My family has a history of complicated births, and for that reason, hiring a Doula was important to my husband and me. A few months into our first pregnancy, I happened to meet Dawn at Church. I will never forget her telling me, "I'd have another baby just to give birth." It was at that moment, I knew she was a perfect Doula match for us. Throughout our pregnancy, Dawn came to our house to help us understand natural birth, helped me with special diets, instructed me through my pre-natal visits (I saw an OB) and was on-call for any question we had. When I went into labor, she came to our house to coach us through, and the she sat with us for 2 more days at the hospital while I continued to labor without much success. Through everything, she was so gentle, kind, respectful and affirming. My birth process was indeed interesting, but Dawn was right there through everything, helping us to advocate for ourselves and also helping us to make informed decisions based on research and experience. In the postpartum phase, armed with her nursing and sleeping and child-rearing expertise, Dawn led us to resources that have helped us raise a happy, healthy child. She also has been an asset in helping us understand and live an organic and all-natural lifestyle. It is a privilege to know and work with Dawn, and you would be blessed and wise to invite her into your birth and into your life.

I cannot begin to express how grateful I am to have had Dawn as my doula! She was kind, understanding, and most of all friendly. She was totally willing to help me in any way she could so that I could have the type of birth I wanted for my first baby. I had taken a hypnobirthing class, and although she didn't know much about it, she learned! She reviewed all the materials I had gotten in my class so that she could be as prepared as I was. I wanted a waterbirth, which she knows plenty about! She also had many of her own ideas on ways to help me, as well as reassure me. I was induced 3 days after my due date as my blood pressure was rising, and my platelets were dropping. She came to visit me in the hospital and talk everything over with me. She knew, as did the doctors, that nothing would be happening that night. We all agreed she should go home and rest for what we were hoping would be an eventful next day. She returned bright and early the next morning, unfortunately, labor didn't go as planned. She helped me get some contractions going with pressure points, but we couldn't get labor going. After a very long day (I won't bore you with the details) I was again induced with pitocin, no waterbirth for me! I awoke the next morning in actual labor! She was there, sitting next to me as she had been all night. My husband on the other hand was still sound asleep! She helped me stay comfortable for the next 16 hours I was in labor. She rubbed my back, talked to me, made sure I was hydrated, and most of all helped me stay calm. I may not have had the exact birth I planned, but I wouldn't have changed it for the world! All 3 days (and 6 hours of pushing) were made possible by Dawn and my amazing husband!!! I managed to have my very first baby with no pain meds, no episiotomy, and with 2 of the most amazing people by my side (not counting the million nurses we met during our stay, and our incredible doctor!) I HIGHLY recommend Dawn to anyone and and everyone!

Dawn was my doula for the birth of my daughter! She was wonderful. She was gave a ton of advice and support as my due date neared, then was there for me every minute during my 23 hour labor. We took advantage of her wonderful tub and she was a critical person during my labor. I credit her for the reason I did not end up with a c-section. She also gave wonderful post-partum advice, some of which I credit to the fact as to why my daughter was sleeping through the night at 4 weeks. Getting a doula is critical if you want to have a natural birth. Getting an amazing doula is harder to find. Dawn knows the Central Connecticut area and will be the advocate that you need.
