I gave birth to my first child, a beautiful baby girl at the end of June this year. I moved to the Yakima area in February and started searching for midwives and labor support for my home birth. I found Highland Midwives and Janelle and felt so lucky to have found such caring and supportive people to assist me during my pregnancy, birth and postpartum care.

Immediately I felt comfortable with Janelle and felt so much more secure in my decision to have a natural birth at home. Janelle showed up immediately for my labor and was there preparing my home and my team for the birth. My labor was fairly short and honestly most of it was a blur, but I could feel Janelle's presence and heard her encouragement throughout the labor. After the labor (when I became more coherent), Janelle made sure my baby and I were comfortable, made me an amazing cup of tea, and assisted in my first breastfeeding. Her lactation support allowed my little one to latch on and we have had no issues since!

She encouraged me to stop by her shop the Nest and participate in the classes she offers. I have been, and continue to go to the breastfeeding support group. It is a chance to meet other mothers and get tips and advice from Janelle. Her knowledge is evident when she is assisting and offering guidance to new moms. I am fortunate to have witnessed a woman who was having trouble with breastfeeding and was told to supplement with formula because she did not have enough milk. With Janelle's guidance the woman had her baby happily feeding from her ample supply in minutes. It was an amazing moment to have seen such happiness and what can be done with loving support.

I could not have asked for a better birth experience with Janelle who was lovingly there for me throughout my journey. I highly recommend Janelle's services for labor support, she is extremely knowledgeable, kind-hearted and is an amazing person to help welcome your new baby to the world!

I absolutely love Janelle!

I felt comfortable with Janelle within moments of meeting her. I am so happy she was there for my labor and birth. Her calm demeanor and reassuring presence were invaluable. She has a passion for mamas and birth that is evident in her work. I really enjoyed my experience with her (three days of hard labor!) Her encouragement during my pushing phase that lasted over two and a half hours was indispensable. She worked wonderfully with my husband and mom, helping them to better support me. My husband and mom both enjoyed Janelle and felt very comfortable with her. Janelle fed me and helped keep me hydrated as I labored in my birth pool and reminded my team to do the same; something absolutely vital to keeping up my energy for my marathon labor. Janelle's encouragement and reminders of my end goal were exceptionally helpful when it felt like progress was slow and I was feeling discouraged.

Janelle has been an amazing resource in my difficult breastfeeding journey and continues to be a crucial part of my support team.

Janelle also wrote out my birth story from her point of view to my son, a thoughtful, wonderful, gift that I will read over and over again and can’t wait to share with my son.

We would choose Janelle all over again, without a doubt. As a birth doula myself I couldn’t be happier or imagine anyone else in her place. She is a wonderful, genuine, person who is extraordinary at what she does.

My experience with Janelle is truly unforgettable. I am so grateful she was with me for this pregnancy. Her support is sincere and really meant alot to me and my family. Especially when I needed her the most, during labor her support helped me stay calm. I trust Janelle. Especially after she helped me delivery my nine pound baby girl right before the midwives arrived. She talked me through it, gave me her shoulder to lean on when I didnt have one. Gosh I cant express enough how happy I am of how my labor and delivery went. And it was thanks to Janelle! When my baby's shoulders got stuck, she knew exactly what to do and didnt waste any time. I had my baby within a minute or two. It was quick thanks to her intelligence! And I will forever be so grateful Janelle was part of life.

Janelle also encapsulated my placenta! Which I had no idea this even existed but so glad I had her get me my pills for a good affordable price. I had postpartum depression with my previous two pregnancies so taking these pills have really helped me not reach that point again. So I thank her for this as well.

In addition, she also somehow dried and spelled love with my daughter's umbilical cord (which by the way had a knot, that's how she was born, with her cord in a knot!) And gave it to us in a cute gift box :) with a letter she wrote to my baby of our experience on how she was born. That letter is beautiful, touches my heart each time I read it. I've created a bond with Janelle and I hope we will stay in touch..I give her services 100% and her support a true blessing.
