Melissa Albrecht

Tara was an exceptional doula support to me before and after delivery of our first child. She made the entire experience less stressful and helped me manage my pain. Tara has a very calm and knowledgable approach and she helped my husband keep a clear focus. In fact, I hired her to help take care of him so he wouldn't freak out! Prepare all you want, but you never know exactly how things will go. My baby was slightly at a wrong angle, which pressed against my cervix and prevented full dialation. This caused my delivery to last an unusual 48 hours of active contractions. At the end, I had to divert from my plan of natural childbirth (in the hospital) and go with an epidural in order to fully dilate, Tara never once indicated that I was taking too long or that I should do something her way. She helped me process the information doctors and nurses were giving and she was respectful of my decisions. At one point I suggested Tara could go home (she has a little one too!) however she responded she was going to stay with me for however long it took and she wanted to meet my baby when he arrived. She helped us feel joyful and at peace when delivery was finally over. Tara checked in with me postpartum by email, phone, and in one more home visit to help ease the biggest change in my life. Tara has always been encouraging and has linked me to other resources in the community. Your birth experience is special, so call Tara to help you in the hardest and most joyful thing you will ever do!
