Relevant volunteer or advocacy work: I am a long time member of the Maine Association of Independent doulas (M.A.I.D.) since 2002. M.A.I.D.'s mission is to provide community education about birth options and doula supported childbirth. In addition,as part of Island Baby, I host bi-monthly Teas for families with small children and babies to provide networking and support in the community. I also offer and facillitate a Nearly born, Newly Born Mother & Baby group. Mothers & babies enjoy a morning of songs, snacks and conversation, while connecting with their babies.

Nancy was great. I just had my baby yesterday at Ellsworth hospital with the midwives at MCWC. It was a natural birth and I couldn't have done it without Nancy. My husband was great, but labor was so intense that I really needed the extra support.
