We hired Cara because it was our first child and we're new to the US.
Cara was coming to our house, it's good to have these training sessions in a familiair surrounding. She was always on time and very professional. Every week she gaves us information about a topic. She brought information what we could read afterwards. I felt myself stronger and I knew what was going to happen during birth. The topics about drugs, labor signs, body positions for labor and delivery were the most helpful topics.
Also having the dad-to-be included made it feel as team work and more comfortable.
We really recommend every new parents to hire Cara!
We hired Cara to do my placenta encapsulation as she came highly recommended. This was all new to me and she answered all of my questions along the way in an easy to understand language. My midwife assistant brought my placenta to the office the day after my little guy was born and Cara picked it up there so we didn’t have to go out (which was SO convenient and very much appreciated).
Cara contacted me to let me know when she received it and kept me updated on when it would be completed. Since it took an extra day for her to receive it she threw in a placenta smoothie for me at no charge!
She dropped the encapsulated placenta back at my midwife’s office and they are bringing it to me today. Talk about convenience! It has been a great experience overall and I would highly recommend Cara to anyone looking into placenta encapsulation!
I originally sought out Cara for placenta encapsulation only. I knew I did not want to be confined to a hospital bed this time and was frightened to bring home another drowsy quiet baby; I hired Cara. She was great support as I did not have a pregnancy buddy this go around and had recently lost my mom. She went above and beyond to support me emotionally engaging in all types of conversation. At the hospital Cara sprang into action; she arrived speedily and well prepared reminding me to ask questions and to not be shy about my requests. She encouraged my husband to encourage me. She whispered amazing affirmations in my ear throughout my labor and manipulated my body to either ease pain or help my child descend further into my pelvis. She had prepared a well visible chart with large icons displaying the top "wants" of my Birth Plan. She massaged me and had nice surprises like battery operated tea lights and essential oils. I birthed my daughter 100% naturally! Her postpartum visits and encouragement were great too and she did a lovely job handling my placenta; I received my capsules, a tincture, essence and a print as a keepsake. She even hand blended some herbs to use in my sitz bath.
I was another one of those late comers when I found Cara by chance on Facebook. And Although I was on my third child, my first two birthing experiences were not what I really wanted so I hoped by working with a doula she might have something to offer to help make it happen. And Cara definitely helped to get me there. She is very knowledgeable and she was very supportive through my false labor and my real labor. And although I did end up with a spinal once I hit transition, I am still content with the experience because we tried our best. Even avoided Pitocin which I got stuck with, with my first two. Cara was attentive and great at anticipating my needs, and even now 2.5 weeks after my son was born, she still has been helpful with knowledge about my sons unfortunate tongue and lip tie. And her tinctures and whatnot are definitely worth getting, and the way she dresses them up I think is really awesome and takes your mind off of the fact that you are ingesting something that came from inside of you if that is something that weirds you out. I recommend her to anyone.
I had an absolutely amazing birth with Cara! I hired her pretty late in the game. I think I was around 32 weeks. She did a great job catching me up and helping me prepare for the natural birth that I wanted. She helped us through the important decision of circumcism and also called the hospital I was delivering at after they told me it was illegal for me to take my placenta home. When I went into labor it was very quick. I called her and from the sound of my voice she could tell I was ready to leave for the hospital. If she had not encouraged me to leave then I would have ended up having my baby in the car on the side of the highway! While I was pushing she was very helpful. She talked me through how to breathe and reminded me of little things on my birth plan (like taking off my shirt so we could have immediate skin to skin) that would have slipped my mind in the heat of the moment. After he was born Cara helped us figure out the breast crawl, took some pictures for us and took our placenta home to be encapsulized. She checked up on me in the days after and delivered my placenta pills. She made sure my baby's latch was good and we were all doing well.
I am so thankful that we decided to hire Cara. My birth would not have been the same without her. It helped so much to have a woman there who had been through everything I was going through. Who not only shared her experience but advocated for my personal choices and wishes. I highly recommend Cara to everyone. You will not regret having her as a doula!
Cara is A-Maze-Ing! She was there with me every step of the way. I hired Cara at 36 weeks and from the beginning she made herself available. She took the time to explain my options, which I had no clue about. She opened up a whole new world to me, a world where I could have the birth that I wanted. During labor, she was by my side the entire time and really made me feel supported. I chose to have an unmedicated labor, and quite frankly, I had fun doing it. If you're looking for a doula, I highly recommend Cara. I love that she still texts me to check up on how I'm doing. :) she's the best.
I found Cara by researching doulas online. She was quick to respond to my initial inquiry and provided an abundance of information which made me feel comfortable with her. Cara is very knowledgeable, and can provide data to support her knowledge. She was readily available at any time for my questions or concerns, and made me feel comfortable with her. Cara is not one to be judge mental, or make decisions for you, but is willing to provide you with facts and support you in whatever decisions you decide to make. She empowers you to move forward knowing all the facts and helped make me feel confident in my choices.
Cara encapsulated my placenta for me. I would strongly recommend this to all women for the numerous benefits. She also provided me with a placenta print and tincture. She promptly picked up the placenta once it was released. In addition, I was impressed at how quickly she was able to process it and get the pills and other items back to me. She was very thorough in explaining the instructions and also followed up with emailed information so that I have it for future reference.
Cara overall is very friendly and approachable, and overall a lovely person. I will definitely be using Cara in the future and would recommend her to everyone. Thank you for assistance and services during this special time!
Cara is an angel. I contacted her at 8 months asking if she could be a virtual doula. Through email, Facebook, and regular phone calls she helped me decide what I wanted my birth and postpartum experience and encouraged me through all of it. She also encapsulated my placenta and got it back to me within 5 days. I love her so much I plan to fly her out to Illinois for my next birth. I definitely reccomended her!!
I met Cara through Eats on Feets,a milk sharing network shortly after my son was born 2 1/2 years ago. Although we haven't met in person and she wasn't there for the birth of my son I feel very close to her and she's helped me through a lot during the many conversations we've had. I'm a single mom and sometimes it's so tough and she's gotten me through some difficult nights when my son wasn't sleeping and was angry b/c I was weaning and he wasn't accepting this. I recenlty went through some depression and Cara warned me that part of my depression could be brought on by weaning and stressed to me how important it was to take care of myself, get some rest and talk to my doctor or nurse about this in person. I've taken that advice and do feel much better now and Cara is still there for me to answer my questions about weaning, depresion, toilette training and more.
I made the decision to become a doula early last year. A few months in, I began attending once a month meetings to introduce myself with other doulas and midwives. Cara was one of these women. As time passed, she became my friend and mentor. I acquired my first two clients late last year, and she guided me through both and was able to partner with me on my first client. Since then, she has been a joy to talk to and get to know, and I look forward to working with her in the future, as well as working together on upcoming projects to spread the word about the meaning of doulas and the spectrum that we work in. I would highly recommend Cara Del Favaro to any prospective client, as she is extremely knowledgable in her profession and provides the upmost care, as well as supplying clients with any piece of information they are looking to know about their upcoming births!
We hired Cara in January to be our doula for our baby due in June. Cara was there for us every step of the way. She answered every question I had and sometimes just listened when I needed a listening ear. At the birth our son, she was by my side the whole time. Her caring and helping hands and warm heart made the birth much easier and more comfortable. I was able to have a normal all-natural birth with the help of our amazing doula! Thank you a million times, Cara.
I had my second son, Nathan, on Novemember 19th of 2012. My husband and I were also due to close on a house around this time and could not afford to pay a doula, though I desperately wanted. I decided to find a doula pursuing certification who was willing to attend my birth for free in exchange for me signing paperwork towards her certification. Cara was willing to do this for me. She provided me with wonderful care and information via emails and phone call, and came out for an interview while I was still pregnant. She attempted to come out for the birth. Unfortunately for her, I had a very fast, natural birth and my son was born before she could make it to the hospital. When she arrived, she helped me with breastfeeding tips and tended to my needs for physical comfort in anyway that she could. She was wonderful about anticipating my needs and getting me a warm blanket, or a drink before I'd even ask for it. She reminded me about things we'd talked about prior to my hospital admittance, so that I could remind the staff about my preferences. She didn't want me to feel pressured into accepting any procedures I was uncomfortable with. She got along well with the hospital staff and was respectful and considerate to all. She called me when I got home and came out for a postpartum visit to ensure my breastfeeding was going well. She gave me tips to help me improve my son's latch. I think she is a wonderful doula and would recommend her to all.
I used Cara for my placenta encapsulation. She was fantastic about coming to the hospital and getting it, and was very quick to bring it back to me in an adorable decorated jar.
Prior to delivery, she was very attentive to my emails. She responded quickly, and offered a wealth of knowledge. After delivery she has checked in a few times to make sure everything is going swell. I absolutely recommend her to anyone in her area.
