It was a pleasure having Elana present at the birth of our first child. Knowing that she herself had gone through both vaginal and C-Section deliveries made me feel that she was well prepared and would be able to put herself in my shoes no matter how our birth went. She was able to coach me through my labor and keep me relaxed enough that I didn't need to have an epidural...Something I never thought I could do! However, it was good to know that she was open to considering an epidural if necessary and was not judgmental about my wishes. She is a truly kind person who genuinely enjoys helping others with what can be a stressful event. I can’t stress enough how helpful it is to have had Elana there to provide information when you are in the midst of a life changing and sometimes chaotic event.

After an exhaustive search and interview process, my husband and I decided to go with Elana. She met all of my criteria -- she was exceptionally professional, responsive to all of my emails and phone calls, very knowledgable, and calming. Elana is not only a doula, but also a nursing student (who has plans to ultimately become a certified nurse midwife), so that factor played into my decision tremendously. I felt that I could trust Elana to bring her doula philosophies and combine them with her medical knowledge to make the perfect doula. She had the knowledge of both worlds.
Elana was always on time to our pre-natal appointments and never rushed us through our questions. She took her time with us and explained everything. On the big day, Elana was there both times we went to the hospital (first time they turned us away), and she kept me calm and cool through my labor and delivery.
I would recommend Elana very highly. She was instrumental in my labor.
