help us. I never felt pressured to do things a certain way by Meagan, which meant a lot.
Meagan did a great deal of teaching before delivery which helped a lot once the process got started. Once labor started, she kept track of everything and helped me through painful contractions while she also helped my husband to feel part of the process.
I loved that Meagan took pictures and then wrote our baby's birth story for us to have. Those momentoes are priceless
I cant ant say enough good a it Meagan and will be using her again when baby #2!
Meagan is an absolutely incredible doula! I was fortunate enough to have Meagan assist with the birth of my second daughter. I brought Meagan and her teacher Angie onto my birth team after my third day of laboring at home. I was absolutely exhausted both physically and mentally and knew that I could not labor on my own anymore. I had been going back and forth on hiring a doula for months and knew that was the support I needed to get me through my labor. I was originally hesitant because I have a great relationship with my doctor and felt that between her and my husband I could get through my preganancy and labor no problem. After working with a doula I would highly recommend it for every woman. It really is so comforting to have the support you get from a doula. The second my doula's arrived I felt an immediate sense of relief. They were both very calming, respectful and helped me tremendously through the mental and physical aspects of labor. Meagan is incredibly knowledgable on different birthing positions, essential oils and ways to assist you through contractions. I felt that Meagan was very respectful of my birth plan and simply wanted to help me have the best birth experience that I could have, whether that was medicated or natural. Meagan was very professional, nurturing and compassionate. I really cannot say enough good things about my experience with Meagan and Angie, my only regret was not bringing them on earlier in my pregnancy.
Meagan Heaton is absolutely ahhhh-maaaa-zing!!
I hadn't originally planned on hiring a doula but after going through a terrifying emergency c-section with my first baby, I was really hoping for an unmedicated natural birth this time around to gain the memories that I missed the first time. I had no idea what to expect when I first contacted Meagan. I wasn't even really sure what a doula did, but all I can say now is that Meagan's services were invaluable.
Not only did Meagan spend time preparing me for the process of labor and learning how she may help me best cope, she also just got to know me on a personal level so that I was comfortable with her in such an intimate environment.
She was such a positive light and made me feel so confident during the process. She was a huge help to my birth team as well. She gave instruction to eveyone when they wanted to help with counter pressure and made everyone feel involved in the process. Meagan has such a happy disposition and really helped keep the energy in the room possitive. Not once did she ever waver when I needed help to get through the pain and she was calm even as I became more distressed. She really helped me stay in control throughout contractions. She was also essential in communicating with nurses when I had needs. At one point I felt that the contractions were becoming to painful for natural birth and she made sure that the staff turned down the pitocin so that I could have the medicine-free birth that I was dreaming of.
Meagan really understands the balance between the needs of mom, family, and staff that is so crucial to a successful birth and she always made me feel like her priority. Meagan helped a dream of mine come true in the form of a beautiful natural birth.
Anyone who wants a friend and not just a coach has found that in Meagan. She is such a worthwhile investment!
Best of luck,
Meagan was a crucial part of my birth team. My goal was to have an enmedicated vbac. I know that if she had not been there, I would not have been successful! She worked so hard during labor to help me manage my pain. She was so encouraging and always knew just what I needed to hear to keep going. She was also amazingly supportive before and after the birth. I truly feel blessed that she was a part of my labor team. I can't recommend her highly enough!
Meagan got back to me quickly from the first time I contacted her and was very friendly. I was excited to have her as our birth photographer because I knew she would be comfortable in the birth setting. I also loved the idea that I could use her as a doula if needed. She put in so much more work than what I paid for. She stayed as long as I requested after the birth and captured spontaneous moments as well as poses we staged. Her follow up was great and I would definitely use her again!
Megan was a very energetic and supportive doula. She was accommodating and flexible with our meeting times. What impressed me most was her absolute dedication to me and my baby. even though our planned vbac turned into HELLP syndrome, Megan was there with us. Helping us ask the right questions, taking pictures to capture every moment. She also knew when to step back and let us have family time and make our choices. She was a huge asset to our team always asking the doctors to come and explain what was happening. We are so glad we had her there, she brought tons of positive vibes through her words of encouragement.
I absolutely loved working with Meagan. She has such good energy and a vast knowledge of birth and the process. She is not afraid to get into interesting positions to do counter pressure either. She is so good with the hospital staff and significant others. She helps keep moms in the zone and helps them achieve their goals. She doesn't judge you for any of your decisions, she supports you 100% in whatever you want. I can't say enough good things about her!
Meagan was such an amazing help while she was shadowing one of my client's births. She truly has a strong intuition of what to say, do, and suggest. She is one of the sweetest women and I am so thankful she was there with me. Meagan goes out of her way to help families where no request is impossible. I am so grateful to have met, worked with, and to have become doula sisters with Meagan.
