Bria has an incredible soul inside and out! There is no wonder why I was drawn to her and so set on having her as my doula. She was the perfect fit to my birth team with my husband and midwives for my planned home birth.
She met with my husband and I a few times prenatally to get to know our values and desires. She provided endless communication and emotional support prenatally through postpartum. Upon labor, she exceeded my expectations! She was here so fast by my side. We had so many intimate moments through contractions with swaying and hanging positions while my husband finished getting my birth tub set up and our three year old ready to be picked up later on. She always had all my comfort needs met and continuous support for me as well as my husband. With the love and support from Bria and my husband I felt so strong and so empowered through the hardest parts of labor. After delivery, I faced a few challenges where Bria never left my side and waited until I was comfortably back in bed with my new baby before leaving. Her positive, calmness, attentive, encouraging approach to labor support was exactly what I needed.
Words cannot express how grateful I am for being able to get to know Bria and have her apart of one of the best days of my life.
I truly feel without Bria we would not have been able to have the beautiful natural birth that we had. She gave both myself and my husband the support we so badly needed. She supported us in ways we didn't even know we needed and did so for hours without wavering. I felt comfortable and confident with her on our team and would recommend her to anyone pregnant, no matter what type of birth you are planning to have. She is a true master of her trade.
We found Bria through a friend who highly recommended her. From our first meeting I knew she was going to be a perfect partner in supporting the kind of birth experience we wanted. She is incredibly warm, comforting and non judgemental. When I had to be induced three weeks early I was so upset I could potentially not have the birth experience that I wanted. Through the entire induction process, Bria provided support and comfort, answering questions and providing advice and motivation. I was initially so upset that I wouldn't be able to utilize Bria the way we wanted because of the induction but even through my short experience laboring, she was a huge asset for myself and my husband. Although I did end up with an epidural, we all made that decision together to save the experience and Bria was there every step of the way, including holding a leg while I pushed! I highly recommend this warm, beautiful woman for any type of labor support you may want or need. Next go round she'll be right there with us again as she was the best support myself and my husband could ever have.
Bria was the best doula we could have asked for! She was very intuitive, knew the best ways to comfort me and when, she cared for my husband and helped him be the best partner he could for me. She helped me have a successful, positive, natural hospital birth of an exceptionally large baby boy.
We hired Bria to be our doula for the birth of our second child. She is very friendly and easy going. She is a good listener and doesn't hesitate when approached by something she's unfamiliar with; she seeks the answer within her vast group of resources. These are all important qualities for us in our search for a doula.
Every birth is different. The births of our girls were so similar it was uncanny. Bria showed great encouragement and support during the labor and also the couple weeks prior to labor while I went through prodromal labor. She helped me focus on right things, helped me find postures that would positively effect the position of our baby.
During labor, which was fairly long, my husband needed to leave for a little bit and Bria was there standing in his place while I continued to labor. When we transferred to the hospital from the birth center, she parked our car for us so my husband could stay with me during the check in process.
If I were to have another baby, Bria would be one of the first people I call and she would definitely be my first choice for a doula!
Where do I start? Bria was absolutely wonderful! We interviewed several doulas and decided on Bria because we felt like we really connected with her and also had similar things in common. She is so sweet, has a calm demeanor and is very relatable. I always wanted to hire a doula because I knew it would be extremely helpful in labor, but my husband was not 100% sold on hiring a one. He didn't completely understand the value of having one, but agreed to hire one anyway. After the fact, he was 100% sold on having a doula, especially Bria! After being in the hospital all day because of PROM, we decided to call Bria because contractions were progressing. She arrived shortly and my contractions started really picking up. My husband was wonderful in helping me with contractions, but Bria would also step in to give him a break. I didn't know it at the time, but while she was with me, my husband was able to leave the room and chat with our parents for a few minutes, drink some coffee, etc. I know that those short breaks were much needed to refresh him! She was so calm and comforting and it was nice having another woman there to offer encouragement and motivation (since labor is something that a husband simply can't empathize with). She also brought me juice, snacks, and water and even snapped a few pictures and video for us as well. I ended up pushing for several hours and our my baby was crowning for a few hours as well. Needless to say, we had some challenges, but she helped me and my husband to persevere and I was able to have the natural birth that I had hoped for. I feel like words can't even do her justice but her presence, help and encouragement was invaluable to us! We are so thankful that we were able to have her be a part of our birth experience and will definitely hire her for our next birth as well. We love you Bria!
My partner and I loved working with Bria! The nature of her personality coincides perfectly with the amount of compassion and positive energy that she enhances as a doula. Bria provided amazing physical and emotional support before, during, and after our labor. She was an awesome birth companion for my partner and I, and we highly recommend her services to other expecting mothers!
Bria was our backup doula and went above and beyond to be there for my husband and I at a moment's notice. She was always quick to respond to my messages and even provided me with another backup doula in case of an emergency. One morning I was going in for a routine appointment and ended up being induced. I called Bria and she was there by my side in a heartbeat, which I was grateful for since this was my first time giving birth and I did not know what to expect. Just having her there was comforting.
I love her passion for all things birth-related. Her passion helped me feel confident in my body's ability to bring a baby into the world. My labor ended up being over 24 hours long; yet throughout it all, she was there encouraging me, assisting my partner and I to work together as a team, and providing comfort through massage. Not to mention; while I was in labor, another of her clients ended up laboring in another room of the hospital! She somehow managed to visit her other client without me feeling left out at the least. Her timing was flawless and perfect, excusing herself when I wanted some time to myself.
Things did not go exactly as I envisioned they would in my mind, but I felt satisfied with my birthing experience. A large part of my satisfaction had to do with her neverending optimism. At a moment when I started feeling less than great about how things went, she told me "you are the most polite woman I have ever seen in labor!" That gave me a good laugh and was something that made me feel proud of myself for handling things gracefully. If you would like to work with a doula that is reliable, optimistic (with a great sense of humor), and passionate about what she does; then Bria would be a great match for you!
With Bria's help, I was able to have just the birth experience I was hoping for.
I especially benefitted from the massage she gave me as my contractions increased in intensity. Her nurturing touch really helped me to stay relaxed and let my body do what it was meant to do. My husband also commented several times after the birth about how glad he was that Bria was there. I would definitely recommend Bria to anyone thinking about having a doula attend their birthing. That extra support and nourishing, feminine energy really makes a difference.
My husband and I used a doula with our first birth at a birth center. We knew we wanted a doula again and we felt comfortable enough to use a "student". When we interviewed Bria, she had just finished the class. That didn't matter. She was great. She seemed comfortable with us and we felt comfortable with her. She truly has a passion for being a doula. She's very caring and understood our needs and wants with labor and delivery.
We were planning on a home birth with a midwife. Everyone was excited. She met with us numerous times and in the final weeks, she contacted us almost daily. Especially once I hit the 40 week mark. At 41 weeks, I started trying everything to get contractions started naturally. The final day at 42 weeks, I had to inform Bria that if nothing happened by midnight, we would be going to the hospital in the morning to start induction. Well, contactions started just after midnight and Bria came over. Things moved quickly and we rushed to the hopital. Baby was born at 4:03am. She was able to get a few pictures in the short time of delivery and after. We were home 6 hours later and Bria came by to check on us a few days later.
Bria has a great heart and compassion and it shows in every meeting. She was more than a doula, she's a friend. I'm so glad we chose her to be a part of such a special life experience.
On March 30th, 2015 my family was blessed with a second baby boy, Byron. Going in to this pregnancy I knew that I wanted this experience to be different than my first delivery with our older son. I wanted to be fully present, fully aware of what was happening with my body and to fully understand the capabilities of the female body. Having a doula did not cross my mind until I was about 7 or 8 months into pregnancy. This was because I was not fully informed of what a doula can do for me. When we met with Bria, I knew that we needed to work with her. She was so full of information and positivity and encouragement. We felt comfortable and at ease with her. We desired a fully natural delivery and although things did not go exactly as planned, with Bria's help we had the best possible experience for me and my family. Through the pain and discomfort Bria's voice was the one constant I heard and focused on the whole time. Her reminders to breath for my baby and her calming touch kept me focused on the miracle that was happening. She was there for us willing to help and inform us in the pre-delivery meetings at our home. She was our shoulder to lean on during delivery. And she continues to be our coach and cheerleader after deliver with helpful insight about breastfeeding and bonding with our baby boy. I believe that Bria has found her correct path as a doula and this is what she was meant to do. I don't believe this experience would have been as special and positive as it was without her beside us.
My boyfriend, Levi, was open to the idea of a doula, not sold though. After meeting Bria, we were equally excited about the role she would have on our big day. She made it possible for me to make it through the waves of labor by offering various comfort techniques. Counter pressure was so helpful for me and Levi was so glad to have guidance on how he could help me through labor. We were grateful that Bria was there for when Levi needed a break, but also made it so he didn't have to leave my side when I needed water, etc. Our parents were a little invasive on delivery day and Bria did a great job protecting our "bubble" without offending anyone! We definitely wouldn't have been able to do that by ourselves! We are so thankful Bria joined us on our big day!
