Brittney was the perfect doula I was looking for: calm and relaxed, but highly knowledgable. I used her services for the November birth of my son (my first baby). She patiently answered lots of questions from my husband and myself during two prenatal visits. It's obvious she is very well-versed in childbirth, and especially in natural, drug-free childbirth, which is what I wanted. However, she never pushed any agenda on us, but was supportive of the birth experience we wanted, and helped prepare us for that. She was especially kind and helpful in putting my husband at ease, and helping him navigate through the whole process, and know how best to help me.

In the end, my labor went so fast that by the time I called her, she didn't get to be there for a whole lot, but she was excellent at helping me relax through the contractions and feel at ease. Unfortunately, one nurse at the hospital told her she couldn't come into delivery with me (we filed a formal complaint about this, as my OB was totally fine with her being there), but I know she would have done a fantastic job of helping me through pushing. She really went above and beyond, even went to one of my prenatal appointments to meet my OB and was very gracious in dealing with his different perspective. She came for an extra postnatal visit, to help me with breastfeeding problems. Her sweet, patient, laid-back nature makes her the perfect doula, in my opinion. She will work with you, and go above and beyond, to ensure you get the wonderful birth experience you envision, tailored specifically for you and your partner.

I am so glad to have had Brittney as my birth doula for the birth of our son! Brittney is extremely knowledgeable, professional, patient, and kind; and she was a tremendous help to my husband and me before, during, and after the birth.

When we were considering hiring a doula, I knew that I wanted someone who would help me to understand what was going on and to feel empowered to make good decisions about the birth process but who would not push a particular type of birth or philosophy; Brittney’s style was an excellent fit for what I wanted in my birth experience.

We met with Brittney before our son’s birth. She provided a lot of useful information and responded to our questions thoughtfully. She helped us formulate our birth plan and to feel as prepared as we could for the birth. Throughout the process, I appreciated that, rather than telling us what we should do, she explained the pros and cons of various decisions.

At the hospital, Brittney worked well with the nurses, my OB/GYN and my husband. I had decided to try to avoid pain medication, and Brittney helped me work through the pain. When I eventually did decide to get an epidural, though, Brittney was there with me through that process—and then through the pushing—as well.

Having Brittney there also helped my husband. He felt he could go take short breaks (bathroom, snacks, etc.) without feeling like he left me alone during the 18 hour process.

Brittney was available for post-partum. We talked through some issues I was having with breastfeeding, and she helped connect me to resources.

I am very happy about my birth experience and am so thankful to Brittney for being a part of it.
