I had a great experience with Sasah Kasko when I delivered my baby girl in December 2015. While things didn't go as planned and why I originally hired a doula, had to have a late planned c section due to breech birth, she gave us so much support and help that it made it invaluable. We also had issues nursing and Sasha has a wide array of resources that she got me in touch with a great lactation consultant. Sasha has the best calming personality that was such a great counterpoint to my husband and I. She kept everyone calm and comforted on a pretty stressful morning.
I highly recommend Sasha for anyone looking for a doula.
Our experience with Sasha was amazing. She genuinely cared about us and our baby. The way she served us at our birth as well as supported us before and after communicated this clearly to us. The prenatal vists were very useful to my husband and I because I am a checklist person and Sasha was able to help me have peace of mind by making sure we were ready to go (providing birth plan resources and advice on what to have ready to go to hospital and for recovery upon return). We were able to call her when we had questions about if labor was starting (as this was our first baby) and I called on her for assistance with some of my breast feeding questions in the weeks following birth. In both instances she was very knowledgeable and well connected (she could recommend resources/individuals for additional support, such as lactation consultants). We appreciated that Sasha asked us how we wanted her to help us at our birth and did just that: suggesting a new position, providing back up for my husband and encouraging us both. I got through four hours of pushing after transition with her assistance. Her post-natal visit was also very useful and it kept me from worrying about figuring everything out on my own knowing she was coming and I could run things by her. She was very supportive and we would hire her again with future births.
My husband and I would also highly recommend her cloth diapering class if you are interested in going that route with your baby. It kept us from ruining the cloth diapers we had just invested in by washing them with detergents that would have kept them from being absorbant. She also provided sample detergents, explained diaper fit, and presented other diapering methods. If you are looking to cloth diaper I would wait to buy anything till you speak to Sasha: she'll give you all the details on the spectrum of diapers so you can make the best decision for your family.
Sasha was very responsive from the beginning of our contact with her. She provided one consultation and two prenatal visits to our home. She let us lead the discussions with our own questions, and was able to provide thoughtful responses based on her experiences with other families. She was quick to settle any fears or reservations we had about the birthing process.
Sasha answered our phone calls from the moment we thought labor had started (we called her at 1am). She was excited with us and helped us talk through when would be the best time for her to join us. She constantly reminded us that we should call her with any questions or concerns before she was able to join us for the labor.
Sasha joined us in person right when we got to the hospital. She was such an important part of the labor. She was provided comfort and a soothing voice for when we both felt overwhelmed, or when we didn’t know what to do. She helped us transition into different positions, as well as suggest new positions that provided relief (the shower, side lying, etc). Sasha also provided physical relief from contractions by applying pressure to my lower back while my husband was able to coach me through. She was constantly getting me water, snacks, and informing waiting family members, which allowed my husband to stay with me at all times during the labor.
Probably the most important role Sasha played in the labor was helping me make the decision to get an epidural. My husband and I had planned an unmedicated birth, but the labor turned out to be long and I was starting to suffer. Sasha allowed me to bring up pain relief on my own and helped me make the decision to get an epidural. I had thought I would feel like a failure, or regret this decision later on, but Sasha’s encouragement and support has helped me to know that was the right decision.
Sasha was amazing. She exceeded our expectations and provided support we would not have wanted to be without.
Sasha was by far the best choice we could have ever made for the birth of our little girl. Not only was she knowledgeable about everything and anything when it comes to the birth of our child, but she was also the calmness in our ears while delivering our baby. Our natural birth wouldn't have occurred as well as it did without her. My husband and Sasha truly made a great team and were the best coaches a girl good have had without any pain meds! If you are looking for someone who supports holistic views and has a calm but quirky demeanor then look no further. Sasha is a wealth of knowledge, has a child of her own and is there to support you in whatever way you need before, during and after your child’s birth. Thanks Sasha! You left a little footprint on our hearts.
Working with Sasha was truly a blessing. Being from Europe I didn't know much about what the birthing experience in the US is like. At the first two visits with Sasha she walked us through everything we may encounter when in labor and discussed how we would feel about each item. She also showed us a couple of pain management techniques we could use while laboring at home.
On the night where I went in to labor Sasha was available from the get-go and guided us through the evening while we labored at home providing advice that helped us keep calm. She met us in the hospital where she continued providing great support all night. I was determined to try and go for a natural birth, but had to get an epidural in the morning after hours of severe contractions and no further dilation. Sasha was very supporting, and walked me through the process.
I think my favorite part from having Sasha attend our birth was that she throughout the entire experience continued to provide pain relief through massage. Even after the epidural, Sasha sat next to the bed massaging my legs and lower back. My labor lasted 28 hours, and Sasha was with us every step of the way.
My husband and I worked with Sasha for the birth of our first child and would highly recommend her. We met with Sasha twice before the birth to lay out our birth plan and learn more about labor. She went over positions for all stages of labor and different coping mechanisms for pain. When I went into labor she was available and gave excellent advice for moving the labor along naturally at home. Once we got to the hospital Sasha was so helpful and made me feel very comfortable and strong. I feel fortunate to have had such an amazing natural birth experience and believe I couldn't have done it without Sasha's attention to being prepared beforehand and of course her hands on approach during labor. Thank you, Sasha!
Working with Sasha was a great blessing. She is very knowledgeable about topics related to pregnacy and child birth and was was always available to to help when needed or to answer any questions we had. She is extremely patient and a great source of comfort and als great with the various exercises for pain reduction and a smooth delivery.
I highly recommend Sasha! My husband and I loved having her support during my pregnancy, labor, and post partum! She was an absolute wealth of information during my pregnancy. The prenatal appointmenta were very thorough and left me feeling confident and reminded me of questions I needed to ask my midwife! I went past my EDD and actually was in early labor on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Sasha was available for me the entire time and answered a ton of questions via text and phone calls those 2 days. I first went to the hospital Christmas night and ended up being sent home. She met us there that night and walked with me and oFfered encouragement when i was sent home. The next day she kept in touch with my husband telling him ways to comfort me and encourage active labor. She came to our house when contractions picked up and followed us to the hospital when it was time to go. Once admitTed and in active labor Sasha helped my husband with comfort techniques and I felt so taken care of! Sasha reminded me of all my goals and helped me relax and guided my husband so he could be an active part of my labor. When things started to take a turn away from what i had planned Sasha was there supporting me and reminding me of my options and what I wanted. She supported every decision I made. Even when I didn't get the VBAC i planned I still felt extremely happy and content and empowered with my birth experience. That is thanks to Sasha! There is no way I could have went 48+ hours med free in labor without her support. She stayed with me in recovery to give my husband a break to get some food and made sure with had Breastfeeding down. She returned the next day to pick up my placenta and she dropped the capsules off the night we returned home. She kept in touch making sure I was doing okay and we had a great post partum visit about 2 weeks pp.Sasha is grEat and I recommend her to everyone! My husband says we won't have another baby without her!
My husband and I HIGHLY recommend Sasha Kasko to anyone looking for a doula. We were grateful that even days before my due date she agreed to support us. I started to be induced after midnight on my due date. My husband kept Sasha informed of the progress through the night so that she could be rested to supoort us through the most difficult stages of the labor.
Sasha was very knowledgable, warm, sensitive, and had a natural intuition to meet my needs by making me more comfortable; suggesting different positions, positive words of encouragement, arouma therapy, and various massages. Her presence allowed my husband to relax and be there for me. He was more assured with her as a resource to him and to me. She helped us prepare for each step and even consider questions to ask our medical team. The delivery went very smooth and I believe her support was one significant factor.
I felt very comfortable with Sasha even after just meeting her days before. She also made a great impression on my midwife and nurses. (They requested her business card) I feel blessed to found a special friendship with her throughout the whole experience.
Sasha stayed with us as we settled into our recovery room. She helped me my first attempts to nurse our baby, which was very helpful! She followed up with us that evening and even the next day or two. We couldn't wait for her to come by our house a week later to see our little bundle again!
We are very thankful to have made the decision to invite a doula to support our labor and delivery of our baby boy - best decision for our baby's birth. We will definitely request her services in the future!
