Attends hospital births? All Hospitals Because of the state legislation, NYS offers limited out-of-hospital births. There are very few CNM's that offer home births in our state, so we have become very accustomed to hospital birth situations. We have very good relationships with all the practices and hospitals we work with and hope to provide each client with an excellent experience. Attends birth center births? No Birth Centers I love Birth Centers; I was primarily trained in one in Florida. Unfortunately, NY State presently has no free standing birth centers. I would gladly practice in one if it was available. Attends home births? Any Home Birth Home births are wonderful for families that desire them. I recently had a VERY precipitous delivery which I handled alone, and mom and baby were fine at home! Home birth midwives are scarce in this area. I'm grateful I have the knowledge and skills, but am not legally licensed to set up a practice in NY. Would gladly work with homebirth midwives.
