It was a pleasure having Becca as our doula! We chose Becca to support the birth of our first child because of her clear passion for her work as a doula. We also felt a connection with her that continued throughout our experience. In our prenatal meetings she was resourceful and knowledgeable, and seemed interested in getting to know us personally. Leading up to labor, Becca provided us with resources to answer our questions. In the last weeks of pregnancy, she made herself available to us 24/7, responding to our questions promptly, positively, and with the perfect amount of information for us to feel comforted or to investigate further. We were excited and anxious in early labor and contacted Becca several times in the middle of that first night. Every time we spoke, she offered both affirmations and concrete suggestions. Once Becca joined us at the hospital, she was amazing! She knew exactly when to speak up and when to hang back. She knew when and what information we wanted to hear. When things were emotional or intense, Becca was a positive, affirming, and calming presence. Not only was she devoted to supporting my wife but she checked in on me and interacted positively with the many nurses and doctors. At one point, while Becca had stepped out, our nurse said, “I’ve worked with a lot of doulas, and you two have a great doula!” Becca was with us at the hospital for 24 hours and she remained focused, attentive, and positive throughout the entire time. After delivery, Becca stayed with us until it was clear we were comfortable and had all our immediate needs met. The postpartum visit was also a treat, to be able to look back, reflect on labor and delivery, and process our emotions. We definitely recommend Becca to anyone considering a doula for their birth. If we have more children, Becca will be our first call! We can’t imagine having gone through labor and birth without her in the room with us and we are incredibly grateful to her.
Having Becca be part of the birth of our son was wonderful as she added so much to our confidence, understanding and the joy we experienced. Becca is a fantastic doula and my husband and I were so pleased with her services. She is warm, empathetic, knoweldable and very caring. Before the birth of our son, she spent time getting to know me and my husband, our preferences, thoughts, concerns and questions about birth. This being our first child, we had many questions and she had patience, information and resources to help us. Once labor begain, she was there for us with emotional support before we decided to go to the hospital as well as suggestions of labor positions and reassurance. Becca helped us labor at home as long as we could (our preference) and helped keep my husband and I calm and focused. Once we decided to go to the hospital, Becca met us there and helped us get setlled in and ready to prepare for the birth of our baby. Becca provided physical support to me in the hospital. She helped me get into different positions to keep labor progressing. She also comforted me and helped me remain calm when experiencing pain and uncertainy in how the labor would progress. Becca remained with us after our delivery and ensured we had what we needed to get settled into the hospital for our post partum stay.
I can't imagine not having her support throughout the labor and delivery. She also came to visit us at our home the following week after we returned from the hospital. With Becca with us, I was able to rely on her and focus on the excitement and joy knowing we were about to meet our baby. I knew we had a true advocate with us that we could depend on. She truly is an incredibly caring and compassionate person with a true calling to the work and passion of being a doula.
Becca provided wonderful support to me and my husband for the birth of my second child. I had a complicated pregnancy and an early C-section for my first child, and I was eager to try a VBAC for my second. Becca met with my husband and I twice during the pregnancy to get to know us and discuss labor and delivery desires. She is an excellent listener and facilitator, and walking through options with her really helped us to focus and get on the same page. Her informative, open, and calm style was also very reassuring as late stage pregnancy and labor were new territory (and sort of scary). Becca joined us at the hospital when it was time, and provided the perfect amount of support throughout. She interpreted my changing mood/needs well, providing suggestions/assistance and letting me do my own thing as most appropriate at the time. Overall, I felt like I had a strong team backing me up, and am so glad she was with us. All of the nurses also mentioned afterward how great she was to have in the room. I highly recommend Becca's doula services. Besides the wonderful support she provides, it was an absolute pleasure getting to spend time with such a lovely, fun person.
My husband and I hired Becca to be our birth doula for our first and only child in 2015. Becca provided pre-birth visits and post-partum doula services, but missed my birth because it was much faster than expected. Becca met with us 2x before our birth and we kept in touch more frequently in the week or so before delivery via text. (We also spoke with her over the phone during labor.) Becca also helped as a postpartum doula after our birth around the house. Becca’s pre-delivery meetings were great – she helped me/us determine and refine our birth intention and plans via asking questions designed to invite us to think about and weigh our options. We really needed this guidance to get us clear about our expectations and intentions. Having talked about this stuff out loud helped me feel more in control of the situation, which is calming for me. Becca also provided resources (a book with lots of birth stories, and various websites) to help familiarize myself with the process, which helped me understand the range of things that could happen during the birth process. This also helped me feel in control of myself and the process. Becca is warm and very accessible, and clearly loves helping women through birth as a doula – her enthusiasm was a big factor in our hiring her.
Becca was my doula through my pregnancy and birth with my daughter. Becca met with us twice before the birth, discussing our hopes for the birth, questions and concerns and what we expected from her at our birth. Becca also came to the hospital during labor and stayed the entire time, offering support, suggestions, cookies and wonderful company! She then met with us after, about 2 weeks postpartum, at our home. Becca was absolutely unbelievable. In our pre birth meetings, she was kind, patient and gently moved us towards answering important and difficult questions about how we wanted to birth. She really listened, and gave great feedback. This was so helpful, as we are first time parents and had many different ideas about labor and birth, with important differences that we needed to iron out. When my water broke, she reminded us of questions to consider for ourselves before we spoke to my midwife, kept me calm by talking me through what was happening, and was so available to us the entire labor period. When she arrived at the hospital, I couldn’t have been happier to see her- she was calm, generous, maternal, and immediately held my hand, locked eyes with me and breathed with me through a contraction. I needed her, and she was there- sitting with me, making eye contact, breathing, rubbing my back and head, helping my husband so I didn’t have to worry, talking to my parents and updating them….just outstanding in every way. I couldn’t have done it without her (although she would probably say I was totally capable!) When I got my epidural, she was supportive, non judgmental and informed. I know my husband is especially grateful for her- he had a hard time, and he credits her entirely with keeping him sane :) My parents also continually speak about how lovely she was with them, and how secure they felt knowing that Becca was a part of my team. Truly- anyone would be spectacularly lucky to have Becca bear witness to their birth.
Becca was my doula for the natural birth of my son. Becca provided me with two pre-natal visits, as well as on call support up until the birth of my son and during the laboring process she attended to me at the hospital. Becca exceeded my expectations as my doula. Not only was she professional and thorough during our pre-natal visits (and everything in between) but she really listened to my needs and hopes for my birth and I felt did everything in her power to help me achieve the natural birth I wished for. Becca did not have an agenda to push, and heard what I hoped for/feared/worried about and translated it all into the emotional support I needed during my labor. But most importantly Becca recognized that I needed/wanted to be very inward during my labor and she respected it. She was thoughtful in offering support (i.e. new laboring positions to get through contractions) but quickly recognized that the method my body chose (pacing around the room) was the only way I could push through the contractions. She reminded me to nourish myself during labor (she was the sole reason I stayed hydrated!) which I spoke of prior to going into labor. Becca also reminded me of desires for my birth that I had completely forgotten about. And the single most important thing Becca did was keep me calm and my husband as well. I would recommend Becca a thousand times as a doula.
