Brandi was my doula for my first born child. She was very respectful of my wishes and went out of her way to make sure I was happy and comfortable. I was in preterm labor (which felt like real labor) for three days. She stayed there by me making sure I had everything I needed. She brought me lunch and even arranged a massage for me. When I finally had my baby she was scheduled to fly out of town in the early morning. She came into the hospital to help me in my delivery at midnight and left soon after my baby was born at 2:45 am. I would recommend Brandi to anyone looking for a doula. She is great!!
Brandi was such a blessing for the birth of my 2nd baby. She made sure I knew all my options when creating my birthplan, took time to get to know me and my husband, and just exactly what I wanted for this labor. Throughout my pregnancy she checked in, reminded me of different exercises and relaxation techniques to practice, and kept me motivated when I was exhausted with my almost 2 year old and rather big belly. As my due date came closer she reminded me of all different natural ways to induce labor. As my due date came and went she reminded me of how much healthier my baby would be, always being motivating and encouraging! She continuously looked for natural labor induction techniques as she knew that was what I wanted.
The day I had my daughter she was in constant communication with me. She listened as I explained my back pain and explained what that could mean and gave me exercises to get the baby into a better position for labor, warning me that once baby was ready, he or she may come VERY fast. She was right! I practiced relaxation techniques as I labored and she kept reminding me I had to make the call on if she should come support me at home. I ended up having the baby on the side of the road as my contractions became regular very quickly and by the time I was out the door they were 2.5 minutes apart. While she wasn't able to be there for the birth, she was so supportive before, during, and after! She made sure that I was getting the type of care I wanted for me and my baby at the hospital and followed up with me later to make sure we were doing well, and of course hold baby Ruth!
I cannot thank her enough for all the support she gave me and all the different exercises she introduced me to. I truly believe had I not had her as my doula, I would not have been so prepared for the labor and delivery of my daughter! If you are looking for a caring, informative, passionate doula, GET BRANDI!
Brandi was a huge blessing to my 4th child's home birth. I was a week over due when early labor signs began. She came over and sat in my living room and quietly knit and visited. This quiet company she provided me while I washed my floor and awaited my daughter's birth is one of my favorite birth memories.
Brandi worked very well beside my birth team. She captured beautiful birth photos without disrupting my midwife or her assistant caring for me. She was also very patient and helpful with my sometimes overwhelming friends and family who were in attendance. This was another "big deal" for me. I wanted my mom, sister and best friend there, but it was helpful to have Brandi there to thoughtfully contain and reassure them!
The final touch was the newborn photography Brandi provided. I never had any idea such service existed. She came to my house and photographed my daughter in my bedroom. She thoughtfully warmed the blankets and captured the most beautiful special newborn portraits. My only regret is that I don't have the same beautiful newborn portraits of my older kids!
Brandi Spray assisted me as a doula and photographer in my last pregnancy. She took extra time out of her day to meet with me. She went to the hospital with me when I thought I was in labor the first time and spend many hours trying to get my labor going by walking. She talked to me on the phone and helped me breath until we got to the hospital and meet us there. She was great support, calming and encouraging!!! She knew what I wanted in my birth plan and could speak up when I couldn't! She helped my husband in supporting me! She was also able to capture memories with her camera that I will hold dear to my heart! Memories I didn't think I wanted until I started looking through them and realizing how precious they are! Highly recommended!!!!!
I appreciated all the knowledge and expertise Brandi had to offer for my first birth. When I became pregnant the second time, she was the first person I told (aside from my husband). It was great knowing I had someone who supported me and my decisions 100%. I would definitely recommend her.
I asked Brandi to photograph my home birth, and she was very excited to do so. As a professional photographer myself, I knew the importance of capturing the moment and I knew I needed someone who had experience with attending births, and I thought that Brandi would be perfect. I was right! My labor was short and quick, so by the time I texted her I knew there wouldn't be much time until the birth. She came over right away, even though it was around midnight. In fact, she arrived at the same time as my midwife. They were both there for less than an hour before my daughter was born. I gave birth in our bathtub. The bathroom was crowded and the lights were dimmed, so I knew Brandi had her work cut out for her with taking photos. She was very respectful of everyone, including the midwife and her assistant. She helped out when needed, but stayed out of the way if needed. I hardly noticed her quietly capturing the whole experience behind her camera. She stayed for a bit after the birth, and captured some great images of my husband and I really getting to meet our daughter for the first time. I was very happy with the photos when she gave me the disk soon after the birth. She did a great job with the poor lighting and tight space, and captured the feel and experience of the birth perfectly. I only wish she had been there to photograph my older 3 daughters' births!
Brandi helped us with birthing for our third baby. I am so happy we had her and will never birth without a doula again! Brandi made the whole labor and birth process better from the minute she came over (right away in very early labor). She was reassuring, calm, helpful, and professional the entire time. She made us feel totally comfortable with her even though we had only met recently; she has a trustworthy and serene personality that was wonderful during potential stress moments. I felt like Brandi was personalizing her services based on what she could tell we needed (or asked), and kept adapting smoothly to changes/progression over the 2-day "marathon." She was so dedicated to supporting me in exactly the ways I needed during labor. Plus, Brandi was also a lifesaver for my husband because of how demanding a laboring mother can be; sometimes the demands and the intensity of labor are more than dads (or grandmas/aunties) can handle without getting worn out. Brandi had endurance the whole time to keep supporting us and doing everything possible to make our birth amazing! She went above and beyond our expectations with a cheerful and encouraging attitude the whole time. She also took priceless photos of our labor/birth which was the icing on the doula cake. I am 100% satisfied and so glad Brandi was our doula. Thank you, Brandi!
