Fee Details: Postpartum rate varies with distance and number of hours booked. Currently offering 5 free postpartum doula hours to the first 3 clients who contract with me! I will work with families on a sliding scale/payment plans. I offer discounts to military families, and women considering adoption.

Specific certifications for the above: I was trained through Maternity Wise as a postpartum doula. I was initially trained as a birth doula through DONA International, and am now also seeking certification as a HypnoDoula through Hypnobabies.

I am a student member of the American College of Nurse Midwives. I am also a member of DONA International, and Lamaze International. I am currently studying to become an IBCLC. I have had advanced training in use of the TENS (transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation) in birth and will be offering TENS rentals soon! I am offering bellycasting services as part of my birth package starting this spring! Please contact me for details about TENS, bellycasting and placenta encapsulation services.

I had the pleasure of having Jen Barraclough as my doula. It was my first pregnancy so I had a lot of questions and concerns. Jen's easy going manner, experience and knowledge put me at ease. She was able to answer my questions as not only an experienced doula but as a mother which I appreciated it. I felt very comfortable with her from the very first meeting! She had a lot of techniques during the birth that helped me through the discomfort and then the pain. Actually...much to my fiance's dismay, her support was the support that calmed me the most. It was something about her soft ways and the knowledge that she's been through this before herself! She helped my daughter find my breast and nurse right after being born. I appreciate that. I would totally recommend Jen to anyone in the area that I knew who was thinking about having a doula. I am recommended having a doula to anyone period! Having her was the best decision I could have made throughout the whole pregnancy. If I have another child...way too early to tell ;) I will call upon Jen again!

I decided I wanted to go with a doula because I was not comfortable with the fact that my OB was going to be out of the country on vacation right before my due date. I am one of those people that do not do well with the “unknown”.
By the grace of God, my husband and I were introduced to Jennifer. My husband was skeptical at first. He couldn’t understand why I wanted to pay someone to be with us during such an intimate part of our life. If you ask him now, how he feels about having a doula he will tell you it was the best thing that we could have done.
Jennifer was PERFECT for us. It relieved so much stress, worry and panic, from the both of us. Every family should invest into getting a doula. Jennifer was so calm and stood by us every step of the way. I was never left alone (because that is how I wanted it). She never over stepped her boundaries and worked fabulous with the nurses and doctor. She knew what questions to ask and what to do. I was so comfortable and at ease knowing that she would be there for us. I actually made sure my husband held our little boy first and then Jennifer. It really isn’t something that has words. The presence of someone with so much knowledge and skill is priceless when it comes to welcoming our children into the world.
Jen always made her-self available even for the simplest of questions and never did I feel that I was bothering her. Having her there took so much off of our shoulders that it made my birthing experience perfect. Her follow-up was welcoming and heart-felt. As we approach the first birthday of our son, Jennifer is first on our guest list.
