Relevant volunteer or advocacy work

I have put together a VBAC Matters support group hosted at Birth Matters in OKC. I was an attendee to the 2015 VBAC Facts Seminar. Serving VBAC women is a passion of mine since fighting for my own VBAC over 10 years ago. I've since had 5 VBAC's. If you chose not to abort your baby after making an appointment to do so, I will consider free doula services. Although, my faith is the forefront of my life and I love to utilize this faith during a moms birthing time by praying and reading scriptures, I do not require a mom to be of a certain faith nor do I read scriptures at births where I'm not asked to first.. I've supported Hindu, atheist, and Jewish women with pleasure.

When my husband and I met Crystal, we both instantly felt comfortable in her presence and asked if she would be our doula.  I am so thankful we did.  From the beginning she provided us with helpful information about pregnancy and birth, always responding quickly to any questions we had.  Crystal is a great communicator.  She stayed in contact throughout our pregnancy and was always very punctual to our appointments.  Once labor began, Crystal came to our house until it was time to go to the hospital.  She provided amazing support to me thoughout the labor, tailoring her techniques to what was helping me at each stage of labor.  She also reassured my husband and provided ideas on how he could help me best.  Once arriving to the hospital, Crystal continued to help me stay as comfortable and relaxed as possible, all the while tastefully photographing this special day.  We truly had the most positive and empowering natural birth experience, and we cannot thank her enough for helping make that once in a lifetime moment ideal.

I had my baby this past week with Crystal as my doula and she was amazing! She helped me attain the vbac that I truly desperately wanted and if she wouldn't of been there I probably would of ended up in a cesarean due to long labor and a difficult hospital environment. She was the helping hand, the database of info, and the encouraging voice that helped me fight for what I wanted so if your looking for a great doula this is the girl you want! Thank you Crystal Wright!

My husband and I couldn't be more happy that we chose to hire a Doula, and that we had Crystal Wright in our corner. From the moment we met Crystal she provided research articles, firsthand experience stories, and lots of encouragemen. She was determined to help us have the best birth possible and that was evident throughout our labor and delivery. She gave us suggestions to help with my comfort, played an active role in minimizing pain, and reminded us of our choices/options/rights as needed. We felt we had a true advocate on our side and to us that service was priceless. All that to say, we would definitely recommend Crystal to anyone interested in hiring a Doula.

Crystal was a God-send! I was late hiring a doula and she made time to be flexible to meet me and be available when I needed her. I developed Pre-Clampsia at 35 1/2 weeks and was induced but still wanted to deliver natutally and unmedicated. She was sensitive to my husband's and my wishes as well as kept us thinking about all our options. Crystal jumped in without being asked and always did or said the right thing. The affirmations and calm reassurances were exactly what we needed. She coached my husband and even my nurse responded to what Crystal suggested. My doctor was even surprised that I kept calm enough between the pains and high blood pressure that I didn't have to have an epidural.

The night before they induced they gave me drugs to prepare my cervix. Cramps from hell insued and at about 2 am my husband called her and she came to the hospital to help. It seems so silly now that we called her for cramps. But I'm so glad she came anyways. : ) When they induced in the morning the contractions hit fast and hard. She was there every step of the way and I know that I could not have done it (unmedicated) without her. From recommneding various positions, using the peanut ball, massage, and helping me concentrate on breathing and relaxing she made the perfect addition to my birthing experience.

After my baby was born she was attentive to my questions and offered advice about breastfeeding and sleeping. I appreciated that she stayed in touch even after he was born and a couple of weeks old.

P.S. I don't think I'll ever forget her peeking her head in the bathroom and whispering (the nurses didn't want me in there at all) that I should stay in there as long as possible because the toilet made for a great suatting position. The 'dialation station"

Thank you Crystal!! I wish I had you for my first delievery. But I know you'll be there for #3 whenever that is. ; )

Having Crystal as my birth doula was truly a blessing. Crystal stayed by my side providing physical comfort, praise, encouragement, direction as needed, and complete trust in my body and my ability to bring my baby into the world. Crystal helped me by reading my birth affirmations, providing water, helping my two year be involved in the experience, rubbing essential oils on me, reminding me to take deep breaths, etc. Crystal is a fantastic Doula and I would  highly recommend her to anyone who asked me who they should hire.

I enjoyed having Crystal as one of my two doulas. I liked Crystal as a person and I believe we connected well. She was available to answer any questions I had, and even met with me at a couple of my appointments with the midwife during my pregnancy. She seemed very knowledgeable about different issues related to pregnancy and birth. As soon as I was ready to have her with me during labor, she was there. She has different tools and techniques that she has learned to help a mom in labor and she was very helpful to me. Her voice was soothing and calm, and she was very encouraging as I labored. She worked well with my other doula even though they hadn't previously met, and she also worked well with my husband. She was able to answer any questions my husband had and give him ideas how to help me during a labor. I appreciate having had her by my side during one of the most important times in my life. I would definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a doula

Crystal was an amazing doula for my 2nd VBAC. She helped me prepare for the birth by sharing relevant and evidence-based articles, which guided me in finalizing my birth plan. She was always available and quick to respond whenever I texted or called. She attended one of my prenatal visits with me and met me on two other occasions before the birth to visit about my plans and goals. Crystal was encouraging and informative during early labor. With her help and support I was able to give birth to a healthy baby girl naturally. And I would do it again with her by my side.

I had a fantastic experience with Crystal. She was my backup Doula and when my primary DOil's got sick she stepped in. She was incredibly helpful and responsive for my week of pre-labor and was highly supportive of my decision to VBAC. During my short labor at the hospital she read relaxation exercises and scripture to keep my grounded. I am so glad Crystal was part of my experience and would recommend her to anyone!

I became interested in finding a doula when I became pregnant with my second baby. I had a previous natural birth that went well, but I knew that it could be much better with additional emotional support. I heard positive things about the doula connections at Birth Matters and was excited to learn more about how a doula could improve my experience. Crystal was the first doula that I met with and I knew from the positive things that I had written down that she was a good match for me even before meeting with the other doulas. I went into that day with a lot of apprehension about how my experience could actually be improved, but left with so much more confidence based on the information Crystal provided to me. I called my mom right away to tell her about how my fear had changed to excitement! Crystal and I met several times leading up to my daughter's birth and each time I felt more at ease. She had resources and information for all questions that I brought up throughout this time and would check in with me all along to make sure that I was taking care of myself. She also recommended Hypnobabies to me and the home study program was great because it kept me focused and made me take time each day to relax and practice the techniques. With a 2 1/2 year old son, I wouldn't have made relaxation a priority otherwise.  I cannot say enough positive things about Crystal's supporty while I was in labor. She somehow knew exactly what I needed mentally and physically without me being able to put into words what I needed. My husband and mom were also extremely thankful for her support. She helped to keep them involved and they felt much more useful with her direction than they had during my previous labor & delivery. I know that I could have found my way through as I had with my previous natural birth, but looking back, I would never choose a birth without having Crystal there! I wish I had more space to share all of the positives of having Crystal as my doula!

Crystal is an amazing doula!! She gave me a lot of great information that helped me decide what I wanted to include in my birth plan. Crystal was there for me through my entire labor and delivery, she helped me stay focused as well as kept reminding me to relax. She even got my husband involved once we were at the hospital. After 6 hours baby Stiles was born! I cannot thank Crystal enough for being there for me and helping me achieve the natural birth that I wanted.
