In Washington State, Medicaid pays for approximately 35% - 40% of the approximately 80,000 births occurring each year. Washington State has one of the highest Medicaid reimbursement rates for doula services.

To participate and create your new Medicaid doula profile, you must hold a valid Washington State Department of Health Doula Certificate and be registered in ProviderOne for Medicaid billing. This is the final step for being able to bill Medicaid for doula services: it is not enough to be certified, you must have a ProviderOne number to participate in this program. See this bulletin.
