We are so thankful we chose to work with Katie Nyberg as our doula as we prepared for the birth of our first child in November 2012. After meeting Katie we instantly knew that she was the doula we wanted to work with. Katie is incredibly knowledgable, organized, responsive and committed to the women she works with.  She was also a valuable resource for my husband.  She answered all of our questions, provided helpful information and helped prepare us for the labor and birth.  She was an amazing source of support before, during and after the birth of our son. We are grateful for everything that she did to support us and hope to work with her again in the future! We would highly recommend her to anyone seeking doula services.

My husband and I met with Katie after we decided we wanted as little medication as possible involved in our son's birth. We instantly felt a connection with her. As first time parents, she was very informative and helped us feel more at ease with the process of childbirth. By the time I went into labor, we knew she had a firm grasp on what we were wanting to avoid, what we were okay with, and what our ideal experience would be like.  She was instrumental in allowing me to labor at home for as long as possible, and after we transitioned to the hospital, she helped keep the hospital staff and myself on the same page.

Having Katie attend our birth had so many unexpected benefits, but the part I enjoyed most was her visit when my son was about a week old. Recapping the day with her and my husband helped solidify the experience as the most amazing thing I've ever done.  She helped me vocalize the day and how special it really was. My husband and I would definitely recommend Katie and hope to utilize her knowledge (and patience!) in future pregnancies.

Katie is a caring, thoughtful, energetic and practical doula.  I met Katie when I was looking for someone to assist with natural childbirth in a hospital setting.  I had two unassisted births several years ago in a large hospital on the East Coast.  It was a great hospital should there have been an emergency, but otherwise completely impersonal and cold.  I have two wonderful daughters, but I don't have any comforting memories of how they were born.  Under Katie's patient guidance, my son was born completely naturally, safely and beautifully.  I couldn't have done it without Katie.  She met with me several times before labor.  We discussed my birth plan, talked about using yoga in childbirth, and whether I wanted to save the placenta. I was going to try for a natural childbirth, but I was a wimp and wasn't sure I could do it.  Katie was understanding and encouraging.  My waters broke in the middle of the night two weeks before the due date.  I called Katie and she explained to me the consequences of going to the hospital: pitocin, induction, a guaranteed medicated birth.  My labor didn't progress for 20 hours.  Katie came and stayed with me trying everything from breathing, to massage, to reflexology.  I ended up at the hospital 3 hrs before my son was born.  I was almost fully dilated.   I remeber a bath tub, Katie's hands protecting me from hitting the spout every time I exhaled and soft light from candles that she thoughtfully spread around.  I remember Katie negotiating on my behalf my need to move around, making sure I wasn't hooked up to any equipment.  Katie also had good advice on where to find natural care after birth.  She is dependable, down to earth and flexible, a doula by calling.

We met Katie by taking her natural childbirth class because I wanted to be able to make more informed decisions about going natural with my 2nd child.  I learned so much through her class that we decided to use her as our doula.  Throughout the whole process she was extremely helpful.  If it wasn't for her I would have gone to the hospital many hours earlier than I should have and my birth experience may have been different.  Katie did an amazing job while I was in labor and I feel very blessed that we found her.  I would highly recommend her!

My husband and I had a wonderful time working with Katie. Along with her vast knowledge of the birth process, Katie is very warm and caring. Prior to the birth of our son, she met with us a few times in our home, and provided extra support in all the ups and downs of pregnancy. When my labor started, Katie was indispensable. She was able to keep my husband and I calm and relaxed the entire time. We had a hospital birth, and Katie was able to create an environment in our room that was very peaceful. After our son was born, I also appreciated having someone with me while my husband was preoccupied with our little one. Along with the "nitty-gritty" of the birth process, she was a nice liaison to all the family in the waiting room, keeping them calm through a long labor as well. My husband has been telling all his friends with pregnant wives that they need to hire doulas! Minutes after our son was born, he asked her to attend the birth of any future siblings our son may have. I would highly recommend Katie to anyone considering hiring a doula.

We used Katie as a doula for the birth of our first daughter in December of 2011.  I also took her Natural Childbirth Class.  She was very knowledgeable about all aspets of pregnancy, birth, breast feeding, and many other topics.  She was always available to answer questions throughout my pregnancy and was a good source to turn to for advice.  I work in a medical setting, so I am more familiar with the medical side of things, but I found Katie very willing to help me find the middle ground where I was comfortable.  I ended up having a very short, though intense, labor.  However, even in our situation I found her presence to be very comforting and helpful!  It is nice to have a familiar voice and face, besides your husband, among the staff in the room.  I was able to concentrate on the things she was telling me better than the nurse.  The constant attention she was able to provide also helped when the nurse had other tasks to attend to.  I also feel it took a lot of pressure off of my husband and myself to have someone there who's job was to suggest labor comfort measures/positions/etc.  In that moment it is very hard to recall all of the options and ideas we learned in class, but Katie always had a suggestion ready.  With her help, I was able to avoid needing an epidural.  And our daughter was born alert and ready to talk to the world!  I also found it really nice to have someone in the room right after the delivery to stay with me and allow my husband to be with the baby while she was being weighed and measured.  I loved having Katie at our birth and would use her again in a heartbeat.  In fact, I can't imagine doing it without her!  And I would recommend her to anyone considering a doula, whether they want a very natural birth or a more medical birth.  I think Katie has experience and expertise in both areas and is an invaluable asset.

I have to say that I LOVE Katie.  She is very helpful, provides great information, and is an all around awesome doula!  I had issues througout my pregnancy and Katie was there to help me stay sane.  I had my son this past July and Katie was there to assist in the delivery.  I was originally going to have a home birth, but had to transition to a hospital birth.  Because she has so much experience in hospital births, I was very comfortable with having her there and helping out with not only my delivery but keeping my husband from passing out!  I would recommend Katie as anyone's doula because the services she provides cant be beat.  Though she's had dozens of different clients, she treated me like I was number one priority and I really appreciated that.  Added bonus, you can text or email her at all hours if you have something on your mind or need to just talk and vent about things.  If and when we have our second child, I would love to have Katie as our doula again.

My husband and I decided that we wanted a doula to help us through labor as my first pregnancy was high risk. We were hopeful for a normal pregnancy the second time around but ended up on bed rest in the hospital at 32 weeks and delivering at 36 weeks.  Katie is very warm and caring and was supportive through our entire hospital stay.  She helped us follow and adjust (based on circumstances) our birthplan being a great liason between us and the nurses/doctor. Her massage techniques were amazing and her knowledge of the birthing process helped tremendously. She helped us to avoid unneccessary and a potentially harmful dose of pain medication offerred by our labor nurse only an hour prior to delivery.

Katie showed my husband some of her massage and labor techniques so he could stay actively involved in helping me through labor. Katie and my husband worked great together as a team to keep me as comfortable as possible.

We had a wonderful experience working with Katie and wouldn't want to deliver again without her. We highly recommend Katie to anyone who is looking for a doula.
