Attends hospital births? All Hospitals I am trained as a doula to provide emotional, physical, and informational support to you and your partner and to support you in advocating for your choices to be respected in the hospital environment. As an employee of a civil rights organization I am also well-versed in the rights of birthing mothers as patients and can help ensure that your patient rights are fully respected by your health care practitioners and institution. Attends birth center births? All Birth Centers I think birth centers are a wonderful option for women who want a natural birth experience in the safety of a birth-positive clinical environment. I can provide all the same support services of physical, emotional, and informational support as I can in a hospital or home birth. Some birth centers may also have additional tools to facilitate your experience such as birthing tubs, etc. Attends home births? Some Home Births I will happily attend a home birth that is attended by a midwife or a doctor. As a doula I am not a trained medical professional and cannot be at an unattended home birth as it would be cause for the denial/revocation of my pending CAPPA certification. If you are considering a home birth I am happy to be your doula and help you find a midwife and help you create your birth plan.
