Hiring Heather for our birth was one of the best decisions we ever made! We felt extremely comfortable with her from the moment we met her. She is knowledgable and friendly, and talking to her felt like talking to an old friend. Heather helped us achieve the birth we hoped for, and helped us make some critical decisions along the way. She had a great rapport with the doctors and nurses at the hospital. When I opted for an epidural, she was completely supportive and nonjudgmental. Heather was also incredibly helpful in the days leading up to our birth. She checked in on me regularly and was available for support and to answer questions whenever I needed her. (She's also incredibly responsive, even in the middle of the night!) She gives a great foot massage, too. :)
I had such a wonderful experience with Heather as my doula. She checked in on me periodically in the days leading up to my labor. She was invoved and helpful in the early stages but also minded my space when I was having contractions. She was a strong and kind presence and my husband and I were completely comfortable having her as our support person. I can't imagine having done it without her! The foot rub during labor and the scrambled eggs after weren't bad either. I will definitely be recommending her all over Chicago.
I can honestly say that I don't know how my husband and I would have gotten through our 32-hour labor without Heather! She was absolutely AMAZING, words cannot express the gratitude I have for her! Even the nurses commented, "she is the BEST doula I've ever worked with!" and asked for her contact information. Anytime I hear that someone is expecting, I suggest that they consider hiring Heather, and tell them about my experience. I've even caught my husband doing the same, and he thought the idea of hiring a doula was ridiculous when I first suggested it!
Heather was always available to answer any questions we had. As my due date got closer and closer she was in close contact by text, email or phone. It was so comforting to know that I had someone to talk to that didn't try to dismiss my concerns or impose their opinions on me, especialy since this was my first child. Whenever I'd talk with her, I felt like I was talking to an old friend, not someone that I had just met.
My husband and I felt like Heather went above and beyond her doula duties throughout labor. She was always on top of things, and would tend to my needs before I even realized I needed anything. From reminding me to drink some water to massaging and applying pressure right where I needed it. And reminding me to breathe to to suggesting that I switch positions, it was like she was working some doula magic. When I thought that I couldn't go on, she talked me through it reminding me that my body knew what it was doing, and that I could go on and that I was doing a good job. It's kind of funny, when I can't seem to calm my fussy newborn, I can still hear Heather's reassuring voice that it will be alright. I don't ever write reviews, but I really can't say enough about how wonderful Heather is!
We used Heather for the birth of our son earlier this year and have nothing but positive things to say about our experience. Heather came to our house to meet us and we instantly hit it off. She had a vast knowledge of natural childbirth and educated us on things we didn't know. She also helped us develop our birth plan and gauged our level of commitment to the natural birthing process. Unfortunately, we did not go into labor by day 12 and had to be induced at 4am. Heather was there for the duration and provided just the right amount of encouragement and support. When we determined enough was enough at hour 10 of a slowly progressing 19 hour labor, Heather continued to support our decisions. Even after the epidural, Heather did things to make the birth extremely peaceful...the perfect environment for our son to enter this world. We finally gave birth to a healthy 10 pound, 2 ounce baby boy and I will forever remember how instrumental Heather's help was in achieving that. Post pardom, Heather was always available for questions and allowed the perfect amount of time to pass before visiting. We highly recommend Heather and will use her again for the birth of our next child.
We love Heather! She was our Doula for the birth of my son Archer, 5 months ago from today. I still see Heather and she is very helpful with baby advice. I found the massge techiques and assistance with finding more comfortable positions during my contractions invaluable. I also loved having Heather to chat to while my husband got dinner and slept during the night. I highly recommend Heather and would love to have her for my next birth. She is friendly, easy to talk to, very knowledgeable and good as reassuring your nerves!

I can't say enough good about our experience with Heather Lange. As a VBAC hopeful, I felt it would be necessary to have a doula in order to have the best chance of achieving my goals. Heather is warm and friendly, passionate about birth and extremely supportive. One of the best parts of having her on my team was knowing she was only a text message away for information or cheerleading, which I thrived on as my pregnancy stretched past the 41-week mark and I had issues with my blood pressure. Her calming presence kept me focused before I even went into labor. And when I did go into labor, she was there at my house hours after Christmas Day, she followed us to the hospital, and she was on my side and my husband's throughout a long labor with a few surprises. I ended up needing a repeat c-section, and her quiet, supportive presence helped greatly reduce my stress and properly prepare for the joy of welcoming my baby, despite the birth not going as planned. Postpartum, she helped keep me calm as my new baby required surgery and she gently kept me optimistic for the possibility of a VBA2C in the future. I can't imagine even surviving the end of my pregnancy and birth without a doula, and Heather was just the person I needed. Highly recommended!
