We chose to have our baby under the guiding care of a midwife and doula. Initially, we thought that since we were working with a midwife, we wouldn't need a doula, but now, if someone told me I could only choose to have a midwife *or* a doula at my birth, I would choose my doula, Danielle. She was a constant support through my pregnancy and my labor, and my husband was so grateful for Danielle's support and guidance, as well. I honestly can't even imagine my birth without her - she was completely hands-on during my labor helping me with the physical task of bringing baby into the world, but she also respected my ability to listen to my body's own cues. She let me lead my process and stepped in with suggestions and reminders when necessary.

I found myself in a challenging situation in the middle of my pregnancy - I thought I was going to lose access to my healthcare provider and my family was being less than encouraging about my decision to birth out of a hospital.  Danielle was our first and best advocate.  She contacted me immediately to talk through my other options for care, provided words of comfort, and assured me that I could still have the empowered birth experience I so desired, regardless of my changing circumstances. She also provided me with great books and resources to help keep me spiritually and emotionally grounded during this tough transitional time.  It was so clear that she really "got" me as a whole person based on her specific book recommendations- they couldn't have been more perfectLu suited for me.

I can't speak highly enough of Danielle and her peers at Kindred Hearts. I loved every aspect of their care - from their birth services to their educational classes to their lovely modern-day Red Tent gatherings (Birth Circle). I felt so supported on my journey and am grateful for such a positive and empowered birth experience.

Danielle was amazing and encouraged us to enjoy the birth process, suggested a variety of positions and options during labor. She supported my husband so he could support me.  Both my husband and I are thankful we choose to utilize a doula, and finding Danielle was a blessing.  As first time parents, her reassurance, support and knowledge was invaluable!

We planned for a natural labor and delivery, but our little girl had a different plan for us.  Our natural experience morphed into an induction, epidural and finally vaccum assisted birth.  Danielle helped to provide education on the spot regarding our options for pain relief, laboring and much more--she never pushed us to choose one option over another, but simply provided us the tools we needed to make the best decisions for our birth and our family. We hadn't planned to embrace pain medications, but after laboring for more than 24 hours we opted for an epidural.  As our plans changed throughout the course of labor, her kindness and understanding never waivered. Our healthy baby girl was born after 35 hours of labor and nearly 2 hours of pushing; Danielle was there for all of it. Her experience and knowledge was incredibly helpful. I never felt like an inconvenience or client... instead, it felt like I had a supportive friend by my side.

Also, one of my favorite parts of the services Danielle provides is The Birth Circle.  The Birth Circle is a small group that meets each month for her clients, both pregnant and post partum.  During these meetings we discuss all types of topics that you likely wouldn't cover during a typical childbirth class. (Natural coping techniques and tools, the power of affirmations, etc.)

Our experience with Danielle was absolutely amazing!! My husband and I moved to Omaha 2 months before the birth of our daughter and I knew I wanted to have an unmedicated natural birth and a doula. I found Danielle online, had an interview with her and immediately felt a sense of comfort with her. She has the incredible ability to make one feel at ease and calm, which is a necessity during the labor! Danielle met with my husband and I a few weeks before I went into labor to go over our birth plan, discuss different stages of labor, and demonstrate different relaxation techniques. She was available if I had any questions at all, especially since I was a first time mom!

The night I went into labor, Danielle came to our house in the early morning around 4:45am. Our lil girl was sunny side up which was causing a lot of lower back pain, so Danielle got me to try a few different positions to get her to turn and they worked! Danielle was with me every step of the way during every contraction and really helped me to relax and breath through each one! When things got tough during labor she would reassure me that my body was doing exactly what it was suppose to do which kept fear from creeping in. When I felt like I couldn't make it through the contractions anymore she encouraged me and reminded me of how strong I was! When our daughter was delivered, Danielle took pictures with our camera and would give me sips of water in between pushing (which helped tremendously!). Overall, I would recommend Danielle to anyone looking to have a doula!! Having her with me during the entire labor process helped me have the natural birth that I always wanted! I don't know how women do it without a doula honestly and when I have another child I will definitely have a doula again!!

My husband and I had experienced 4 losses. I am an experienced mom with 4 unmedicated births before this. Danielle stepped up and showed me she would be there. She was going to walk me through my pregnancy that was difficult after having losses. Also early to find out surprise, we were having twins. We were excited and NOW double afraid something would happen. Our doctor, now sent to high-risk doctor, was beyond overbooked and even though we loved him could never just talk and sit down to talk about fears or concerns. Danielle was there and able to guide us. Then guide us to when we really needed to bring it up with our doctor. Danielle was warm caring and like a very close friend I could talk to. We built up a plan and she supported that. Helped informed and got us to ask the questions we needed to know. We ended up with a frank breech baby A (baby A is the lowest) and a transverse breech baby B. We were knowingly headed for a cesarean birth. She gave us information on how to encourage the babies to turn to birth position. Which we tried everything and we just had stubborn babies. She worked on pain relief since I was having a killer sciatic nerve….I can’t even begin to explain how much this all helped and got me through. She was there for the birth that was a cesarean. I am so glad she teamed up with my husband and was also able to calm him. We even hired her to do placenta encapsulation. With each and every baby I have had I was horribly depressed after. I also had milk supply issues. The placenta encapsulation she did prevented the depression and I had MORE than enough milk for my twins. I have seen her abilities and it still blows me away. She has so many things she can offer that you can benefit from as little or as much doula support as you may need. Or placenta encapsulation, henna, belly casting or dancing for birth. It is all amazing and worth it! There are really no words that can describe how amazing she is! We highly recommend her!
