As this was my second birth, I really wanted the experience to be a drastic improvement from my first. I felt overwhelmed and undersupported by the hospital staff with differing advice and a hands off approach. They also medically intervened with myself and my baby without permission which I am still really dissapointed and frustrated about. I knew for my second birth that I would have to take action to surround myself with the right people for the support I needed. The first phone calls were of course placing myself on every midwife waiting list in the city, followed by the search for the perfect Doula. Honestly as soon as she walked in my home, I new Jennifer Wilson was the perfect match. Her calm, sensitive, professional approach was so refreshing. I could sense right away that she truely respected women, babies and birth. She also made it crystal clear that she would be supporting my husband and our relationship through this amazing experience which was I wasn't expecting and was so greatful for. We met several times in our home to talk about our birth plan, labouring, and all of the typical topics a doula would cover but it was all of the extras that I loved. I wanted to embrace the sacredness of birth and she was well equiped to guide us on that journey. She recommended a pregnacy retreat, which was amazing. My husband and I spent an evening with her working through our hopes and worries which was one of the most memorable and helpful aspects of her services. I also LOVED the belly henna that she drew for me, it was so beautiful. I felt educated and preppared for labour and managed the pain with the tools she equipt me with, which of course is HUGE part of birth. I could write on and on about what a lovely and respectful person Jennifer is. I feel thankful that we could share this time together and I would reccomend her endlessly. xo

"Jenn, was an amazing support through my pregnancy, labor, and after. At one point I even told my partner to move out of the way so Jenn could stand beside me. haha! I can't even imagine what this process would have been like without her. Thanks so much Jenn!"

The 2000 character limit isn't enough to really describe everything Jennifer has done for me and my family, but I'll try. Jenn was an amazing source of support throughout my pregnancy. She visited us in our home on roughly the same schedule as I saw my doctor, and at each visit took a lot of time to discuss how everything was going both physically and emotionally. During this time, she also helped us become informed about birth choices and develop an ideal birth plan, while always emphasizing that she would support any choice I made. This was so valuable, as this was a type of care I simply didn't receive from my physician, who I never saw for more than 5 min at a time. I started out quite anxious about pregnancy and childbirth, and being able to turn to Jenn really helped me feel more positive about things. I felt like I was being cared for by somebody with a great deal of knowledge about what I was going through, and who truly wanted the best for me.

During labour and delivery, Jenn was there for my husband and I every step of the way. With her special skill set and knowledge base (eg. aromatherapy, reflexology), she helped me labour at home for as long as I could stand it and avoid unwanted medical intervention. I spent only about 4 hrs of my 32hr labour in the hospital, and gave birth to my beautiful baby boy without any pain meds or other interventions. With her calm and caring demeanor, Jenn made me feel safe and confident through some of the scariest, most physically painful moments of my life. She also offered guidance to my husband, encouraging him to be involved and showing him great techniques to help me through labour. I felt extremely well cared for!

Jenn has continued to offer her support since my son was born, and I love knowing that she is available if I need somebody to turn to if I am struggling. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a doula. I know I will be calling her again if we ever decide to have another child!

i was Pregnant! I had been trying for about 6 months and found out at 5 weeks! We were happy and felt like telling a few close friends. I called my cousin and she raved about her experience with Solstice Sunrise Doula. I thought about it and called Jenn a couple days later. She was very professional, full of great info and advice. She was professional and always returned my calls and txts very quickly.  She said she could be as involved as I wanted. Jenn was adamant about making sure that I could call anytime of day for any reason. About 8 weeks along I started to have some spotting. I wasn't sure if it was normal so I called her to talk about it. She told me that although spotting in early pregnancy can be normal, for peace of mind I could go get checked out by a Dr.. I did and was given a requisition for blood work and an ultrasound. I called Jenn to tell her and she offered to come with me. My husband had to work so I accepted her offer. At the ultrasound the tech told us that my baby only measured 5 1/2 weeks and they couldn't find a heart beat. I had been spotting quite a lot by then. I wasn't feeling up to it so Jenn asked if she could drive me to get the blood work done. She was wonderful. She started to gently prepare me for the potential outcome of a miscarriage. I had a Dr. appt the next day to find out the results. She came with me to that appt too. The Dr. then told me what I had already felt, I had miscarried. Jenn was supportive, she brought me literature regarding my options, she was knowledgeable on what I was going through. I decided to have a home birth instead of the D and C at the hospital. She brought me herbs, and tea, and offered to stay with me. I had my Husband stay with me. She called and text often to make sure I was doing ok.

During a heartbreaking time in our lives, we couldn't have felt more cared for and emotionally supported, I wouldn't have wanted to go through that without her.
Thank you Jenn
-Megan H.
