Jamie was an amazing part of the birth of my first child. She was ready to help in any way I needed, and had many good suggestions to keep my wife comfortable while laboring at home and at the birth center. Much of the time she was in the background, not seeking to do all the work or grab the spotlight; but she was never abscent during the entire process, which was over 10 hours. She was always checking to see if I needed anything and made sure I was comfortable with what she was doing.
Our birth experience was better than I could have ever imagined, and Jamie helped make it all possible. Thank you Jamie.
This was my wife's and my first child. Jamie came highly recommended. I was hesitant on the value of a doula but I wanted to support my wife. When I met Jamie I was impressed by her compassion and the level of confidence she brought and gave my wife comfort in the thought of giving birth. We knew Jamie was out of town the week we were due. She set us up with her backup Lisa, who was fantastic. Overall, Jamie and Lisa helped us know what to expect in advance, in the moment, and also were invaluable in establishing our birth plan. My wife used laughing gas during the delivery and was able to deliver naturally. Every couple should use a doula for at least their first birth.
Jamie was absolutely the best decision I could have made for my birth. I had a traumatic C-section with my first and sought out supportive midwives for my second. After telling them what my first experience was like and what I wanted for my second birth, they said all the difference could be made by having a doula. They were absolutely correct. While my midwives focused on the health of me and my baby, Jamie focused on my mental and emotional health long before my due date. She was incredibly thoughtful and prepared. She met with me several times in the months before my birth to get to know me and my husband and everything we were thinking, feeling, and wishing for my upcoming birth. She was so sensitive and made me feel so comfortable and open. She was also a great resource for my discomfort and fears throughout pregnancy.
During labor she came as soon as I asked and was an extremely calming presence, especially since my husband was late in arriving, but Jamie had already been part of our lives and birth team that I wasn't worried. She thought of so many things during labor that I didn't think I would want, or would work, but they did and she kept me hydrated, fed, calm and comfortable. It's difficult to describe the strength she gave me, but without her and my husband I wouldn't have had the confidence I did.
She made all the difference going into labor with a calm assurance that set the tone I needed throughout labor. She stayed after the birth to make sure we were taken care of, relaxed and happy. She checked in, visited, and did post partum care as well. It's made an incredible difference in my mental/emotional healing to be cared for so entirely and holistically. My birth was an incredible experience and I know that it was because of Jamie's work and effort.
You will be in the best hands! She is absolutely worth it!
