In class we focus on preparation for birth including prenatal exercise and diet, communication with your medical team, birth options, practice of comfort measures and relaxation techniques, labor rehearsals, postpartum baby and mom care, and much more. You can find more information on these classes at www.bradleybirth.com/annettedionisio. Doula services are discounted to clients also enrolled in my childbirth class.

My husband and I had a fantastic experience using Annette as our doula this past May '17. We were brand new to everything, and so were anxious to learn as much as we can about pregnancy and birth, but the one thing we knew we wanted was every possible chance to have an unmedicated natural birth. Annette is a good friend of mine and I knew she was also Bradley instructor and had taught many of our mutual friends who were able to deliver naturally using the Bradley method, so I did not hesitate to take both her classes and hire her as our doula for extra support alongside my husband. We can truly say that without her support, encouragement, assistance, and wisdom, we would not have been able to have a wonderful unmedicated natural birth, just as we hoped, in spite of many things!! I learned that I had to be induced at 39 weeks with a pre-eclampsia diagnosis, so the hospital was keen on monitoring and following up with intervention after intervention, and even my midwives wanted to proceed with more interventions than we had wanted. But with Annette's support and knowledge, we were able to make informed decisions and were able to end up having a quick natural birth without any medications, just as we had wanted. It was even more amazing to have her with us almost the entire time we were in the hospital, through the night, and as I was laboring!! She gave verbal and physical support for me all through labor, and literally knew exactly just what to do and how to help me without even asking. I had a great experience with my birth, and I credit it to the Bradley classes, my husband's coaching, my midwives, and my doula, who were all essential in making it as smooth as it could be. My husband and I were very pleased and would not hesitate to have her all over again!! We highland recommend her to all our famiy and friends.
I am convinced Annette was sent by God to ensure I had an amazing VBAC! She helped prepare me during my pregnancy by addressing my fears of attempting a VBAC. My first daughter was 9 pounds 8 ounces and my doctors were already speculating that this one was also going to be large. So while the doctors were busy telling me I couldn't have a VBAC, she encouraged me with her confidence in my body's ability to give birth naturally.
During labor she guided my husband in how to assist me and communicated my progress. He felt supported and free from having to worry about how everything was going. By having her there he was able to be at peace and in the moment. She assisted me in managing pain by massage, aromatherapy and observing when I would tense up. I do not like to be told to relax, what woman does right! But she managed to get me to listen to her and relax. In addition, she communicated my wants and made me feel in control of my labor.
In the end Annette was right about my body's ability to have a vaginal un-medicated birth. Our new baby girl was born at 9 pounds 4 ounces. She facilitated a wonderful healing experience. My husband and I both agree it would not have been the same without her!
As first-time expectant parents, Annette was so amazing to work with. Knowing that we wanted to plan for a natural and un-medicated birth experience, we signed up for Annette’s Bradley Method birthing class. Beyond the extensive Bradley Method knowledge she gave us, Annette also shared with us her first-hand knowledge and experiences of being a doula and mother herself. We were always very relaxed and comfortable in her presence, something that is necessary when learning and preparing for childbirth. We always knew that we weren’t just another couple to teach in a class environment. She was always available for any question or concern, no matter how small or insignificant because it was important to her that our minds be at ease. To Annette, our experience and birth plan, and child, mattered to her! Being a doula is not just a job to Annette, it's a calling, and one that she answers with grace, compassion and understanding.
Annette was my doula for the birth of my daughter in March 2015. This was my first birth. We decided to use a doula around 36 weeks--late!--and yet, Annette was flexible and able to meet with us for our two pre-birth appointments. Annette is extremely well organized: preparing reading material for us about different aspects of the birth and post-partum period to consider. Also, Annette always kept in touch and kept up with what was going on in my pregnancy and at my appointments. Because she kept up, she was able to offer guidance or information about anything that came up at appointments and guide me as to conversations that were useful to have with my midwife for the next appointment. Overall, pre-birth I knew I could trust Annette and that she was a secure, kind, and thoughtful person.
At my birth, Annette was extemely well-prepared. We labored at home for some of the time and kept in touch with Annette, who was readily available whenever we needed her. Annette met us at the hospital and went to work! My sister commented that she was the only one in the room who never took a break and never seemed tired. Annette comes with a bag of tricks to help at various stages that demonstrate her attention to detail, for example: little honey packets to squirt in my mouth when I was losing energy during pushing.
Really, this testimonial could go on and on. What I would especially like to emphasize about Annette is her ability to adjust and collaborate, which I think is a huge asset in birth. Annette is not a loud, bossy, or confrontational person. What I found about Annette is that she was observing carefully my husband and myself and fitting herself into the gaps to strengthen us and the birth process. Similarly, at the hospital, a woman comes with her "team" and then there is a healthcare "team", which COULD create friction, but Annette observes and collaborates and helps people work together.
Basically, Annette is GREAT!
My experience with Annette was absolutely wonderful. Having a new baby is a busy time, so this testimonial took me a little nit to get to. But I knew I had to sing Annette's praises!
From our first conversation over email and telephone, Annette was engaged and excited about the birth of our son. She was always available through text and phone, as well as email, at anytime, of I had questions or concerns, from the big to the slightly annoying. She always remembered my important appointments, and would ask for updates regularly and talk me through any rough spots. She gave me confidence to fight for a natural birth with a medical team who was not very inclined to follow through with my wishes, at a hospital that is well known for the quick administration of medication and pain management. I truly owe my successful Bradley Birth to her!
Annette gets and stays involved. But she understands the important role of your husband/partner and never tries to take away from that or them. This was a main concern of ours when looking for a Doula. She even walked us through communication issues that came up during my pregnancy whch brought us to a better place to experience the natural birth of our son together.
If you're looking for a Doula/Bradley Birth coach in this area, I highly reccommend her. She was with is from beginning to end, offered extra classes, worked with our constantly changing schedules, and even stayed up to date with us AFTER the birth.
Thanks Annette! She is truly the best!
