I came into contact with Meredith Dodson after hearing about her through an acquaintance who had taken her Bradley Method course and spoke highly of her and the class. This being our first baby and wanting a natural drug free childbirth in a hospital setting, we wanted to be prepared. The class prepared my husband to play the main role as the husband coach, and I loved having my husband play such an active role in the birth of our child. It prepared me physically and mentally with exercises that my husband and I practiced together daily. After getting to know Meredith through her class, we found her to be not only very knowledgeable about childbirth, but also a wonderful person and mom to her own little boys. Meredith is so sweet and easy going; my husband and I quickly began to see her not only as a teacher, but also a friend. I felt very comfortable hiring her as our doula. I later found out she is trained in massage therapy, which made me even more excited to have her at my birth (haha). I felt that her expertise and support would help us have the birth experience we were looking for. We made the right decision and Meredith exceeded our expectations. She was available and very helpful to answer my endless questions as the birthday grew closer. Thanks to Meredith’s class and expertise, our birth went wonderfully. The labor and delivery only lasted six hours, and we did it completely drug free. I was able to completely relax through each contraction as Meredith and my husband helped me through it. I’m so glad she was there during our labor and birth. She was incredibly helpful and had great suggestions to help me through it. To my surprise, she also came to visit me after the baby was born to check on me and make sure everything was going well. I feel like she went over and above for me, and I would totally recommend her course and also using her as a doula.

Having our Bradley Birthing teacher as our Doula was the best experience. Not only did she help us prepare for labor through the education we received in her 12 week course, but we had that opportunity to get to know one another before the big day! It was such a blessing to have contact with her on a regular basis as well, being able to ask her questions, describe what I was experiencing and for my husband to be in contact with her during labor. She came late at night when I went into labor, and even went with us to the birthing center three times, as I was sent home twice to labor longer at home! Through out my 45.5hour labor, she stayed in contact with us, no matter the time of day/night. When we were finally getting closer to labor, she helped me by reminding me that everything I was feeling was normal and that I had the strenght to do it. She brought such a sense of peace to the room that I don't think could have been present without her support. When I was entering transition phase and getting nauseous, she had honey sticks ready to keep my blood sugar up. Our experience in having her there wasn't just someone hired for support, but it was our new friend experiencing the birth of our daugher with us. We all shared tears, laughter and hugs when she was born, and we'll forever be grateful to her for what she did to help us experience the beauty of a natural, drug-free labor and delivery.
