Having Vicki as our doula was one of the best decisions we made concerning the birth of our daughter. Vicki came to our house, accompanied us to our birth center, and continued on with us upon transfer to the hospital, providing a constant and consistant presence during my 35 hour labor amidst changes of venue and practitioners. She provided continuous support both physically and emotionally to both myself and my husband. Though I was convinced prior to hiring her of our need for a doula, my husband was on the fence. After the birth of our daughter, my husband expressed not only that he felt having Vicki with us had been essential, but that, when the baby came and the time came for Vicki to leave, he had a moment of wondering how we could go on through the rest of the process without her. Luckily, Vicki was not only an essential addition to our birth team, she also provided the much needed support we craved both before and after delivery, meeting with us for pre-natal visits, and providing us with postpartum assistance through texts and phone calls concerning everything from questions about my healing to breastfeeding concerns. Vicki fit in with our little family like she had always been a part of it and we can not imagine going through what we did without her at our side. If we ever think about adding more children to our family, it would be extremely important to us that we work with Vicki again if at all possible.
Vicki was an amazing doula throughout the whole process. Her knowlege and experience combined with her compassion and dedication was priceless. She was always available by text or phone and I knew that I could rely on her. Vicki went above and beyond the day I went into labor. She kept me calm and explained things to me and my husband when we didn't know what the nurses were doing or talking about. She was a true advocate for me when I was at my most vulnerable and unable to fully communicate to the medical staff. Vicki prayed over me during labour and stayed with my husband and his mother afterwards when I had to go into surgery. Vicki checked in with me after I had my baby via text and phone calls for months. I cannot give Vicki enough praise. She has truely found her calling and I feel so blessed to have had her for my birth.
Vicki was there for my 23 hour home birth and my hubby and I have literally no idea what we would've done without her! She showed up at 5 am and did not stop the whole time. I had horrible back labor and my hubby had been massaging me but when Vicki took over, it was like the pain just melted away. She knew what I needed before I needed it. She could tell exactly when a contraction was starting and when it would end. When it got to the point where I was so distracted I couldn't time them myself, she took care of it without a word. She was so helpful in coaching my husband in how to comfort me too. It was great to have him there but she actually knew what I was going through. And she suffered silently as I busted blood vessels in her hands when I was pushing! I have no idea how some women go through labor without a doula and I will not be doing that again if I can't have Vicki there! Love love love her!
So hard to describe in words how thankful we are for Vicki and her amazing giftedness at being a doula!
When I look back on the birth of our son, I have nothing but feelings of gratitude and love. Vickis presence in the room was irrepacable and allowed both Kyle and I to stay calm and enjoy the experience. I was comforted by her words of encouragement, her various techniques she used to help me deal with back labor and assertive knowledge of labor. As always, my birth didn't go as planned but Vicki helped keep us focused yet was good at reading my needs to allow me to do what I needed to do for our Son's birth.
I would highly recommend Vicki to anyone, as she is so easy to get along with. Vicki has such a warm, caring heart with such a passion for birth and caring for mama and babies. I won't be having a baby without Vicki by my side!
Our experience with having Vicki as our doula was wonderful! Being a first time mom I had no idea what to expect with labor. My biggest fear when I went into labor is that we'd go to the hospital and I'd be sent home because I wasn't far enough along. Turns out my labor was only 6 hours long and when we arrived at the hospital I was already dialated 10cm! Her encouragement convinced me that since I was already so far along that I could go natural. Never would I thought that I'd be able to handle it! She was also an encouragement to my husband. Vicki could give him instructions on ways to help me with each contraction and that made him feel more relaxed and glad to be involved. I cannot encourage ladies enough to have a doula when they deliver. Vicki made our experience less stressful and we'll be able to look back on it with the fondest of memories!
