Client Testimonials for Mary Carroll

We had contacted Mary via a referral from a acquaintance. Our first informational meeting was at our home. Mary was able to meet us at a time that was convientant for us. She was very open to our needs and also gave us an idea on how to plan the kind of birth that we wanted. As soon as we met Mary, seeing her warm smile calming presence I knew that she was going to be a wonderful doula. We wanted to have a natural childbirth and I was uneasy about my delivery becuase I had to have a hospital birth due to some "possible health issues" Mary reassured me throughout my pregancy to have a positive frame of mind, and that we would do everything we could to stay with the birth plan. But she also discussed with us many of the scenarios that could happen. Mary was able to drive to our house when my husband called her during the first stage of labor. She was very proactive with suggesting diffrent postions for me to get in to be more comfortable during the contractions. At the hospital she was right there with me supporting myself and my husband. It was a very good thing that she was there becuase I forgot my birth plan and when the Dr. asked for it she was right there with it! She is one of the reasons I was able to have a "better then text book birth" without any interventions. All in all Mary is an excellent Doula and I would highly recomend her.

Mary is a wonderful and kind soul whom I met while she was still in her doula training. I was really hoping for a natural childbirth and the midwife recommended I hire a doula. Mary was so caring and I could tell from the second I met her that she was a person whom I could trust to guide me through one of the most difficult obstacles I will ever tackle. When I went into labor, she drove the whole way out to my mother's house (which was a good hour away for her). She stayed and helped my husband comfort me and try to manage my pain. We made it down to the midwife center and found out I wasn't progressed as far as i hoped but was definitely in labor. I tried to stick it out but the pain was so intense and I was completely exhausted (from laboring for days beforehand with no sleep ), that the midwife recommended I transfer to the hospital where I could get some pain medicine. This was at 1am. Mary knew where the hospital was and we followed her. She stayed with us all night and after I gave birth to my daughter. She was very knowledgable in the areas of natural pain management and was a very comforting soul to have present. I am happy to know that I helped her gain more experience in different kinds of birthing processes! I would highly recommend her as your doula!
