Justine and Ale supported us for both of my pregnancies and deliveries (both vaginal with an epidural). The first in 2020 and Justine joined us virtually due to Covid restrictions and the second this year where she was able to join us at the hospital.
Ale was a huge help with spinning babies techniques providing pain relief during pregnancy and labor. She really took the time to help my husband understand the correct technique and problem solved with us on solutions for managing my pelvic and tailbone pain.
Justine is incredibly talented and a master doula. She’s one of those people who has an unique gift for the world and helping mamas, babies and their families pre-natal, through labor and delivery, and post-natal is her gift to all of us. Justine was always available to non judgmentally discuss our birthing options and preferences. My labor and delivery experiences were beautiful with both babies and that was due to Justine’s guidance and support. With my second baby, I was even able to catch her with an epidural based on the position Justine had me in!
Justine is highly respected by the Allina medical staff. I knew she was based on my first birth when she joined virtually and the nurses and even OB were consulting her for positions and next steps via my computer screen! It was even more obvious in my second birth when she was allowed in the OR with me after delivering my daughter for an emergency D&C. A testament to how much she is respected in the industry. She kept me informed and calm during the surgery and was constantly updating my husband on how things were going to lessen his anxiety. I can’t imagine what that would have been like for me and my family if Justine wasn’t there. Justine doesn’t just think of how to support you in your birth but your whole family through the entire experience of child birth.
Best Doulas Ever
Working with Justine and Midwest doulas was the best pregnancy and labor experience I could have asked for. Being a first time mom, I was super nervous and uninformed about pregnancy and labor. Justine was super educational and professional yet so approachable! It felt like I had known her for years even after only a couple of Zoom calls and a few hours of labor.
My labor didn’t go according to my plan and Justine helped ease a lot of that anxiety! My doctor got Covid conveniently the same week as I went into labor. It was really nice to have someone there who I had worked with before, who knew my desires and who I trusted. I felt safe. Everything that she was recommending was for my good and for my better. She was on my side!!!! It wasn’t the easy way out, but it was what I asked for. She helped me have the confidence to get through it! In that moment, she was my rock! Even my over protective husband was very confident with Justine in the room. We felt safe in the knowledge that nobody was going to take advantage of us.
I did it! I birthed my first baby with no epidural!
I would recommend Midwest Doulas to every single one of my friends and family members. It was a great experience and I will definitely be hiring Midwest Doulas again for the rest of my pregnancies and labors! 100/10 I would recommend!
As a guy, I was very skeptical at first when my wife said she wanted to have a Doula for our first pregnancy. I felt like we were pretty well educated about the process going into our last weeks of pregnancy. That being said, after almost a full 24 hours of false labor total in the last 2 weeks of the pregnancy I was really glad to have someone who spends a lot of time at births to consult with on what to expect and what was normal or not.
When the time finally did come, Justine did a fantastic job during the delivery at helping to keep things moving, managing our expectations, and giving me ideas to keep me involved and useful at supporting my wife through the delivery. She was able to advocate for us to the birth center staff which freed me up to focus on my wife and what she needed. She was very encouraging and helped to cultivate that kind of atmosphere with the rest of the staff while we were in the middle of labor. Having Justine to rely on was very valuable and very much worth it for a smooth and much less stressful birth experience. We also just had our 2nd Child and she was just great then too! I would recommend her to anyone but especially think having a doula is worthwhile if its your first birth experience. We also just had our 2nd Child and she was just as great then too! It was just over so quickly she had less time to do her thing ha. Thankfully for my wife though. ????
Justine and her staff were absolutely amazing. I cannot recommend their care enough! I learned so much through their advocacy and informed consent that I wish I had known about Midwest Doulas during my first pregnancy and child birth. If you're looking for an alternative or an addition to your birthing team, this is the group to be with! Justine will set you up for success and no matter what happens, she'll leave you feeling proud of your birth.
Hiring Midwest Doulas was by far the best decision we made during pregnancy! Justine was recommend to my husband and I by a friend and after meeting her, we knew she was the doula for us too. She is warm, encouraging, knowledgeable, and assertive -- just the kind of person I wanted by my side while giving birth. Knowing she was going to be there for me during the birth gave me a lot of comfort during pregnancy. Once she arrived during labor, I honestly think she made my labor go faster. She suggested a lot of positions to keep things moving, really helped me cope with the contractions, and reassured me that everything that was happening was totally normal. I would never want to give birth without her!
I cannot put into words how much I truly enjoyed working with Midwest Doulas and having Justine at my birth. My birth experience would have went an entirely different way if it wasn't for Justine being there to support me. From the moment I met Justine I felt more confident in every decision I was making and she was there to answer every question I had with this being my first baby. Truly thankful for everything and the friendship gained.
We loved working with Justine! When looking for a doula, we interviewed a number of people. Justine stood out to us with her friendliness, professionalism, and all around awesome attitude. Every time we met with Justine, we felt even more positive about our decision to not only have a doula on our birth team, but also that we hired Justine. She was great about being in touch, sharing resources, and discussing and understanding our wishes for the birth of our daughter. We also really liked that Staci was available as the backup, and that they both work as a team to be informed about their clients. On our daughter's birth day, Justine was amazing at keeping me and my husband calm and present, and made sure that both of our needs were being met. Justine sat with me while I rested and my husband went to get something to eat before the birth. During the birth, Justine kept me motivated, and helped my husband feel confident about supporting me. We had an amazing birth, and loved her support throughout. We could have done it without a doula, but we're glad we didn't! Now, postpartum, she has been great about lactation tips, and keeping in touch to make sure we're doing well. We recommend Justine 100%!
I am so happy my husband and I made the decision to hire a doula for our birth, but even more so that I found Justine and Midwest Doulas! Justine is extremely personable and knowlegable and was always ready to provide me with more information and resources whenever needed. She was very patient with my husband and I and supported the decisions we chose for our birth without judgment or adversity. Simply having her there for support and guidance during our birth made a world of a difference to both of us. Throughout my entire birth, Justine stood by my side, but never replaced or took over the role of my husband, which was important, as he wanted to be actively involved. Justine really takes the time to listen to your needs and gets to know YOU and whatever support people you chose to have participate in your birth. Justive made me less nervous about birth and more confident that I could have the birth I wanted...and I did!
Thank you SO much for everything Justine! =)

My son just turned six month and looking back to the moments of his birth, having just as my doula was the greatest things that happened at during my labor and the delivery. My husband and I was were both completely unexperienced with birth since we didn’t have any kid before. We felt unprepared and nervous about everything that was related to the birth. And then we got to know Justine. From the first day we connected with her, she was able to give us the assurance that everything will be fine. She shared her personal experience with us, and it was clear to us that she knew what she was talking about. With her assistance, we planned everything for the D day. Two week before the expected delivery day, I broke my waters with no warning signs and the labor started right away. Neither my husband nor I were prepared for that, at that moment. He was lost, he didn’t know what to do. He called 911 and after making sure that I was at the hospital, he called Justine. Justine came at the birth center in less than one hour and, she really assisted me at each single second. She knew at each instant what I needed and what could help facilitate my labor. She encouraged my husband and was continuously present without being invasive. Would Justine there, I am not sure if I would have the same great birth experience, even with another doula. Even after the birth, Justine kept offering her experienced help to make sure that both Baby, Dad and I are fine. She visited us at the hospital and a home and gave us some pieces of advice that we are still using today to with our son. We are a happy family, and Justine has something to do with that. Thank you Justine.
For us and for me, it was a great help having Justine with us, first because she is our friend but also because she has done a great Doula work being there when needed and able to phase out at the right time.
She has been very helpful in explaining all the steps and options we had as it has unfortunately been a very long process for us.
She has been a wonderful support for us and we cannot thank her enough for all she has done for us.
To whom it may concern,
My experience with having Justine as my doula was phenomenal. She helped me to experience my first birth with easy and confidence. Justine took the time to walk me through what my labor could be and answered all of my questions. She never judged my choices for my pregnancy or labor and made sure I had all the facts before making a decision.
It was not only extremely helpful for myself to have Justine guiding me, but also my family. Her confidence and friendly personality really set an ease for the rest of my family. She made sure that we were happy with our birth plan and prepared everyone who was involved.
All in all I'm extremely happy with how my first child labor turned out and I can only thank Justine. I would highly recommend Justine to any pregnant women and would love to have her involved in any future labors of my own.
Working with Justine throughout my pregnancy was a complete joy! Her level of professtionalism along with her caring and outgoing personality made the whole experience magical. Having her there during my birth was a god send. Im not sure how I could do it without her. She supported and guided me and my husband, Larry was so thankful that she was there to help him understand the process and to let me know that everything was ok and to help me go through a beautiful, unmedicated birth. Thank you Justine from the bottom of our hearts and see you at our next birth. Baby Albert is happy to be one of your Doula Babies! May the light in me honor the light in you. Peace. FYI. I love you!
Working with Justine as our Doula was an amazing experience! I highly recommend her services. She was well educated, informed on all birthing questions I had, and was a big comfort. My husband and I both felt really connected with her and she valued our birth plan. Justine became our friend through this experience. She was my advocate and a huge help in the delivery room. Now as a new mom I can still connect with her with any questions. Justine was a great Doula and I plan on having her by my side for our next child!!
When my husband and I met Justine, her warm, professional, and passionate personality made us want to interview her right away. We coud not have made a better choice in working with her. Our labor ended with a healthy baby and a healthy mom, for which we are so grateful, but it was nothing like we'd imagined: we went from hoping for a water birth to induction to a failed vacuum extraction and eventually to a C-section.
It was all unexpected and quick, and it would have been much more traumatic if we hadn't had Justine. She prepared us well in our prenatal appointments to be flexible in labor, and she always made sure that our priority was to be comfortable with the decisions we made while in labor. Because of this preparation and in spite of the "dream labor" we had in mind, we were able to own all of the decisions we made, and there is no grief for the vaginal birth that might have been. During and after the labor itself, she was a source of endless comfort and steadiness for both my husband and me.
Justine was a key member of our labor team, and my husband and I will be forever grateful that she was present with us during our son's birth. We highly, highly recommend her.
