Jenny

This is was our third baby. First baby born vaginally, second - csection due to placenta previa, third (with Jen) was a successful vbac no epidural. Jen provided  amazing support throughout my entire pregnancy. She helped us maintain my pregnancy for as long as possible with support through herbal tea‘s. She remained available for any questions and promptly responded. When labor began we let her know and she joined us at the hospital. This was about the time when things started getting difficult to manage and she knew exactly what to do and say. She remained calm and brought so much peace into the room.  I knew I did not want an epidural but I was afraid of tearing and the repair afterwards. She remains by our side held my hand through the repair and was very helpful in keeping baby In my arms the entire time. She educated us in birthing and what to experience in a hospital but also didn’t question our decisions. She’s just amazing and I can’t say that enough. Postpartum she visited twice and again was so helpful with aftercare for me and baby. I’d definitely hire her again should we have another! ??

We hired Jen as our doula for the birth of our first child in February. I can say with complete certainty that it was one of the best decisions we've ever made. Jen is a passionate professional with years of experience. Every part of the process, from the prenatal and postpartum visits to the birthing process itself, was excellent! Her calm, intense demeanor was exactly what I needed to make it through the process of a natural birth. We definitely would not have been able to do it without her. She was able to draw from an extensive array of comforting techniques that worked in even the most difficult times of labor. She was also a great asset in making sure my husband could be as 'hands-on' as possible. I really cannot recommed Jen enough!

I received Jen’s care when I went into labor when my midwife was not available. Even though I hadn’t worked with Jen my whole pregnancy, I immediately felt comfortable with her. The day I went into labor, Jen constantly stayed in contact with me, giving me support, guidance and so much information. During my homebirth, Jen was incredible. She was everything I needed her to be. I was able to do things my way with her gentle guidance. I felt so comforted knowing she was there. When I thought I couldn’t go on, she  helped me realize I could. She was so patient and knowledgable. She even took the time to lay out my placenta and explain it to my children. Jen also came back for a couple of follow up visits. She was so thorough, comforting...basically, she is amazing in every way and I can not recommend her enough.

Jen is the reason that all my birth dreams (if such a thing existed) came true. We were unsure about how a doula’s could possibly help us, a couple who has the support/craziness of a big IndIan family with 2 very helpful matriarchs plus great grandmas! Who needs another birth coach right? WRONG! Jen counseled ya through our fears and anxiety of having a first child, wanting a LOT of things to go “right” and what to do when they don’t go that way And EVERYTHING in between. She not only has excellent technical ability but a personality and heart of gold. One that soothes your pregnant soul. And I know there are a lot of births that don’t go as planned even with everyone’s support plus an awesome doula...but to be honest we owe our picture perfect birth all to Jen. Even all the women in my family who have done this a dozen times were bowing at her feet and couldn’t talk about her enough.  We don’t even live in STL but will be back (or fly Jen out to NC!) for a future number 2 for sure! Jen, you were born to doula! We love you ??

As a birth photographer, I've witnessed Jen in action on numerous occasions, as well as having her in attendence at my own daughter's birth. Time and again, I see Jen hone in on exactly what each individual mama needs during their birth journey and meet them exactly where they are with the precise support that they require - whether that be hands-on physical support, choices to feel informed and empowered, or emotional support to make it through one more contraction. She is an incredible presence of calm, confident wisdom in the birth space and brings strength, courage, and peace to each of the families that she serves. When necessary, she asks tough questions and empowers parents to make their own informed choices for their birth experience. Throughout the entire birth journey, she is an invaluable source of knowledge, wisdom, warmth, and kindness for the families she serves. If you have even an ounce of doubt about whether to hire her, let me assuage that by saying that she is one of the most important investments you can make in your once-in-a-lifetime birth experience.

I truly feel that I could write a book about all the ways I am thankful for having Jen as our doula. She is an incredible soul. She exudes confidence while at the same time emanating warmth. While she has an unexplainably calming presence, she is also a fierce advocate for your rights in the birthing process. I felt that I could open up to her about anything almost immediately after we shook hands for the first time. During birth, she was a wealth of knowledge and techniques to help me cope with pain, while giving me the confidence I needed to birth my baby without fear or anxiety. I would recommend her to anyone I know that is expecting and would absolutely use her services again in the future.

Jen made our birth goals possible in the most gentle and informed way. She spoke our language- fluently!- guiding us to some amazing resources so that I could do the homework I felt so compelled to do in entering this new world. She validated my concerns while smoothly guiding me in the direction she knew I needed to go in order to feel confident in my decisions. She helped me find my intuition!

Jen is direct, yet gentle. Well-studied, yet intuitive. Loving, yet professional. Her prenatal and postpartum care got me through the most surprising and confusing days of my life. She was our rock during labor and delivery, empowering my partner in his own role as birth coach, just like we wanted, and helping us add a kick-butt home birth to our list of accomplishments! I feel secure in my ability to mother and love my sweet baby while also taking care of myself. Thinking of going through this without her freaks me out!

Pick Jen!

We hired Jen to attend the birth of our 2nd child, for what we hoped would be a VBAC. She had privileges at our hospital, with our physicians group, but even more importantly, she was simply a great fit with our family. Every time she visited us, it felt like having a trusted friend in our home. We learned how to articulate the type of birth experience we hoped to have, and since we knew my pregnancy was high-risk, how to manage our expectations to get what we most wanted--a healthy baby girl and a positive, non-traumatic birth experience, vaginal or c-section. She walked with us during my entire pregnancy to help manage my pre-eclampsia, helping me stay calm and healthy for as long as possible, and when I got to the point of no return, delivering my daughter 6 wks early, by emergency c-section, she was able to be there with us, keeping me and my partner calm, advocating for us, and ultimately getting me 20 minutes of skin-to-skin time with my sweet baby before they whisked her off to the NICU.

Now, almost 2 yrs later, my memories of my daughter's birth are so much more positive than what I experienced when my son was born, and so much of it was because of Jen's guidance and support. We love this lady and will be forever grateful to her!!

What can I say to convey how incredibly special this woman is? Jen is not only the most dedicated, grounded, and informed doula but she is an all around great gal. She is fierce yet gentle. She has an intuition about her to guide you along your journey. She knows just what to say or do to help you achieve the birth you're looking to have. She was with me in every moment, every contraction to keep me moving towards my goal. We wanted to have a natural child birth, and we did it! And I was so glad to have Jen by my side. She knows what she is talking about and it's obvious she is passionate about women's health and a happy birth for you, your baby, and your partner. You will not be disappointed by hiring Jen.

Jen was a back up for my doula while she was out of town.  Of course this is when I go into labor.  Not knowing Jen and never going through giving birth I had no idea what to expect.  I called Jen and it seemed she was right there.  I remember the relief I felt when she walked through the door and I knew instantly it was meant to happen this way.  We clicked and my husband clicked and it even seemed like the doctors and nurses clicked with her.  We worked as a team.  I went all natural and the times I wanted to give up she filled me with encouragement while letting me know I could make another choice if I wanted.  We love Jen.  My husband has said more than once we could not have gotten through it without her.  I highly recommend having a doula.  Its well worth the money!  Jen is great and very special to us.  By the way if it matters to anyone I was 49 giving birth.  So older mamas dont let age be a barrier for choices to have or have not the birth you desire!

Hiring Jen was the best decision for our family. After a less than stellar first birth where my husband and I felt unprepared and bullied we knew we wanted a different experience. I felt like I failed my first baby and carried that trauma around. From the moment I met Jen I knew she was going to be my doula. She has a confident peace that made me feel at ease. She supported me during my pregnancy, answered questions, and changed the way I felt about my body. My husband loved having Jen because he felt like the pressure was off of him to be everything I needed while still having his own experience. My birth was long and boring but I was filled with anxiety. If Jen wasn't there I would have had many unnecessary interventions. Instead I had a beautiful medication free birth that healed all my previous wounds. I gave birth holding Jen's hand with her wiping my tears. We both felt supported and safe. I felt alone during my first delivery but with Jen I felt excited and powerful. She was invaluable to our family and will always be in our hearts.

We chose Jen because she was the doula for our previous doula (no longer practicing).  We figured if she's good enough to be our doulas doula, she'd be great for us!  She was wonderful - a calm presence who offered knowledge and support during my VBAC.  I had a history of preeclampsia, and a desire to have a healthy, natural pregnancy.  Jen provided tons of options that we were comfortable with to ensure a healthy, smooth pregnancy. She also prepared us for the VBAC, letting us know what to expect.  She presented all information accurately but without causing any worry about potential complications.

Jen was amazing during my birth. She worked very well with my husband to keep me as comfortable as possible. She also had excellent recommendations on positions when things stalled that got me to progress very quickly. Jen stayed calm when my baby's shoulder got stuck, and helped him get situated for the breast crawl.

I am so happy that we hired Jen - I can't imagine our birth without her!

I received Jen's contact information through a mutual friend when I was pregnant with my first child and was debating contacting a doula.  My husband and I instantly loved Jen.  She is incredibly intelligent and educated about pregnancy, birth, and post-partum issues.  However, she doesn't push any of her own beliefs or views on you, but instead works to empower you to make choices that are right for you and your family.  On top of being crazy smart, Jen is very good at helping you relax during labor.  She gives you and your partner many tools to help while you're at home, and she is all hands on deck once she is with you.  My husband felt so much better having Jen to call and ask questions, or to help him or give him a break during active labor.

My two pregnancies were very different, even though I wanted a natural childbirth with both.  With my first daughter, I ended up having an epidural and pitocin.  Jen was there to help me thorugh the decision-making process, and even there for me when I had a panic attack after the epidural, and all the way through the birth.  With my second child, I had a natural labor and birth, and Jen helped us immensely as a coach and comforter.

I would recommend Jen to anyone who wants to make educated decisions and have someone there for them during birth.  Whether you are very "type A" (like me), or wanting to go with the flow, she is a special, unique person who can really identify with many different people. She is amazing!

Jen was the exact support I needed at the birth of my second baby. She gave me the cues/reminders that I needed to push more efficiently, she was honest, and concise with her words. She motivated me at the end when I was starting to get impatient. She is intuitive and knows what each mama needs. Oh, she's also insanely smart and hilarious. She meets people where they are and informs them without judgment. I'm so thankful to know her and happy to recommend her to anyone seeking a doula.

We couldn't fully comprehend the value of a doula until the birth experience we had with my daughter. I wanted a natural birth and my husband and I prepared as best as we could. We actually even attended Jen's awesome birth classes. However it wasn't until the labor began (26+ hours of active labor) that we really needed and valued her assistance. I had back labor and as loving and comforting as my husband is, he would have had no clue how to help to relieve the pain. Jen was with us the whole 26 hours plus. She supported us exactly how and when we needed her and knew when to give us a moment. We were so grateful to have her help and support. No way would we have achieved a natural unmedicated birth without her knowledge and assistance. Jen is very intuitive, educated and absolutely has a passion and love for birth, families and babies!

when I was planning to have my second birth, an unmedicated birth was my goal. I was scared and anxious but after a traumatic experience with my first I knew I wanted something different. I was given the advice to get a doula, but I wasn't so sure. I decided to message a few to see where it went. I talked to a few online, on the phone, and in person, my final meeting was Jen. after our initial meeting I knew without a shadow of a doubt I needed her beside me as I welcomed my second son. My husband wasn't there at the meeting and he was still skeptical about dishing out a large chunk of change on a doula. After our first prenatal visit, he told me "I get it!"

Jen was so helpful during my pregnancy and theough our prenatal visits really helped me to feel confident and remove the fear that I held. She knew all of my wishes, all of my desires, all of my preferences.

My labor wasn't long, but it was intense. There were moments I felt completely overwhelmed and out of control and each one she was able to get me back on top and back in control. Her calm but strong presence gave me comfort and confidence. Baby boy came fast a furiously and she was there by phone and in person to help comfort and guide me.

I could not imagine welcoming another baby into this world without her by my side in one way or another! Thank you so much Jen, we will forever be grateful to you! And as my husband says "she is worth her weight in gold!"

Where to start... Jen is truly amazing at what she does. From the moment my husband & I first met her we knew we wanted her to be part of our support team for our ummedicated birth. This was my Third pregnancy and I had tried a natural unmedicated birth with my other two but was very uneducated about it and thought I could just wing it. Boy was I wrong. Jen somehow taught me so much about beliving in myself & my body. (Even though this was my third pregnacy) I felt so empowered knowing I would have Jen by my side.  The months leading up to my labor she was always there no matter what time of day to answer any question I had or any advice I needed. Jen's personality is just  so warm and welcoming, as soon as she walks in the door you just feel empowered and inspired. Jen went over with my husband and myself our "dream" birth experience and although she was there to try her hardest to mak sure we got that experience she also had us plan for our not so dream but still a "good" birth experience. I liked this becuase I am always a prepare for the worst  expect the best kind of person. Anyways I got my dream experince, everything worked out better then what we had actually planned and I could not have done it without Jen by my side. There was a point were I looked at her and Said "I can't do this", she pulled me in looked me start in the eyes and said you already are and  you are doing fantastic( along with much more). However, it was like I was standing at the edge of a cliff and she was able  to calm me down and bring me back, so I could focues  and somehow I found  the stregth. I remeber feeling so pumped and encouracged after her words of wisdom. My birth experience change my life & my husband life. It was truly one of the best days of my life and I know and feel so grateful that Jen was the reason  I will remeber that experience for the rest of my life. I love sharing my birthstory in hope it inspires others.

Jen is a wonderful and compassionate doula.  Her presence at a birth is calming for not just her well-cared for clients, but for the entire birth team, including medical professional.  I highly recommend Jen as a highly experienced and skilled doula for all my patients!

My husband and I had a fantastic experience with Jen. I decided to pursue a natural childbirth (at a hospital) and in order to do that I felt I needed some extra support in addition to my husband. Jen was beyond supportive and knowledgeable throughout my pregnancy and labor, AND postpartum. I was successful in having an ummedicated childbirth, which I do not think I could have done without the patience, support, knowledge, encouragement, and care of a Doula. My husband was very helpful during my pregnancy, labor, and postpartum, however I do not feel I could have gotten through labor without some form of medication without Jen's presence. In my husband's words, 'she was well worth the $$!' I will always feel a sense of gratitude towards Jen for the geniuine care, guidance, and support she provided to me and my family throughout our journey, and highly recommend her for yours. <3

She was my doula for BOTH of my littles.  For my first, we attempted a home birth and transfered.  I would NOT have had a good experience without her.  She was AMAZING!  My second was a very fast one at home.  Again, she helped me to process what was happening and be present despite the speed.  Again, I would not have had the memorable experience I did without her.  She is thorough and professional and fiercy devoted to her families.  She explores all options to encourages her parents to make informed, educated choices.  Her intuition regarding what I needed during labor was spot on.  My husband relied on her, and she offered unparalleled support all around.

Jen Jester is truly gifted, and we were blessed to have her by our side for the birth of our daughter.  I was immediately drawn to her quiet strength and felt so comfortable with her.  Our meetings with her prior to birth were so helpful-she gave us tips on how to loosen and align my body, which made me so much more comfortable through the later parts of my pregnancy.  She helped my husband and I talk through what was most important to us for our birth.  During labor, Jen's strong but calming presense helped me focus on breathing through contractions and relax my body.  My husband commented that as soon as Jen arrived during active labor, my emotions and body visibly relaxed and refocused.  In fact, I was so relaxed that we didn't have time to get to the hospital as planned, and Jen delivered our daughter at home!  She was assertive but so gentle with me, empowering me to have the natural childbirth we had wanted, even when I thought I couldn't do it.  Although a home delivery was not planned, I wouldn't have had it any other way and I was never worried.  My recovery was so much faster and easier than with my previous hospital birth, and Jen was a wonderful resource with texts and visits after my daughter was born.  Jen is so knowledgable and connected through the natural birthing community in St. Louis.  If we have more children, I would definitely plan a home birth with Jen there to guide us through.  She was such a blessing for us, and we can't thank her enough.

We hired Jen for the birth of our first child based on the recommendation of a friend of a friend -- and I couldn't be more glad that we did. She was exactly what my husband and I needed, both as we prepared ourselves emotionally for the big day and during labor itself -- calm, filled with common sense, and utterly adaptive to our unique needs.

We were fortunate in that everything went as well as labor and delivery ever goes -- I arrived at the hospital almost fully dilated and our daughter was born within a few hours of check-in. And that is absolutely a testament to Jen's good coaching, smart prep work and helpful advice on the phone that day. She was also a rock for both of us at the hospital, during the hours where I finally understood what everyone had been warning me about. Thanks to her gentle presence and quiet, assured manner, I was never even tempted to consider an epidural. With her at our side, I knew we had this and everything would be fine. And sure enough, it was!

My husband had been skeptical on the front end that the expense was needed -- what exactly would a doula add, he asked, especially for someone as cussedly independent as I am when it comes to emotional distress? But at the end of the process, he was literally questioning how anyone does it without a doula. "Hiring Jen was the best money we ever spent," was his conclusion. "We could have paid her ten times what she asked and I still would have thought it was worth it." I would whole-heartedly agree, and I could not recommend her services more.

Jen was great! We had a long, challenging labor, but by the grace of God and Jen's support we managed to have a delivery very close to our visioned delivery.  I have spoke to many women who had similar experiences since and they ended up needing interventions, even c-sections.  I think our experience was the classic example of how with a knowlegeable doula the rate of unnecessary interventions and c-sections goes down significantly.  Sometimes first timers go slow, and that's okay, but in a medicalized setting its easy for medical staff to want to intervene to move the process along.  Jen was there with us through it all, and I joke that we definately got our money's worth, poor thing.  She was amazing.  We hope to use her again next time around if she is available.
